@Nexis: Nope, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden and Norway are using 15kV 16,7 Hz since about 1909 ;)

I was chasing some steam that weekend. Nothing spectacular but I like the railway line:

To keep this thread alive, some pictures of Nürnberg Central station, All trains are owned by DB (Deutsche Bahn)

DB 111-217
Series 111 has originally been buildt as express train locomotives. Here in S-Bahn service.

X wagen have been the base of the sucess of many S-Bahn systems in germany, but they are ageing as well.

DB 143-621  Series 143 is an ex-DDR loco series.

DB 143-624

DB 403-835
Series 403 is better known under it's name ICE3  or as Siemens Velaro. Allowed top speed in regular service is 330kph (~206 mph) but they normally do not go that fast

Some more pics of this day can be found in my DA gallery.LINK

I'm assuming the High speed lines use 25kV?

One photo of the most uniqe train in my region (western germany, somewhere between aachen and cologne...). Here at "my" train station

This one is called "Thalys" and travels from cologne over lige and brussles to paris. As you can see it's a TGV, but it's quiet diffrent. The front and end cars are the same designe as those of a TGV Duplex, the other cars are identicall to the TGV Réseau. ;D

The picture is not made by me, I only wanna show it

Skimbo

Mmh, Thalys, I hope to get one in front of my lense as well sometimes somewhere.....

2nd set of pictures from my germany trip, This time Fürth station and various companies.

LINT41.... sweet.  DB 648-318

and it's cab :D

Northbavarian rail - never heared of that company before

WLB is pretty active here too

ÖBB ICE 4011-190. < There is no other ICE train I've got more pictures of xD

DB class 140

And I continued my trip to other nice places of the City Fürth - more is coming soon =)

@Rick 420s! I wanna take pics of them too!
@Kitsune: Yay! Japan! Like the pics!
@Nexis:Cool selection!

This weekend I was on two small railfanning destinations along the route to our holoiday home in northern lower Austria.

The first spot was Heidenreichstein station, nostalgic use only.

The second one was Göpfritz, located along a railline I've already shown many ppictures of in here.

Yesterday evenng I took some pictures next to my hometown.....

The following spot has two disadvantages: First: it's located right in between a motorway and a railline, Second: you have to take care about golfballs coming from the opposite side of the railline xD LINK

I also want to continue my series of germany-pictures, the next location of my first daytrip was the huge railbridge over River Rednitz at Fürth.

Right at the beginning, this formation gave me hope for something special.....

Jackpot :D

TXLogistics....

"Sandwich" and catenary works

Unfair race....

Strange combination of trailer cars (3 new, 2 almost 40 years old)

And another trio :D

I hope you like all of them =)

Some more pictures of my first railfanning daytrip at Nürnberg-Fürth.

Not far away from the "big bridge" the three rail lines split. One goes north, direction Leipzig, Erlangen. Another one goes west, direction Frankfurt/Köln.....

ICE3 and alota green

... the third line is a regional line to the small city Cadolzbourg, many nice DMU pictures there....

Dann zog es mich aber in richtung Fürth-Unterführbach... hier noch ein Bild einer SBBCargo lok von dort...

I actually followed the second one for a few kilometers and arrived at Fürth-Unterführberg station.

SBB Cargo 482-031 carries "some" cars towards west.

And DB 401-817 speeds through the station right after it.

Oh, I love american locos. They look so much more powerful than the german ones.

but they ain't more powerful than most european ones. it's actually the oher way round. ES64 blows 'em away.

Here is the last part of the pics of my railfanning day 1 at Nürnberg, the three best ones of the series I took at Eibach station, a bit south of the center of Nürnberg.
