R/L issues sure can be a pain sometimes!  After what feels like an eternity and a few failures to get back into things,I'm finally to a point where I can enjoy spending countless hours building, destroying and tweaking to my hearts content...almost!
I've been lurking when I've had a chance, and am glad that there is still plenty of additions and creators/modders still active around the community. I got the itch to play again and reinstalled the game after a nasty HDD crash only to find that my Win 7 64 computer and or video card really hate SC4 and most of the tools, so I did something I never thought I'd do just to play a game..I bought a  laptop off of Ebay running XP  :P
So,as I wait for my whopping $130 portal to hours lost , I'm finding I have no idea where to begin catching up on the new goodies, what ,if any of the things I made works with them, and how much did I miss? ()what()

good to see a familiar "face" back again, I can't think of anything new that's happened, except for the announcement about the new simcity game being developed by EA Games, other than that its been quite quiet lately.

Hi welcome back!
I wonder about your remark that the Win7x64 computer does not like SC4. I do run SC4 on a Win7x64 machine without any problems. I had a problem with SC4-Pim, but that was repaired too.
You do probably use a lot of other programs that I don't know about, but the game should run fine without any fiddling with properties.

Welcome back!

To the best of my knowledge all your old stuff still works--and is very useful, so thank you  ;D

As far as what you've missed, there's a bunch of new NAM stuff, particularly the Network Widening Mod and a huge expansion of the Real Highway Mod. I've actually been hoping for quite some time that you'd come back and "concrete-ify" the NWM wide-radius curves. There's also OWR wide-radius curves under development....

Have fun playing and good luck with the new machine

The game never really liked my computer from the beginning! Strange graphics errors (didn't matter if I used the onboard video or my GeForce 8600GT) and even though I changed video card settings, compatibility mode ,added command switches to the short cut, changed affinity..nothing helped.Of course I was modding more than playing so it didn't matter as much ;D  Now that I've re-installed it, the issues are worse and tools like Reader don't work as they should..example, "Unknown Properties"..and all the fixes I've seen haven't worked, regardless of which version I'm running...never had any issues under XP.

also OWR wide-radius curves under development.... That got my interest peaked!!! Hahaha
I've looked into the new NAM and the re-textures for the roads, and it was appearing that the Curved sidewalk mods were incompatible...at least that's what I was understanding from the ReadMe..and I figured the NWM curves had already been done, but I haven't tried any of it in game yet or looked at the .dats

I'm still making my way through the year plus of posts and downloading, and will more than likely "tweak" things to my liking..so who knows, maybe I'll finally understand some of the more in-depth stuff that Alex and the NAM team are doing...doubtful but optimistic :D

I'm in the same boat: waaaay too much RL (marriage kaput, new career started, adjusting to being a single father of two kids). I was frankly intimidated at the thought of resumming mayoral duties. I have lurked. I see a new NAM version is out since last I played. I'm trying to recall how tab rings work - yikes! talk about being out of practice!
But let me just say one thing: how amazed I am again at the absolutely fantastic work that has been/is being done. The modders and BATters continue to amaze me. I can't bat a cinder block, nor mod the least aspect of the game we all love to play. So thank you to the modders, BATters, and administrators of this incredible site!
Sincerely, thank you.
