Hello,

I would like to know something. I was wondering how you zone your farm? 6x6? 13x6? What's the best zoning for farms? Does it matter to?

Thanks!

Well, it depends on what farms you want to grow. You can download many many excellent farms from the LEX File Exchange and the building lots vary in size. Some are 1x2 or 2x1, some are larger than 8x8.

If you are trying to get a particular 4x4 or larger farm to grow you can drag the overall farming area you want, usually something like 8x12 or 8x16, then unzone the 4x4 area where you want the buildings to be. Then Control drag the 4x4 building area. You can also do the reverse. Control drag the buildings and then drag the fields around it.

The game is by no means always going to cooperate. If it does something other than what you expected, you may have to unzone all or part of the farm development and start again.

You cannot control-drag a farm plot smaller than 4x4. So, if you are trying to plan for a farm with buildings smaller than 4x4, say 3x2 for example then what you can do is this. Drag the fields. Unzone the 3x2 area where you want the buildings. Then instead of click-dragging click and hold within the unzoned block. Soon the hole will light up to zone. Hold the control down and release the mouse to get the proper farm 3x2 directional zoning.

The zone size I use is around 15X15 plus or minus. There is no best per se. A stage 1 farm can grow on that 15X15 plot as will a 8X8 Stage 4 CAMpatible farm. It depends on how you manage the demand for farms within your own game.

I tend to do 10X10, with some 15X15 and even 20X20's tossed in

But if i download some lot for farms... i won't plop out if i zone bigger? The original farm from maxi will plop out on everything even if it's small or large? Why the custom farm doesn't do that?

I think it is time for you to do some experimentation. Make various sized farm zones and see what happens. Then change strategy and try again if you're not getting what you expect. Over time you'll discover the 'rules' of the game.
