New Computer after Hard Drive Crash -- Problems

Coming back to SC4 after many years and a hard drive crash; have rescued most of my cities, and have the plug in folders etc.  Buildings all show up in my "old" cities, but downloaded lots are not growing in my new ones.  Not sure what I'm doing wrong, since I haven't played in so long... SOOOO frustrating.  Can someone help?

So, I take it the buildings are there, and the lots with props and textures are no longer? I know it will take forever, but hopefully you can place the existing lots on top of those, and it will still work okay. When I accidentally destroy a building, and place the exact lot there, with the original building specs afterward, it acts like it never was destroyed, and behaves as normal. However, it only is possible with extra cheats.

I then have to use the building plop and lot plop option (not availalbe on apple computer), because growables usually do not appear in landmarks anyway. Are you saying that new downloaded lots are not growing, or your existing stuff got fried too? If new DL'ed stuff does not grow, you will need to go the building plop and lot plop route.

Otherwise I have had to transfer my date 3 different times. The first time I transfered, eventually I got prop poxed, and had to completely start over, very little cities were okay, but the last time, since I no longer had maxis sc4 DLC from the source, and no longer can access them to DL, I got problems back. The game then displayed missing plugin warnings, and goes so far to listing stuff, depending how bad stuff is missing. Are you even getting those? Those alone, the game then knows something is not right.
