Night lighting on props

I've recently tried something new.  I created a building, and am trying to use it, not only as a building, but also as a prop (purpose is to create a lot with multiples of these buildings...but of course, you can only have one that is a true "building").

So here's the problem.  I'm currently testing it out myself, and the night windows don't light up in the prop buildings...only in the actual building.  Is this just a fact of life, or is there something I can do to make the night lights work on the props?

Not sure why only the main building is lighting up...maybe it's because the same model is being used.  Have you tried using a blank building and just use the props? The only thing I've done in the past is have 2 separate models that lit up.  You could also try rendering a separate model for the prop, so the model name is different.  Maybe one of the modding geniuses can shed some more light...

sorry, couldn't resist that one  ;D
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it

Well, thanks...but actually they are different models.  Well, it's the same model, but with colors changed, and in some cases, rotated...so it's not the exact same.  It's very bizarre, as in the BAT preview, they lit up just fine.  I then classified them as props rather than buildings.  I can post a picture over the weekend so show.

It's prolly due to plugin maneger. When you create the prop there, make sure that the option lightning is set to true, as it's set to false by default. I can't remember exactly where the light option is, but its when you drag the model file to the prop thingy. Hope that helps!

Homefryes,

In the prop exemplar, make sure the property "Light" is set to "True". This is what makes props light up at night. You should see the property present in the Maxis Plugin Manager when creating the prop. If you are making the prop exemplars from scratch, you will probably have to add it manually.

PS: I love your American Houses that you have made so far ;)

Well, I'll be darned!  I never thought to look there!   :P  Thanks for the tip, metasmurf and Swamper77!  That was really bugging me!

P.S...thanks for the "props" (no pun intended)! ;)
