Splitting an automata dat pack

The overall project is to completely replace the Maxis freight train cars and engine with a single freight car type of custom length.

What I have managed so far:
1. Replaced maxis diesel engine with the BNSF GE Dash-9
2. Downloaded jestarr's sw77 train set
3. Modified the NAM_Automata freight train length property to 0x26,0x28 (38-40 car length)
4. Downloaded/installed the no maxis trains/caboose mod by SwordMaster

Then what I did was tried to pull the specific car I wanted out of jestarr's pack and create a separate .dat file for that car. However, in game only the GE Dash-9 shows, pulling no consist.

Any help?
