It is the versatility of the game and the originality of some Players, such as you, create with it that I love so much. Great pics, I see you spent a lot of time in this, inspiring me a lot both for play and modeling. ;)

@Noah, schulmanator, Gugu, FrankU: Thanks very much!
@Fred: Thanks a lot! Actually that's what I love about this game
@rooker: Wow that's so many flattering adjectives.
@kelis: Thank you!

Actually I planned something completely else  ;D. I already BATed some buildings for my next planned update and I just wanted to look through the available props in my archives when I discovered these beautiful buildings and I really couldn't resist to use them  ;). Actually I don't believe there's a university around Newton Stewart. First I thought about something like a military academy, but there wasn't enough space where I wanted to place the lots. So I decided to take the occasion to test some more Christmas props. As the university consists of 4 lots it was a real challenge to get all the lights glowing. Actually it was a matter of the right order in which I had to place the lots. As some props are hanging over I can just imagine that there is some kind of problem with the LODs although I tried not to overlap any LODs while lotting. Well I somehow managed to switch on all the lights. Around here we still have autumnally atmosphere but there's full christmas decoration everywhere in the town. Today I started the first christmas decoration in my new home. It somehow was a great feeling  :)

That's absolutely fantastic!

I'm also completely into the Christmas spirit. Street decorations are lit over here, and I think it's time for some snow.

Charming update, Theresa. While I was in the neighborhood, I looked back through your last few updates, and the quality of your work is amazing. I especially like the way you've "decorated" the areas around the farm structures. It looks truly realistic, in part because vegetation often crowds in behind the buildings and around fences. Your approach to this element looks great.

I'm a sucker for night shots, and yours are beautiful with the Christmas decorations bringing a cheerful but peaceful atmosphere to the entire scene. And you're right about the beauty of the buildings you used. As you have done in your other updates, you've displayed them with an amazing sense of casual elegance.

Love the update. I like the fence in the river, good idea. It's the small details that make for great pictures.
Great to see the Christmas Spirit spreading. It has snowed here in Toronto Ontario a few times now. This morning I woke up to about two inches of snow, had to clean the car off and give myself extra time to get to work. We also decorated the house last night, Christmas tree and lights.

@willy: Thank you very much! Actually I really enjoy the Christmas lights at this time of the year as well.
@Jmouse: Thank you very much for your touching comment! And your last notion about the casual elegance really put my intention into a nutshell. Thank you!
@nbvc, Gugu: Thanks a lot!
@rooker: Thanks a lot for your nice comment! Unfortunately we do not have snow yet but I hope it'll come pretty soon.
@benedict: Thanks a lot! I recognized that honor and couldn't really believe it.
@Schulmanator: Thank you! I had to smile about your comment!

It was in the news last week that there will be protests against the fur industry in several German cities. They are planned to draw attention to the cruelties which animals have to suffer in order to give their fur for our consumption. It was just recently that a video circulated that showed an angora rabbit on a Chinese fur farm whose fur was plucked alive. I spare you the link! But that's just one of many cruelties happening on fur farms all over the world. Actually I couldn't resist to express my statement in pictures. Just to avoid misunderstandings: I condemn nobody wearing fur, angora sweaters or any other products made from animal fur. Everybody has to make his or her own decision about it. This silent protest does especially not aim against furs made by those who hunt animals for nutrition based on fine tradition like the Innuits for example. Due to the hunting on industrial basis these fine traditions are actually in danger as well. This silent message protests the production and the thousendfold harm of animals just to supply the fashion industry with fur for the mass-market.

That's what the press reported:

And that's what happened:

It was around 4 am when the owner of the fur farm close to Newton Stewart woke up because of the alarm. He recognized a crowd on his premises and immediately called the police.

When the police arrived, the officers discovered that the lock of the gate was opened by force and they found a large graffiti on one of the stables.

While the officers started interviewing the demonstrators ...

... the workers enjoyed an unexpected but welcome break:

It took quite some time to determine all personal data.

As investigations just started the truck just loaded with fur had to wait...

... and wait...

... as the determination of all personal data wasn't finished until lunch time.

The officers inspected the graffiti

and confiscated some of the posters of the demonstrators like this one:

The workers still enjoyed the long break

While the owner of the farm washed the dog's kennel.

Very interesting news article there, I'm guessing that you wrote it? It was actually quite entertaining. :D

Loved the protest, very original and well thought-out. &apls

Great work on the previous update; the Christmas lighting and scenery turned out great  &apls

I really like the unique format you've used in the most recent entry. The scene's are excellently constructed and your original bats really shine. We have a significant fur industry in Finland and while I don't much mind the reindeer business up here in the north (they spend most of the year wandering free and are primarily raised for meat, not fur) the fox furs they make further south are pretty disturbing. Best not to get into the details of it here I think but quite unpleasant.

Anyway, keep up the great work  &apls

The university complex is well thought out and very nice!  &apls

The newspaper article is hilarious, surely your next BAT will be a moose space station. .  $%Grinno$%

Clever idea for an update, Theresa. The BATS are charming and fit right in with the theme you chose. Once again, you've decorated the area in your own unique style, and I think I could learn a lot from studying your work. BTW, I'm in 100% agreement with the protesters and their graffiti.

c.p.

Wow, what a fun update!  It's not very often I actually laugh out loud reading an MD, but in this case I did (the Moose census article was especially amusing).  And the fur protest was nicely done (especially the signs.) &apls

Swordmaster

Looking over the past few updates, you've clearly taken Alba to the next level Theresa. Anyone in the MD business will find it hard to match the quality displayed here, especially given your dedication to creating new material and the original storytelling.
