Great update again Dave.  Sorry I haven't been about - RL is hitting me hard.  I am lurking reasonably frequently though and have enjoyed your last few updates - just not had the time to write any meaningful posts.

Cheers,

Stewart
First things first, but not necessarily in that order.

Fantastic looking port there, tooheys! Wonderful small update!

Jmouse

Oh boy, some more intriguing terraforming. And I remain in awe of (and jealous of!  ()flamdev()) the way you weave your transport systems together using tunnels and terraces. I tried to copy some of your ideas just for practice and couldn't do it even with the picture right in front of me!
And as for being a classic, you've always been one, you just didn't have an official label.

Until next time...
Joan

Wow, Yamba looks great, Dave! I love the ports and the industry! Also, from looking at your region map, I'm definitely curious to see how St. Leonards turns out! Keep up the good work, my friend!

Hi Tooheys.  Just caught up on your recent updates - boy have you been busy!!  &apls

I can only echo most of the comments and say what a fantastic job you've done and are continuing to do.

A couple of questions / observations .......

Sunken Highways... something I've always admired but never attempted myself.  Are they difficult? Is there any particular pack I should download.  Or do you just terraform and plop the highway in the "sunken" bit?

Region wide shots... They look brilliant.  But how do you "zoom out" on region view.  I just don't seem to be able to get a zoomed out shot like that.

Cricket description...  Quality, made me laugh.  But I guess you'd say that as a pom I know as little about cricket as our American friends  ;)

I look forward to future updates.

pipishere

Ohh....very cool updates! Love the port and Bathurst looks fabulous!  &apls

patfirefghtr: Thanks mate, keep this up and I'll have to start calling you batfirefghtr  :P

stewart_garden: umm, RL. I bet you've been having late nights trying to get your soccer fix  ;) Ain't
withdrawal a bitch  ;D Thanks for dropping by and appreciates the comments.

Hope Brisbane is treating you well.

bat: Thanks bat. Lookout, Pat is after your spot at the top of the replies  :)

Jmouse: What can I say Joan, just keep practicing  :) It took me ages to work it out, and I'm sure you'll get there.
If you want, I can PM you how I did the tunnels in the last update.

Thanks for the comments.

thundercrack83: Thank's Dustin, I really like Somy's ports and ships, and like to use them as often as I can.
I guess their only drawback is they are not job enabled.

paroch: Hi Paroch, thanks for the comments.

Sunken hwys are quiet easy. You can use jeronij's digging lots to get the correct depth and then just extend the trench
using normal terraforming methods to the length you require. If you have any trouble let me know and I'll PM some examples.

Not quiet sure what you mean by the zoomed out region view. As far as I'm aware, you can't zoom in region view, I just change the
size of the picture frame if necessary.

pipishere: Thanks pip, most appreciated.

And finally, it seems Balnavia is now a classic. Believe me when I say that I never thought that I could stick with a region
for this long, although I guess it has only been three months. I also didn't think it would be this much fun although all your
support, also unexpected, has been my main motivation to keep going. My goal now is to develop the entire region, so as
I mentioned in my first post, I guess you're stuck with me for a while (longer).

Thanks to everyone who has popped in either to reply or just have a bit of a gander. It is most appreciated.

St Leonards

Just a couple of pic's as I am terraforming for the city. Another large tile, so one that you will see take shape over time.

Site of the main commercial and residential district, the islands are linked by a series of underwater hwy tunnels
and a central rail line. Not certain yet, but St Leonards may have the first GLR in the region. Will have to see how it
fits in.

And up in the hills, the start of the lake, which will eventually drain into the river. Still plenty of work to be done here.

A proper update over the weekend.

Once again, thanks for the support.

Cheers

Dave

Well done on the classic status ... but this one has always been a classic IMHO.

Yep, I miss sitting down with a beer on a Saturday afternoon watching the final soccer scores come through ... especially now that my team has started the season well for the first time since God was a boy.  Ironically I have been working hard designing infrastructure, bit like Sim City really, but it takes much longer, and not everything is in 16mx16m squares...

Fantastic terraforming on St Leonards! Great work!

The transit in the first pic, looks very interesting, I'd like to see how this turns out.  I am so glad that you lowered the area where the lake is, it looks much more realistic than placing it all on flat land.  ;)

Wow, St. Leonards looks great so far, Dave! I can't wait to see some development! And congratulations on making it to the Classics, my friend!

Jmouse

Warmest congratulations on earning a well-deserved place in SC4D history.
St. Leonards looks very interesting, reminiscent of Padstow Quays, one of the first cities established. As for tunneling, I'd be delighted to have all the help I can get if you have a few minutes to spare.

Until next time...

Dave / tooheys

Thanks for the tips re sunken highways - I'll give that a go.

I am very impressed with the way you terraform your regions - you produce something both unique and interesting.  I look forward to the next update.

stewart_garden: Stewart, I've got to ask, Architect, Engineer? Bridges, roads, rail? Sorry, just curious.
Appreciate the comments. Hope you've found something else to watch on a Saturday arvo while having a beer
or three.

bat: Bat beat Pat  ;) Good to see you here as always, thanks for commenting.

rooker1: Hi Robin, thanks for dropping by. The lake has me more worried than the transport network, I think the bulldozer
may get a bit of a workout :) Thanks for the comments.

thundercrack83: Dustin, appreciate the comments mate.

Jmouse: Thanks Joan, no firm ideas yet for St Leonards, but I have made a bit of a start.

paroch: Thanks for the comments and glad I could help

St Leonards

St Leonards is progressing slowly. Here a a few pics (plus a couple more  ::) ) of work to date on the main commercial area.

One of the first transport hubs, and the first use of GLR in the region.

One of the accesses to the hwy that runs under the city. Traffic is low at the moment as most people are
coming in by train and ferry from adjoining cities, but this will change as the residential population of
St Leonards grows.

mmm, not quite sure about the GLR, but will stick with it and see what happens.

Maybe some more pic's in 24 hrs.

Until then

Cheers

Dave

And a good start it is!  I have every confidence that St. Leonards will be just as great as the other cities in its own special way. I like the CAM high rises you've chosen to keep. BTW.

Until next time...

Joan, just to set the record straight, the highrises are not growable, but plopable with jobs (although they are mostly buildings used in CAM lots). There are some areas I like to have a bit of control over.

Cheers

Dave

Great first development on St Leonards! Looking forward to more...

thundercrack83

Oooh, St. Leonards looks spectacular, so far, my friend! The skyscrapers are plopped perfectly! I'll be looking forward to seeing future development!

stewart_garden

Dave,

In direct response to your question: Engineer, Bridges.

Nice views of St Leonard's - always interesting to see cities in development and get a feel for how others do it.

Cheers,

Stewart
