Do you recognize these trees?

I had a problem with my tree controller installation. Then I sorted it out. After doing so however most of the god-mode trees I had planted before, which had looked like basic dark green trees, were replaced with awesome golden-green trees. I really like them, the mouse-over says they are oaks. Do you recognize the trees in the pic below? I have been all through the mayor-mode trees and I cannot find a way to deliberately plop these gorgeous woods.

These are the Maxis Oaks, and they can be downloaded as plops Here

Edit: Is this a custom tree controller?  Why it is placing so many Maxis Oaks may be another issue.

Thanks alot!

For ages I had CPT_No7a_Generic_TreeController in /Applications/SimCity 4 Deluxe/SimCity 4 Data/Plugins and it worked fine. Then at some point it stopped plopping variety. I hadn't been playing much so I did not notice at first. Then I did (see http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=12343.0). When I corrected the problem all the trees that I had plopped lately had turned to these oaks.

Thanks again for your help.

One thing I noticed when using certain custom tree controllers: If you minimize the game and then come back, the tree controller apparently gets confused and places a totally different pattern of trees, often such with virtually no variety. The only way to fix this is to restart the game (or at least exit and reload the city).

I am not having that problem, but it is funny how every slight change makes a difference. Since I installed the Plopable Maxis Flora Pack I am getting a better variety of trees at higher altitudes. In god mode the tree controller plops pines on high slopes that it was leaving barren. Also if the tree controller does not load last then the Maxis Oak trees shown above revert to standard darker green trees.

Sorry I didn't notice your post.

I posted This not too long ago.  It is a description of how tree controllers work.  There may be other descriptions out there, but I will send you to that because I was just about to say the same thing  ;).

It's also good to note that your tree controller will plant different trees depending upon the time of the year.  Just slightly enough to make you think something is wrong  ;).
