St. Leonards is gorgeous, Dave, and your approach to transport networking remains fascinating. That road bridge that leads directly into a tunnel in photo 3 (left side) is a first even for  you, isn't it?!
Although I hate to admit it, I'm really starting to like the skyscrapers, and your CBD is especially attractive. Those night shots are the cat's meow!
And would you mind my using your forum to ask jimmymac for links to the mods he mentioned?

Until next time...
Joan

P.S. So am I. With luck, it'll be between 2 and 6 p.m., but no questions yet...just HELP!! :o

Pat

@ Joan riddle me not? i think aint that the time for a special deal somewhere?

Hello Dave,

I didn't comment previous updates, so...

College for Paddleboats Operators  &dance
I like this residential area on a low lying island. I think it would be good to make some holes in these walls to enable water to drain off during flood  ;)

More seriously I must say these walls are perfect done! I am also under impression looking at your transit network. It is very well thought and - I can say - elegant &apls
I see you use the new PEG CDK 3 lots, they are very nice, aren't they? I like you wharf area very much! It is very interesting mix of dense residential and recreational area

I have one suggestion: I have good Internet connection, but I noticed some problems with seeing your pictures. I checked their sizes and I see they have about 400 to 500 KB. It can be too much for some viewers with slower connection. I don't know in wchich program you prepare your pictures, but I do it in Photoshop. I set the quality of my pictures at level 8 (there are 12 levels) and I have enough good quality and size from 120 to 220 KB. It's only my opinion, but maybe you will think about it? :)

bat: Thanks again, always appreciate your comments.

thundercrack83: Thanks Dustin. Those trains go over the bridge regularily, but when you want a photo of it they suddenly go on strike. Happens to me all the time, must be camera shy  :)

patfirefghtr: Pat x 3, what can I say, I'll have to set you up with a room in one of St Leonards hotels if you keep visiting that often. You can pay for your own minibar though :)

M4346 & jimmymac: Thanks to both of you for the suggestions. I'm experimenting with the zoning but have also downloaded PEG's street mod. Will see how it turns out in a couple of updates time. Thanks again.

Jmouse: Hi Joan, glad you are liking St Leonards. Most of the high rise development is now done and I can go back to working on the lake area. Appreciate the comments.

Ennedi: Thanks for the comments. I will have the appropriate dept look at that drainage issue and I'm sure after many meetings, investigations, reports etc the problem will be fixed, just hope it doesn't rain in the meantime  :D

As for the pic's I acknowledge what you are saying. I don't use Photoshop or anything similar, I just convert the pic's to jpg using windows and resize to 800x600 when uploading to Imageshack. I can see that this could be a problem for some and will see what I can do. Thanks.

The population of St Leonards has now topped 300k. The major commercial development is pretty much complete and
future updates will concerntrate on the lake side of the river, a low and medium density area.

The island is now fully developed.

One more night shot to keep those energy stocks on the up.

In contrast to the commercial area, a touch of green.

The Museum of Museums. A rather boring concept really, just a collection of models and photos of other Museums.

Toohey's home, well I have to live somewhere. Just a standard house, apart from the 17 bars  ;D

Until next week,

Cheers

Dave

Pat

LoL 17 bars hmmm and i bet they are stocked with your name sake ehh dave? lol anyways a fantastic update my friend and also that as long as you have pepsi im fine lol....

A really great looking island there! Great work on that! Also nice pictures from the other part of that city!

jimmymac

Looking good, a very nice update there

As for Peg's streets, if you download SAM Beta 1 it has them in there as a retexture, plus a few more too which adds a nice difference.

thundercrack83

Beautiful, as always, my friend! I love your transportation networks, especially! Oh, and your house? Phenomenal! I'll have to stop in to one of the 17 bars and have myself a drink...or maybe 17 drinks?

Jmouse

And a really nice lake area it is.
You enjoy decorating parks, too, don't you? Personally I think it's a lot more fun than building CBDs.
Anyway, great pictures as always, especially those night shots.

Until next time...

Hey Dave,

I've missed a couple of updates.  The sheer level of detail in your cities never fails to impress me.  I particularly like the St Leonards Island.  You've cpatured a thriving downtown metropolis area very well indeed.

Thanks for the info on the Miss Mels Academy and I think I'll take up your advice on the PEG ferry terminals - still driving me nuts!  Also can you tell me which sea walls you are using, they look a bit different from my usual ones and I need some variety.  Thanks.

Catch up soon,
Paul

patfirefghtr: lol, I cater for all my guests, I even think one of the bars is a Pepsi Bar, No coke here (liquid or any other substance :D)

bat: Thanks Bat, I think it's one of the more diverse cities I've done, a bit of everything.

jimmymac: Thanks Stu, I have downloaded that and can put it to good use. Thanks again for the idea.

thundercrack83: Plenty of spare beds, so might as well try all 17.

Jmouse: Yep I do and yes it is.

paroch: No worries, actually I owe your MD another visit  &ops

Appreciate the comments. As for the seawalls, I use the following:

Shore Conforming Seawalls by jeronij (SC4D)
JRJ Shore Conforming Seawalls by jeronij (SC4d)
JS Seawalls by jaystimson (ST)

St Leonards

I don't think I have posted so many continuous updates for the same city but it is diverse, so I hope each is a little bit
different to keep your interest.

Gilligan's Island, home to the the national Mariners Memorial and named after our first naval chief of staff,
Admiral Gilligan "Ironarse" Picard. The nickname earned becuse no matter how many times he fell on it, it never
seemed to hurt. Tragically killed when he slipped on a wet deck and fell arse first overboard. He could not swim
and sunk, well, like he had an ironarse.

Back to the mainland and below the lake, the waters flow into a canal that winds its way down to the river.

The canal has pathways along both banks and is surrounded by medium density residential development.

My favourite pic last, I just like those buildings along the shoreline. Nothing special but they just seem to fit in well.

Not a large update, but maybe, just maybe, a few more pic's tomorrow.

Cheers all

Dave

urban

That are some great new pictures, Dave! And also wonderful looking last picture!

Shadow Assassin

So, Picard had a 'sinking feeling' that something bad was about to happen when he fell overboard?  ::)

Very nice work, everything is very diverse. The Museum of Museums is interesting. What's next... the Museum of Fire (long since burnt down, ironically enough)?

Love the memorial, and the canals are especially interesting. That's a smooth transition into the river. Nice buildings, too, they look right at home.

Until next time...

I agree with you about those buildings on the shoreline, my friend! They look fantastic!

The rest of the update looks great, as always, too! I love the Gilligan's Island and your use of the canals. Keep up the good work!

Hi Dave,

As you say yourself - one city, many aspects.  Really nice canal there.  Love the way you lined thepics up so it's a kind of non-mosaic mosaic, if you know what I mean.

The last pic is the best, but I think the mini sports park, tennis and pool, just adds something extra special.  Top notch.  Are the tennis courts the maxis standards or do they have a low wall/fence around them???

Thanks also for the links to the seawalls.

patfirefghtr: Thankyou my friend. You don't know the sacrifice I have made, I hate Pepsi, Coca Cola is the "Real Thing"  :)
Almost as good as Tooheys  :D

bat: bat, thanks for dropping by, appreciate your regular posts and always welcome your comments.

Shadow Assassin: Lol, good to see I'm not the only one making bad puns in this thread  ;D Appreciate the comments and the Museum of Fire, hmmm, has potential  &Thk/(

Jmouse: Thanks Joan, I enjoyed putting these areas together and I'm pleased at the positive response.

thundercrack83: Thanks Dustin, appreciate you dropping by as I know you have a lot on your plate these days.

paroch: Lol, the mosaic you have when you don't have a mosaic. Might try a proper one someday  :)
The tennis courts is one lot which can be found here.

St Leonards

Well, we're back again. Slowly using up the available land, so we might move on oneday, you never know  :)

A couple of small stations, just make sure you're in the right carriage, don't want to step out and break a leg.

A lovely little church, and one once highly regarded for it's healing services. This soon ended when the following
appeared on the bulletin board "Due to the Rector's illness, Wednesday's healing services will be discontinued
until further notice."

Hmmm, I don't even remember downloading this, must have been while I was in a daze downloading all the CAM lots  %confuso
Pat, I think this is where they make those implants I mentioned in Linda's Party House.  ()stsfd()

Thankyou SG

Until next update

Cheers

Dave

Shadow Assassin

Heh. That 'sinking feeling' was also felt by the survivors of the Titanic... :P

I love the grade of the rail line leading from the station, it really looks good. Everything blends together well. Shame about the church's lost reputation when it came to healing matters.
