How does SC4 choose what buildings to build?

I've been playing SC4 for a while and the one thing i hate about this game is that the same buildings keep growning over and over again.  My plugin folder is 2.15G = 100's of buildings and the same ones keep popping up.  5 or 6 of the same skyscrapers in the CBD. is there a way to fix this?  or does SC4 randomly pick the same dozen buildings over and over....

I am not absolutely sure how game chooses witch building to grow, but there is no certain way to fix the repetition. Both the game and custom content have limited resources, concerning the amount of buildings we grow in to our cities. There are, however, ways to go around this, or alteast to make it less visible.

Switch off the automatic cycle of tilesets and start controlling it manually. Build part of your city with one tileset. When repetitiveness gets too visible, change the tileset and destroy all buildings you wish to remove. New buildings will grow from other tileset.

Granted, that many lots will grow on all or most tilesets, but by no means all of them. Doing this will at least give you a good variety of buildings where ever you want them, or some "older" looking neighbourhoods near those more modern ones.

The CAM Board will provide more detail, but what grows is controlled by several factors:
Demand
Zone Density
Desirability
Tileset that is being built v. tileset of the building
Zone size (certain buildings only use lots with certain dimensions)
Then there is also what I believe is best described as a "lot preference" factor, which is why some buildings tend to grow like weeds.
If you want something to grow, try tweaking those factors (I'm not sure what your end goal is) and that will be a good place to start.
