My first creek ... located in Crystal Bay County. It's a hotspot for local youths during summer. The elder don't like it for it's muddy banks ..

If it's a good idea, go ahead and do it. It's much easier to apologize than it is to get permission.

That's a great picture Rady. An excellent composition of a variety of game elements. I love the shoreline of that pond.

Which terrain mod are you using to acheive such a wonderful and detailed ground texture?

It isn't a terrain mod, it'S a mixture of several plugins:

PEG PPond Terrain Props Pack 1
http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=22701

PEG PPond Kit
http://simpeg.com/forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item993

cycledoggs "ploppable rock" collection

and all the stuff from the Rural Renewal Project (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=2352.0). The most important part of this is the "green gras" flora that I have used to cover the standard maxis grass texture.

So, another hard days work: Opal River, winding through Opalstone County. Throughout the year, you will find many SIms enjoying their free time at Radys Hunters Lodge.

BTW, what I'm missing desperatly is some ploppable water stuff to make the river more vivid, e.g. around the boulders ... if anyone could direct me to some stuff, that would be appreciated.

Rady - Wow! Amazing pictures!  &apls &apls

The RRP Pasture Flora Pack has ploppable objects in it like the white wildflowers that give the illusion of extending out into the water. They might fit the bill for what you're trying to accomplish. Some of the ploppable rocks also work similarly.

I've got that, but it will also cover everything else for me, inclusing paths and roads. Yours seems to flow so smoothly.

Lovely river Rady! The details on the shores are a pleasure to look at  &apls

Thanks tag_one and Ennedi, much appreciated   :)

Ennedi, that is a HUGE compliment from one of the best coastline gods around! Probably should have entered that pic into the comp instead of the other coastline... Cheers mate.

Well, it isn't easy. You can try the waterfall effect from this set

JRJ Rural Culverts and Water Effects

But it is difficult to merge it nicely with the ploppable water. I made something similar some time ago, you can see the stream with water rapids in my MD "Ennedi Plays Shosaloza" (updates 12, 13, 14). Another thing you can try are David's (dedgren) ploppable water rapids, but I don't know where to find a link for them. Maybe you should look at 3RR (I suggest you to find the Table of Content page  :))

SchultzCity, I like your use of ploppable stuff very much! Placing RRP grass both at the riverside and under water is a very good idea, it makes your coastline smooth and natural. I like also how do you merge various kinds of grass. Many people cover only a narrow coastline stripe by ploppable stuff and it looks unnatural. You cover larger areas by grass and you hide borders between ploppable and terrain texture very well!

This is a good method. Your pictures could be used as an example in the "Working with ploppable flora" tutorial  :)
Also, nice and subtle photoshopping!  ;)

Thanks Adam  :)

I discovered the RRP grass a couple of weeks ago by accident. Slipped a bit, and it went right through water and some land, and it looked spectacular! It's my new favourite ploppable, and I use it everywhere now. I try and get the natural look by remembering 'layers'. Water > shoreline > scrubs / grass > scrubs / grass (I interchange these) > shrubby trees (to provide a marshy look) > small trees > and then finally larger, forest type trees.

You are more than welcome to use the pictures if you want to :)

I like to darken the image slightly in PS just to give a nice 'atmospheric' look, I find it adds a lot to the nature shots.

Thanks again :)
Jacob.
