Over at ST, I've seen a few mentions of a High-Speed Rail network, but I don't know anything about it all. I'm just curious to see what it looks like in the game, how it works, what kind of content (stations, etc.) that go along with it--things of that nature. Is anyone familiar with it?

Also, as with any new topic I start, if this is in an incorrect place in the forums, please move it to a more appropriate place.

Well, from what I know about the HSR network, it basically replaces the monorail network. It was released in a "beta" version by 3ddz this past July, and can be found here.  The download includes new automata, as well as a basic station, and a massive "transit hub", which allows 2 HSR connections, 1 El-Rail connection, 1 Heavy Rail connection, and 2 bus stops.  I believe that there are a few other stations that have been released and are being worked on, and some automata skins and the actual models used for the track have been released as well.

The two founders of the project, Murakumon and 3ddz, have been MIA for quite some time--Olasz on the NAM Team had been doing some work with it. And it is fully compatible with NAM v20 as well as RHW v13 (I've tested it).  However, the crossing over the RHW reverts back to the monorail models, as I haven't made a fix yet (though that will be available in RHW v14).

It's also possible that sometime in the future, the Draggable GLR Technology that will debut in NAM v21 could be extended to make the HSR and Monorail co-exist.

Hope that answers your questions!

Wow! Thanks, Alex! I do have one question, though: You said that it replaces the monorail. Does that mean that you can only have HSR or monorail, not both?

Tarkus

You're welcome.  And yes, unfortunately, that does mean that you can have only one of the two networks, and not both.  Hopefully, we'll have solution to that problem soon, though. ;)

OK, thanks again, Alex. I appreciate it. I think I may download it to play around with it, but hopefully somebody can figure out how to use both the HSR and the monorail.

Thanks so much for posting the link, Tarkus.      There are so many great projects happening all at once.   It is difficult to keep up with them.   I have actually been looking for stuff about the HSRP.   I remembered when it was first brought up over at ST.    Then it sorta went away.   I might have to play around with it.      I wonder how I'd modify a monorail station so it would work with this????????
Thanks again.

Gaston, theoretically, all Monorail stations will actually work with the HSR because the Monorail becomes the HSR.  It won't exactly look right, though, because the Monorail tracks would still be showing.  3ddz did release the models for the track, which can be used in making HSR stations, but you'd have to already have or make the rest of the model for the station.

Fortunately, a modified version of the original Maxis Monorail station is included, as well as that massive transit hub, so you'd at least be able to get the HSR down to NSR (No Speed Rail  :D) in order to pick up passengers. ;)  (Okay, that was a really, really bad one . . .  ::))

Yes actually it was a bad one.   But it still made me laugh.    :D

Maybe but as gastion said it raised a smile :D.
Seriously though this is great work and pics you're teasing us with. Good to hear it may be compatible with RHW also.
