I'm not sure if this is the right section, but does anyone know how come the hospital demand cap max is 32000?

Is it anyway possible to increase it at all? I dunno like change the uint32 to sint32? Not really sure how it works.

JoeST

Well for one thing, I'm pretty sure uint32 can hold a larger value than that (232-1 = 4 294 967 295), and an sint32 would only hold half as much (the other half being negative). Have you attempted to change the value using ILive's Reader?

When I open the file in iLives for hospital patient capacity sometimes it will say my range is from 500-32000. Right now I have one opened and its allowing me to use -10 mil to 10 mil. Just messing around to see what the outcome would be I changed the value to 5 million and put four in a city that has 1.8 million population. When I query all three of the hospitals it says they have 5,020,000 out of 5,000,000. I don't understand how my the four hospitals can have 20,000,000 patients with a population of 1.8 million.

Also I have also I have 49 other hospitals that have a capacity of 32000 (The Grand Hospital). Got it off of STEX. Those 49 have their patient capacity at around 34k-37k our of 32k per.

I'm rather confused as to why these numbers don't add up.

JoeST

I think that's because they break if you change them after building them.

I'm going to start another city on a different region with modified versions of the hospitals and see if I can figure it out.

It seems in my cities with not enough hospitals to go around my desirability for R$$$ dies real fast.

I load up my city that has 3.8 million and as soon as I click play it drops to 2.2

Any civic building in the game, that has a capacity, will "unhinge" from the realities of the simulation if one of the following is true:

1: The building has an obscene capacity. For instance, a hospital with a little over 100,000 capacity will unhinge and be in a permanent state of overcapacity, even if the city doesn't contain many sims. You can actually break the bug by causing another bug through modding, and this occurs at obscene numbers. Tens of millions of capacity.

2: The city is incredibly dense. The game seems to partly decide capacity numbers based on density, and if your city is extremely dense you'll find that no matter how many hospitals you plop, or museums, or libraries, they'll always be overcapacity even if they serve more sims than exist in the city. For example, on a large tile with CAM, you'll start seeing this at 5+ million sims.

Note that this can and does occur (Easily) with the Main Library, the Opera House, the University, the Disease Research Center, and the Major Art Museum.

The first is easy to avoid, as most civic buildings simply don't have a capacity that large. The second, not so much. On buildings where you can adjust the radius, reduce it. On buildings where you can't, you can mod the buildings themselves to have smaller radii. Less area served, the less likely it is "unhinging" will happen.
