Largest map veiwable in Sawtooth Region Census?

Not sure if this is the right place for this post but...

What is the largest map by large tile area that can be viewed in sawtooths region census, or alternatively is there another way to view a large region other than in region view?  I read somewhere that there is a limit in region census which is a pity.  Thinking of dowloading some large maps by drunkapple.  Hes just released Auckland on the STEX which is HUGE  (17x17 large tiles).

I think the only limitation is the maximum width/height png or jpg can support which IIRC are 32765x32765 pixels
I don't remember the size of a large city thumbnail, so  I can't compute the size of a 17x17 large tile region
