@kelis, noahclem, dantes, rooker, bat, peter007: Thanks very much for commenting. I'm glad you liked the pictures.  :)

Welcome to the next update ... presumably the last for this year and for this OSITM.

Today the journey goes to New Cumnock and to Doon Castle.

First a little snapshot of some fisherman:

The branch from the A76 to New Cumnock is situated directly next to this farm. New Cumnock is situated south of the A76.

Travelling on we come to New Cumnock passing the bus stop.

Here you can see some of the small houses of the settlement once called "Connel Park". This was where the laborer of the coal mine lived.
In 1950 a bad accicent occured. Here are some real life pictures.

Coming to the little town:

Passing one part of the former mine area which is a memorial for the victims of 1950 nowadays.

Some more impressions of the little town.

__

From New Cumnock we travel on into Galloway Forest.

You can see a technician from the hydro – electric power plant driving down whilst a group of tourists drives up. The woodpath is closed for traffic except for those vehicles needed for the supply and for horse carriages. Following the path we come to Doon Castle. Only the foundation of this fortress was left when a group of culture freaks was wandering to the ruin in 1980. The fortress was home of the brother-in-law of the legendary Robert the Bruce, Sir Christopher Seton. Fascinated by the changeful history of the place the group of wanderers began researching and they found this painting ...

... which shows the fortress about 1306 which was the year when Sir Christopher Seton was forced to flee from the enemies of Robert the Bruce. Fascinated as those wanderers were, they began to plan the reconstruction of the fortress. First it was nothing more than a crazy idea, but they succeeded in enthuse architects and sponsors for their project. And so the crazy idea became reality:

__

The reconstruction was finished in September 2011 and is a popular destination with beautiful view over the hydro-electric-dam of Loch Doon since then

Travelling farther up we reach the place where a  new Galloway Visitor-Center is under construction. Motivated by the completion of Doon Castle the administration of the forest decided to offer the accustomed comfort of a visitor center for the tourists which will also offer some rest rooms.

Turning west we pass the forester's house of Craigdarroch.

 :satisfied:
What a way to finish a spectacular, enjoyable, and much deserved OSITM.  &apls
The only thing better than all the wonderful custom content out there is when it is used in a way that transports the reader to another time and place.
IMHO rambuckle you have shown content makers great honors in your art.

Looking forward to the next journey through your imagination...

Cheers.

Nice river.
I wish that I could get there with my canoe.
Are there some waterfalls near the river? It looks like a very fast moving stream.

"The only thing better than all the wonderful custom content out there is when it is used in a way that transports the reader to another time and place"
i have to add: You show also a lot of self made custom content, here are so much wonderful new BATs again, the tower, these worker houses, this is a step the most never will do. I´m stunned. Your complete MD is quite outstanding!  &apls

Wow... :shocked2: Looks so real... All the nature and visible terrain shape!  &apls
Thank you for visiting Kolbrów, and for being for last ten years!

Kergelen

An update even better! &apls
I really like the third and 5th picture with the disperses houses. And the change to the PTM is a good idea.
Are most of these buildings made by you?  The textures are so reals. :o

@kbieniu7: Thank you!

@ Kergelen: Thanks for commenting and yes, most of the buildings (little white houses, farm house, shearing barn and stable) are my own BATs.

@bat, noahclem, art 128: Thank you very much! I take the compliment for the river as this is my own texture. But the pond tiles are made by "knapp" aka "DerGammler". It's him who deserves the compliments as those tiles are just great and you just cannot fail to create great things with them ;)

The Alba-Journey goes on travelling through Craigdarroch up the hill passing peacefully grazing horses ...

... a training area ...

... where Finola and Gavin can watch the training ...

... to the stud ,,Hillside". This ist where racing  horses and horses for dressage and jumping are breeded. The juicy grass in the hilly area offers best requirements for the breeding. The stud therefore delivers sure-footed and healthy animals which is reflected in the good reputation of the stud.

In front of the stairs you see a horse we already met. It's Sir Cookie who will have the pleasure to bless the mares of Hillside this year. This will hopefully result in many offsprings. He is duly welcomed.
