OK, well I've been helping -yoshi- (over at ST), who is learning how to BAT and is doing a great job. But was having some issues with night lights not working so I said I'd take a look, figuring it would be an easy fix... I am, however, baffled by it's behaviour. One minute they work, one minute they don't...?? I have photos:

In this first shot none are lighting up at all. (his is the sign overhanging the road)

In the second shot we have them randomly distributed over three different surfaces, why do only those on the disused agricultural lots turn on?? (granted some of those on the grass might be lacking power, but it's not as straightforward as that.

in this third shot some are lit up and others are off. But on this stretch of them, (and to my observations thus far, this stretch only) turn off, then turn on again - like timed props...

In all of the above examples I had the game on cheetah mode and observed them over a long time. I also swapped between day & night to make sure they were setup (or not as the case may be) I've looked them over in reader and everything (bar the occupant size) seemed in order (but I'm no expert)

Can anyone shed some light (groan) on this for us?

thanks

I don't know if it works, but maybe if you change the format from RKT1 to RKT4 it might work more properly.

OK I'll try that, thanks (I thought that was only for if you want it to behave as a timed prop...) ()what() :)

Another thing, sometimes when the prop/buiding is not half-fully inside the lot edges, lights don't work.  I think the prop can over-hang outside the lot edges, but the prop "arrow" must be within the lot edges. Give it a try.

Bingo!!

I was aware of the building needing to be inside the LOT, but not the arrow section of the prop, thanks for that. (it works) However with the arrow inside the LOT, the prop is no longer positioned correctly. How does one achieve both?

You could always play with the "Occupant Size" property by reducing it a bit until you have the prop/building on the place you want, or render them off set.
