Just me fooling around and exploiting the game ...  ;D

You can't leave it at that!  FAR bridge?  Details please...

Wow. First time in a while I've seen something in game that I have absolutely no idea how it could be accomplished. If conventional bridges can only be ortho and only single tile networks can use zero-slope technology...

???

Those bridges are claiming for a tutorial!!! I'm stunned...  &apls  Or did you manipulate the image...?   $%Grinno$%

...the bridge construction...

Ah, those Simcity bridges.....not always as easy as we wish.

Here, a little story about one of them that took several months to build and took the lives of 3 Sims.

The Bridge of the Ganoga River East is the connection of the Winding River Communities with the rest of the world to the East. A highway that connected the great inland cities with the coastal regions. Unstable landfills, savage forests, harsh weather conditions and a lot of biting, stinging and irritating insects were encountered during the long period of construction, but the bridge was finalized before the cold wintermonths arrived again.

The Idea, the Planning and the first arrival on the location.......

The Preparation and solidification of the terrain...

The Arrival of the material for construction...

The Anchors, Footings and the construction of the Pylons...

The first Bridge pieces...

The Construction...

...and the rest is soon to come...

Now hold on a minute Fred, we're still trying to figure out McDuel's witchcraft.   :P

Great construction pictures though

I liked the FAR bridge.. but to be honest, I liked the Ganoga river construction better.. I like stories  :)

@ mrbisonm: Quite a good idea to show how a bridge is being built.  :)
@ McDuell: Really, I didn't even have the slightest idea how you've done this. I know the Diagonal Bridge Enabler, but I didn't think that this was possible. Any explanation of how to do this would be a big help. :) Would be interesting to see what happens if soneone tries to create a FAR bridge with any other network than PS, because if there are no bridge pillars, guard rails etc., we will be left with a plain road texture crossing a body of water.

Durfsurn

I think I know how he did it but before I reveal what I think, I have got to experiment with something...

FrankU

Now this is really interesting.
Two ways of constructing a bridge: one is merely a digital game problem, the other is trying to get realistic images, more a matter of storyline and props...

I am not holding my breath, because that would be my death, knowing how long things can take, but I sureley am curious!  ()what()

McDuell

Beautiful pictures of the Ganoga river Fred!

Nope, no photoshopping at all. Everything is real here.  ;)

Over at ST, Ganaram challenged me to build a curved bridge, so here we go:

And another picture; no FA, but this time I put in some slopes. The technique for building it is the same one as before.

Happy guessing  ;D

gn_leugim

playing with the diagonal bridge enabler or what? you found a way to lay out networks that ignore the fact they are in water?   :satisfied:
