Well, Joan is at least 1/3 happy, having seen one of three photos! I, too, am still out on whether or not the CAM is right for me. I'm not a huge fan of skyscrapers. Although I'm not a big fan of industry either, but I've spent the past couple of weeks designing and terraforming a huge seaport and industrial area. So go figure!
Anyway that was a very interesting and informative update.

Until next time...
Joan

Hello, Dave!

Quote
So that's that, sorry it's not the most exciting update and I hope a few of you are interested by what you
see.

Quite the contrary, my friend! That update was very exciting for me. I'm still trying to see exactly how the CAM works and your experimenting with it is helping me out. As stewart_garden pointed out, some of the buildings that are produced by the CAM are less than desirable, but I'm sure that can be rectified. The traffic and demand pictures you posted show that the CAM can produce great results!

Pat

Dave ummmmmm its like 12:55pm cst on wednesday and i see 12 verrrrrrrrrrry verrrrrrrrry wonderful pictures of what you let happen with Newcastle lol... so maybe you leaving for the night caused it to work again and since joan allready commented too lol but a wonderful very wonderful update - pat no BS involved either  :D

Pat, I do my best work with my eyes closed lol.

Joan only saw one in three so they must have come back gradually. Yet another mystery for Mulder and Scully to solve.

Cheers

As the reigning queen of dumb questions, I have to ask another one. Did you download those CAM-ELOTS or were they included in the original package?
At this point in time I don't like the overdone skyscrapers, but a new element like CAM is bound to boost the creativity levels our more talented members here at SC4D. Maybe some will see fit to tone it down a bit, or maybe it's just my old self stuck in a rut.  :D
Meanwhile, you can be sure you're doing the community a great service by giving us a preview of CAM's possibilities.
And the RRs still don't look like they're connected! :P

Until next time...
Joan

You and the CAM are doing a great job -- some impressive development here!

stewart_garden: Don'y worry too much about the buildings. I have downloaded all of the CAMelots available on
the LEX. They are just like any other lot and can be removed if you don't like them. I will remove some in time but for
the moment I'm just going with the flow and seeing what happens.

tooheys: Thanks for dropping by Dave. Now shutup and leave me alone (only kidding, I really do love you).

Jmouse: Only 1/3 happy, does that mean you are 2/3 sad  /wrrd%&. I guess if you balance the two, you
might only be a tad depressed  :P
I'd love to have a look at your seaport, but given you haven't an MD I guess this won't be possible. Don't you
think it's about time you............
(what do you think Pat, should I risk my manhood and press the point  ;))

thundercrack83: Thanks Dustin, further to my reply to Stewart, there are obvious buildings that just don't fit,
but others that are lacking in detail but otherwise not a bad lot. I believe with the latter, it would have taken the
CAM team significant time to upgrade all the lots to levels that I guess we all are accustomed to today. Having said
this, I'm sure over time that a lot of these will be reworked. Nevertheless, there are a significant amount of CAMelots
and even if you only use half of these, I think you will still be pleased with the results.

patfirefghtr: Guess what, the pic's have disappeared again. It only happens when I log into ImageShack. I have
deleted all the pic's from the last update and will re-upload.

Jmouse: Joan, the CAM itself includes no lots. All the buildings are downloaded in seperate packs and like any other plugin,
you can decide whether to keep it or not. As for the RR, I hope this helps  %confuso

You can see that the RR from the industrial area connects to the main line which itself heads into Newcastle on
the right. Convinced??  ;)

By the way, have I told you I hate hills Lol

Schulmanator: Thanks for dropping by. Glad you like what you see and I will be providing some more pic's from Newcastle soon.

The Region

Milperra

R18,920 C3,733 I42,263

The only high density zoning in Milperra is industrial and you can see the effect that the CAM has had here.

Another look at one of the main transport arterials which will link Newcastle to the next big city.

Have I mentioned I hate hills.

The mayors mansion, she loves to look down on people, but can only do it from here as Mayor only stands 4'10"

The local hospital is centrally located. However the windows on the top floors are double glazed to avoid
patients viewing their next stop.....

....the home for the permanently retired. Although most of the relatives prefer to tell their loved ones they will
be able to take at least one more trip downunder  ()flamdev()

Cheers all

Dave

bat

That's a fantastic shot of the region! Also the pictures of Milperra are looking very great! Great work!

Jmouse

Oh, I really like Milperra. You're doing a fine job of dealing with the hills and making the town look really nice. I'll mark it as a favorite.
And thanks for the RR closeup. Guess there's something about two tracks in close proximity that make my eyes deceive me. I probably won't a have fancy transport system in my MD.
:o Huh, who said that?!

Until next time...

Hey, Dave!

Though you hate hills (I'm not a big fan of them either), you sure did a remarkable job building on them! And the industrial areas that you showed us this update are magnificent, too. I love the railroads. As always, it's a pleasure to see your work, my friend!

pipishere

Cool update! I quite enjoy hills to be honest and you seem to have done well there. The region is really coming together. Fabulous!  :)

bat: Bat, do you ever sleep, the number of times you have been 1st or 2nd reply here
is amazing, and most appreciated . Maybe I'll have to start posting at 3am your time and
see what happens, although it still wouldn't surprise me if you are still 1st reply  ;)

Jmouse: Did I really here that  ()what(). Hope it's true, but won't hold my breath  ;D. I'm pleased you enjoyed
Milperra, I think I spend more time working on a small area like that than I ever did for Newcastle.

rooker1: Thanks Robin. CAM didn't have a big effect on Milperra, apart from the industrial population. But tomorrow
I will bring some more pic's from Newcastle where the impact has been significant with the Res population
just passing 500k.

patfirefghtr: Jeez Pat, don't mention riot, with APEC coming to Sydney in a few weeks, and your dear Preso deciding
to come a couple of days early, I'm likely to have the riot squad bursting thru my front door any minute. sshhhhh

thundercrack83: Thanks Dustin, I'll grow used to the hills I'm sure with a bit of practice, I better 'cause most of
the upcoming towns/cities will be in hilly terrain. Except for this update, needed to rest the brain cells I've got left.

pipishere: Hi Pip, appreciate the great comments.

Garden Island

Garden Island is home to some of Balnavia's Naval fleet.

The main gate. Still to catch up with the computer age, passwords are still used to obtain access to
the base. Today, access is obtained with the following:

Challenge: The pine burns bright in the early morning light.

Reply: Pat douses the flames with his big hose.

The base has some of the largest warehouse facilities in the region, every ship can be supplied
with anything from A – Z. Deodorant is extremely popular amongst the submariners.

The captain of this ship, one of the most advanced in the fleet, once had a huge chip on his
shoulder, but soon came undone when he ran it aground. After, an investigation the following transcript
of the incident was released:

Civilian:  Please divert your course 15 degrees to the South to
avoid collision.

Balanavians:  Recommend you divert your course 15 degrees to the
North to avoid a collision.

Civilian:  Negative.  You will have to divert your course 15
degrees to the South to avoid a collision.

Balnavians:  This is the Captain of a Balnavian Navy ship.  I say again,
divert YOUR course.

Civilian:  No, I say again, you divert YOUR course.

Balnavian:  THIS IS THE AEGIS CRUISER BS LINCOLN, THE SECOND
LARGEST SHIP IN THE BALANAVIAN FLEET.  WE ARE
ACCOMPANIED BY THREE  DESTROYERS AND SUPPORT  VESSELS.
I DEMAND THAT YOU CHANGE YOUR COURSE 15  DEGREES
NORTH--I SAY AGAIN, THAT'S ONE FIVE DEGREES NORTH--OR
COUNTER-MEASURES WILL BE UNDERTAKEN TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THIS SHIP.

Civilian:  This is a lighthouse.  Your call.

Just a little update, but I enjoy doing these sort of areas now and again, and you
have to defend the homeland. Tomorrow, some more pic's from Newcastle

Until then

Cheers

Dave

bat

And I'm again the 1st replier after this fantastic update! (when you post your updates at 3 am at my time, I definitive not the first replier!)
Great pictures of that port!

Jmouse

Well, if a region must have a military base, Garden Island exemplifies one which is well designed, and the port fits in nicely. I'm all about seaports right now as I finish terraforming mine.
Doesn't look like G.A, has much in the way of permanent living quarters unless some of those buildings on base are habitable. Maybe that's why CAM had little effect on the town. Hope this means the monster can be controlled.

Until next time...

bat: lol, you can reply to this update while you are having breakfast ;). Thanks for the comments.

Jmouse: Thanks Joan. There is no zoning on this tile, so no CAM effect.

Newcastle (a final visit...for the time being)

R  549,935   C   312,011   I   99,243

Time to pack Newcastle away for a while, but here's a few more pic's showing some more effects of the CAM:

The commercial precinct has continued to show consistant growth but all the big changes have occurred across the water.

And I have finally fixed my night lighting problem (can't rush these things) so my first night pic's:

And a few new buildings that have popped up:

One of my favourites (left of the Ave). C$$ 3,377

R$ 2,031

Blue left C$$$ 3,397 (non cam I think) Blue right C$$$ 1,462

I git rid of the green futuristic building shown in the last update, then this grew. The ground must be cursed.
C$$ 6,630

Centre building R$$ 6,248

Left of fwy C$$$ 1,462

Centre C$$$ 6,827

So time to start work on a few more cities.

Until next update

As usual, Balnavia is looking good! Your growth with the CAM seems to going well, despite that patch of ground that seems to grow the weirdest available buildings! That maroon doesn't look as bad as that first one did, though. Anyway, great update! I'll be heading to New England next week for vacation, so I may miss some of your work, but don't worry, I'll catch up when I get back!

Jmouse

Except for the black-and-blue cloud puncher, most of the CBD buildings are tolerable although they look better in the night shots. And leave the maroon meat tenderizer alone. It can take its place beside the undying roundabout filler on page seven.
I do admire your courage in integrating CAM into an established city. Goodness knows, you've kept us entertained for weeks, and now you're introducing an element most of us have little or no experience with.
Like any radical change, CAM will take some getting used to. Eventually, I hope each of us can adjust it to our own style and taste.
So put on your cowboy hat and climb into the virtual covered wagon. You're an official CAM pioneer!

Until next time...
Joan
