kelis   Thanks! Glad you like it.

agunter999   Thanks! :D

art128      Thanks. But you know motor vehicles are banned in the capital. Cats do not like them.

Swordmaster   You do indeed! I think I got it from the STEX. Or maybe from the original SC4 site Maxis had. It's definitely an antique. But I like it.

East Tenne: Riding the Rails

In the very southwest of the capital city of Oak Ridge sits the nineteenth arrondissement, Pellissippi West. Named for the island offshore which now holds the Gilded Quarter (District XVI), this district sits in perhaps the most remote location in the National Capital Region. But, that does not mean this area is isolated. Au contraire, mon frère! Quite the opposite. This sector has been set aside for transit infrastructure and for industry. One of the foci for the area in the master plan approved by the City Planning Office is establishing a rail hub for the capital. A main rail station, Pellissippi Central, has been built. Lines lead out toward several other planned stations in the capital as well as out toward other cities in Tenne. At present, there is service to the regional capital of Roane-Anderson and the nearby towns of East Village and Robertsville.

Our train just pulled in to Pellissippi Central Station. Let's start exploring.

The façade of Pellissippi Central Station, gateway to the capital from points south and west

Pedestrian Griffin Lane is lined with shops to appeal to commuters and long distance travelers. This includes Schulmania's first travel good shop.

Locals live very close to the station and have a short walk to take them to jobs in the center city

Waiting for trains...

The station is the center of the district's street life but is not in the geographical center of the area. About half of the western side of Pellissippi West has been reserved for other transit infrastructure. So, the residential, commercial and industrial zones are clustered closer to the train station.

Across the street from the main station is a civic plaza, Edwards Square. The plaza is a great gathering spot for locals and train passengers. It is lined with commerce of all sorts, including a major hotel and a shopping mall. If you are waiting to make a train connection, why not slip across the street to the square and get a bit to eat and enjoy the scenery?

Edwards Square

The Clayton Grand Hotel on Edwards Square

Three Jacks Mall is the highlight of any shopping foray in the square. As you might imagine, it has a casino on the third level.

Next to the square and across from the train station is Pickett Place, featuring additional shopping from excellent, exotic and exclusive retailers. That's a lot of ex-words in one sentence! Excelsior!

Sisters Grace and Margot Bluray were very excited when their family moved into this building right across from the theater. They like movies.

Plenty of commuters ride the rails to come into the area to work as well. Tristan and his friend Matt both rode in from District XI to work here at the Law Offices of Lionel Hutz & Miguel Sanchez, LLC. They ran into their neighbor, Ali McNugget, who works in the same building at the outpatient clinic run by Dr. Julius Hibbert.

Céad míle fáilte! Welcome to O'Schulman Street, a residential road with some great amenities.

Lots of entrepreneurs can be found in these two office buildings. On the corner is Fenton Place, where technology firms such as iCat and eClaw have offices. Next door to it is the large Howse of Commerce (they had to change the spelling due to a copyright infringement issue with the House O' Commerce located in nearby Roane-Anderson) which hosts financial firms like Vulcan Logic Accounting and Bean Counters 'R Us.

Hannah Whiskerly commutes by train from her home on the corner to District II, where she works as a midlevel manager at the Bureau of Feline Affairs National Palace

Place Duchardt is a commercial plaza adjacent to the train station. On the corner is Hunt's Grill, which specializes in freshly caught game. You can even pounce on your own game and bring it in to be cooked. Head Chef Asher "Potato Smasher" Young says "If you can pounce on it, I can grill it!" The manager does ask that you call to make reservations if you catch a brontosaurus, as they take a while to cook...

The local church in Pellissippi West is St. Samuel's. Located just a few blocks west of the train station, this church is both one of the binding agents of the community and one of the most active community involvement organizations in the neighborhood. Additionally, the sanctuary features an impressive pipe organ. The pipes were cast in solid sterling silver by famed music manufacturer Stradimeowius. The silver pipes make an impressive sound.

Tonight the organist is having a concert, playing Purr-cell's Fugue in Fur Minor. Admission is free. Wanna come?

East Tenne: Awards Night

Here I am on the Riverwalk in the Feline Quarter, eager to sample some of the new exotic goods being imported in to Schulmania. A recent trade agreement with Myon has led to new flavors of Fancy Feast being imported.

Fancy new scratching posts have been imported from Port Matthew too. Ossie's Scratching Post, Schulmania's premier dealer of clawing accessories, now carries both domestic and imported scratching posts.

As I stop by for a catnip latte at the corner Clawbucks, I notice everyone is talking about the new awards being issued by the Bureau of Feline Affairs today. And I am most intrigued!

All over town, the focus has turned to the National Palace of the Bureau of Feline Affairs, where only 6 special awards will be given out. The Governor-General, himself, will be presenting them in an opulent ceremony.

But first, I am headed to the bookstore to see what's new. The trip to far off Myon has inspired some new feline sci-fi and I am eager to read it.

Supercats? That's what I'm talking about!

All the neighborhood kids are reading it!

Of course now the toy store is stocking ka'at accessories for purchase as part of a promotional deal...

Back to the Riverwalk for a while. I hope I am invited to the ceremony. Otherwise I will have to camp out in front of the bookstore waiting for the Star Ka'at sequel to be released!

I know a great place we can grab a bite to eat. Perhaps a tasty Fancy Feast fritter plate? We can try the new Myonian flavors.

Celebrity chef "Codfather" Simon has some fabulous new dishes. As it says on the menu, he'll "make you a meal... you can't refuse"

After our meal, we can wander around until the ceremony starts. Luckily, I was able to call in some favors and get admission to the ceremony.

We can walk through the park to the Gloriette. It's a great gathering place. Paparazzi should be there. Wanna get your picture taken?

There will be a reception at the Gloriette after the ceremony. Friskies, Pounce and Fancy Feast will all be served.

Time to head over to the BFA National Palace for the ceremony

I'm so excited! The six awards are being issued!

The new BFA Diplomatic Services Medal will be a new class of awards added into the quarterly Schulmania Awards Ceremonies beginning in Q3 2013. To qualify for this award, SimCity enthusiasts on Simtropolis and/or SC4Devotion need to personally receive a diplomatic delegation from Schulmania and/or the Bureau of Feline Affairs. In addition to receiving the medal, members will be granted a simoleon (§) next to their name in all awards ceremonies to come. It is the pleasure of the assembled representatives of the Feline Realms to grant the inaugural class of awards to these members:

abcvs (craig_abcvs) §
Curious George §
Hester §
Leech10 (Lyhoko Leaci)§
lucky7 §
ROFLyoshi §

Congratulations, winners! We look forward to increasing this list with future diplomatic missions.

My advisers are now collecting recommendations for the official flowers and trees of the three newest Schulminion regions: Hornisse, Mookimia and Mookimian Verà. If you would like to have input into the selection process, you may submit your recommendations here with the guidelines listed below:

1. For each suggested species, provide the common and scientific name as well as a picture.
2. Hornisse requires selections which are native to temperate, mountainous areas in the mid-latitudes
3. Mookimia requires selections which are native to areas including (but not exclusively limited to, but similar to)northeastern or northwestern USA, eastern or southwestern Canada, UK, France, Ireland, Benelux, Australia (non tropical), New Zealand
4. Mookimian Verà requires selections which are native to colder climes, including (but not exclusively limited to, but similar to)Canada, central Europe (includes Germany, Switzerland and Austria), Scandinavia, Russia north of 55 degrees north
5. Each selection requires an explanation why it would be a good choice for a feline nation

In the event that two or more recommendations are accepted, a vote will be held to make the final selection. In the event of one accepted recommendation, it will be approved summarily. If no recommendations are accepted, the regional governments will announce their arbitrary choices. Entrants may offer recommendations for the official tree and/or flower for one or more regions. Multiple recommendations per entrant are accepted, but we request that multiple entries be restricted to one tree and one flower per entry. If it is helpful, see this link for the official trees and flowers for established regions: http://www.schulmania.info/exclusive_files/xcl015.htm

East Tenne: Nyan Airlines

First, there was a vision. (Click http://community.simtropolis.com/journal/698/entry-19793-nyan-cat-vision/ to see the aforementioned vision) The visionary, one Rainbow Poptart ("R. P." to his friends) Nyan had the vision, but not the resources, to make feline history. The Bureau of Feline Affairs granted Nyan Cat money to design a feline flying machine. But now, he had to find a way to put his invention into production. For that, he turned to the international feline conglomerate, SchulmaniCorp. The CEO, the Archduke of Schulmanicus, was willing to invest in a factory in the capital's industrial district. But, fledgling Nyan Airlines needed investors and strong leaders with technical and business acumen. Nyan Airlines got off the ground (Get it? Hehehe!) when Nyan Cat joined up with avionics expert Dr. Steven Pilot and industrial pioneer Michael Vinawasho.

The Board of Directors of Nyan Airlines

Together, these guys have brought feline air travel from drawing board to reality. From this grand plan, Oak Ridge will become the new hub of a new airline. Time to visit Feline Capital International Airport (FCIA)!

FCIA is located in the National Capital Region's 19th arrondissement, Pellissippi West. The airport itself is located on the very southeastern edge of the capital, just off of the perimeter road, Outer Drive. The airport is accessed by Ed Wescott Boulevard, named for Schulmania's first feline pilot.

Wescott Blvd.  leads to Alvin Bissell Drive, which provides access to the terminal, support services and hangar.  Bissell Drive is named for Alvin Bissell, Schulmania's first feline to break the sound barrier in our new military jets.

The airport's hotel and restaurants are hosted in the Bill Wilcox Plaza, named for the inventor of the tuna-based aviation fuel Nyan's planes use. The refined tuna oil is prized both for its fuel potential and its taste!

Now that we've met everyone, it's time to see some planes.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QH2-TGUlwu4

The perimeter road, Outer Drive, runs right to left above. Ed Wescott Blvd. runs top to bottom. The entrance to Feline Capital International Airport on Wescott is marked with several columns.

The airport's chapel is located on Outer Drive

The airport entrance

The Transit Office, Schulmania's national transportation agency, has an office on the other side of the entrance. Officials are developing regulations for a safe and efficient fleet of Nyan aircraft.

Flanking the intersection of Wescott Blvd and Bissell Drive (left to right above) are the Minnie Reel Customs Hall (left) and Crisp ProForce Center. ProForce, the umbrella "protective forces" of Schulmania's police, fire and medical squads, provides airport security.

International passengers will arrive at the terminal and then be processed at the Customs Hall. Schulmania does not issue passports, as the government considers them unnecessary. The Bureau of Feline Affairs grants entrance to all felines regardless of nationality. Non-felines will be evaluated by officials for suitability.

Bill Wilcox Plaza hosts the airport's hotel and food court as well as additional retail and services for passengers. The plaza is adjacent to the terminal. Both structures were designed by famed feline architect Fred Imhotep, as was the hangar building.

The terminal is spacious and can accommodate thousands of passengers a day

Time to see the planes and fly the furry skies!

Now on the tarmac, Nyan Airlines Flight 1 is about to board. The control tower has been retrofitted with weather and plane tracking sensors by a shady Klingon subcontractor. We don't ask questions but we do get results!

Nyan Airlines uses FCIA as their hub airport and dominates departures. Some smaller airlines and private planes also land here.

Nyan Airlines has planes with two or four engines. There are 22 planes based out of FCIA for Nyan.

Final call to board Nyan Airlines Flight 1!

Flight 7 will depart in an hour. It just got fueled up.

Flight 3 is departing for Friendsville in an hour. This flight carries diplomats as well as passengers.

Flight 9 from The Wirdleplex arrived just a few minutes ago. Passengers will disembark shortly.

Let's hit the runway and get those seatbacks and tray tables in the upright and locked position. It's time to fly the furry skies!

Thank you for flying the furry skies!

Schulmania celebrates its seventh anniversary on Simtropolis with a special anniversary chapter. This year, the Supreme Wirdle has something special in mind for this date: a grand feline exposition in the capital! The site selected is in the eleventh arrondissement, the Fisk Quarter. The Government of Schulmania and Bureau of Feline Affairs are sponsoring this, the first Feline World's Fair, to celebrate feline culture worldwide. Feline and feline-friendly nations are invited to exhibit here, as are feline businesses. The exposition runs between now and the end of the year. We will see some of the expo site today and more as the year goes on. There are more exhibit halls available for feline-friendly nations; they are welcome to contact the Diplomatic Office if they would like to be represented.

Welcome to Expo 2013, the Feline World's Fair & Exposition! See our website [http://www.schulmania.info/expo2013.htm]

Let's get your ticket and begin exploring the expo site!

We will arrive at the Expo Station rail terminal located on the north side of the fairgrounds. The fairgrounds are encircled by Exposition Boulevard and connected to the rest of the Fisk Quarter at several major intersections. The road layout is fairly symmetrical in this part f town, so to help orient you, remember these key landmarks: Expo Station is at the northern end of the fairgrounds and the Midway Plaisance is on the northeastern corner. The BFA and Schulmania Promenade is on the west side and the natural recreation areas are to the south.

Your conductor wishes you a great trip as you disembark at Expo Station. Welcome!

As we exit the station, excitement fills the air!

Ticket booths in the station provide an easy way to enter the fairgrounds prepared and ready for sun!

Let's go to one of the entrances. Luckily, we got our tickets at the train station, so no lines for us. Tickets cost two purrs each, but many businesses sponsoring the expo are offering them free to their customers. Feline National Bank is offering free tickets to any customer making a transaction this during the expo, limit four per transaction. SchulMart has a buy one get one free special on tickets in its capital area stores as well.

Let's head in!

Everyone hold paws so no one gets lost!

Let's look around. The Court of Honor is close by and features a nifty reflecting pool. You can rent a paddleboat and go fishing in the pool. It has been stocked with docile, easy to catch fish... everyone leaves a winner! These fish are so lazy they'll just about jump into the boat to avoid having to swim around. And you thought shooting fish in a barrel was easy...

The Commerce Pavilions East and West flank the end of the Court of Honor near the train station and host exhibits from many of our corporate sponsors and supporting businesses

Want to fish?

The pool has been stocked with bite size tuna, salmon and sardines. As George Takei would say... "Oh Myyyy!"

Did you want to visit the Klingon Empire's pavilion? They have batleth competitions at the top of every hour. That's some serious fun!

Let's walk around a little before we head over to the Feline Culture Hall for some fascinating exhibits...

And now to the Feline Culture Hall. There are hundreds of exhibits inside detailing many aspects of feline culture. The full range of feline society is represented here, including competing exhibits of Ceiling Cat and Basement Cat.

Enough learning! Let's head over to the Midway for some fun! There are quite a few attractions there. We'll only go to a few at the moment. Of course, if everyone is good we can go back and have some more fun before we go home. Let's go have some fun!

At the Golden Corral you can visit a replica frontier town. There are re-enactors in every building plus horse and carriage rides. You can rent a period costume and join in the fun as well!

Head over to Trixie's World o' Llamas! It's llamazing! Schulmania's biggest  collection of llama paraphernalia and see all of Schulmania's Trixies on display together for the first time!

How about Lolcat Movie Studios? As you know, cats rule the internet. And cat videos are cinematic gold. Wouldn't it be great to see thousand – nay, millions – of cat videos? You get behind the scenes tours as well as the chance to start in your very own lolcat video. It's a can't-miss attraction!

If you think that's all there is to the Midway... think again, pal! There's dozens of fascinating and exciting attractions! If everyone cooperates and no one is naughty, we'll be back to see more of the Midway. Here's proof of what cool stuff awaits you:

Time for more learning and culture... we are headed to the west side of the fairgrounds to the Schulmania and Bureau of Feline Affairs exhibit halls. A promenade from the west entrance leads to Schulmania Hall after passing by the BFA Hall.

The western entrance, with the promenade leading to Schulmania Hall

The VIP Guest House sits next to the west entrance. Visiting dignitaries and assorted other cool people get to stay here.

Royal Calico Hall Arts Center is on the west side of the fairgrounds as well. Prominent artists and performers come here to give special showings to visitors. Anyone who's anyone in the arts and entertainment sectors will be here over the course of the expo.

Behind Schulmania Hall is the Arts Quadrangle. Four identical structures with leafy courtyards feature extensive collections of priceless feline arts. The two closest to Schulmania Hall feature paintings and sculpture. The other two feature metalwork and glass/textiles.

The BFA Hall features many exciting pieces of feline historical importance. The centerpiece exhibit features relics from St. Francis and St. Flora as well as original historic documents of extreme importance, such as the BFA charter and the Coronation Accord.

The largest exhibit hall was built for the host nation, Schulmania. Schulmania Hall has a massive array of feline cultural and historic and technological displays sure to enchant any visitor. Additionally, the regions of Schulmania have their own exhibit halls to highlight aspects of their unique areas as well. Amongst the many fascinating things to see and do are the Supreme Wirdle's favorite fur comb and her collection of royal collars. And if this is not exciting enough (we know it is – this is hypothetical...) there's the World's Most Climbable Curtains and the Mechanical Mouse Pounce-A-Thon. Truly, there's something for everyone! Let's see Schulmania Hall!

Let's claw some furniture!

One of the highlights of Expo 2013 is its signature architectural piece: The Wirdlesphere. This observation tower (complete with snack bar and gift shop) is Schulmania's Eiffel Tower. The observation deck is reached by a lift powered by many hamsters in exercise wheels. The windows are tinted with 24K gold, emulating the golden paw of the Supreme Wirdle. This architectural gem was designed by Expo 2013's lead architect, Sir Matt Trois-Vingtcinq. A ticket to go up is only 1 purr. Let's do it!

Isn't it a dandy? Let's see what the view is from the observation deck...

Dazzling! And welcome once again to Expo2013, the Feline World's Fair & Exposition located in Schulmania's capital city. We will revisit the site and explore more of the premier cultural event in the Feline Realms this fall. Happy SchulmAnniversary!

I fully enjoyed my visit, it gave me a wonderful picture of this great nation. The drinks were slightly expensive but the quality of the food available made up for that. I was welcomed pleasantly and transportation to the event was easy albeit a bit busy. Some of the displays were fantastic
