If I remember right these are suppose to go on the top corner (inner) with wall at the top, like the one at the top right corner of the picture.

mrbisonm

vester is right. These two pieces are meant to go inside an inner corner and not on an outer corner. In other words, they're upside down. You need the piece that does not have a fence. Hope that clears this up.;)
Remember: fences and walls are ALWAYS on top of the hill.

That would be a good trick.

However, I have seen fences at the bottom of walls specifically intended to keep people off the wall. I've also seen them used at the bottom to avoid the visual effect of a fence on top of the hill.

But yeah, that particular piece is designed for the fence to be at the top of the hill. There should be a lower diagonal too. The issue with the fence appearing part way up the hill, as I recall, is the prop location on the lot puts it on the hill in one rotation and off it in the other.

FrankU

If you all take a close look at the image you will see that not only the fence, but also one of the shrubs is floating in the air.
And if you try to imagine how the slope would look without the Diagonal Edges Mod, you will realise that the fence and the shrub are exactly on the heigth of where the slope would be if the DJEM was not used. At least: that is my theory. Somehow the game seems to put the props on the heigth where the DJEM-less slope would be....
Any thoughts?

In addition, you can clearly distinguish those pieces by their description, as it says (see your screenshot) "Residental Wall Upper Diagonal". This is with most of the diagonal wall pieces of any creator I'm using, they are desribed as upper and lower piece respectively.
If it's a good idea, go ahead and do it. It's much easier to apologize than it is to get permission.

Oh, by the way, fantinette,
You are new here, because I saw it was your first post. Let me welcome you to this site!  &apls

Does fantinette mean you are a very tiny fan of SC4?

fantinette

Thank you for your replies

Well, i putted the lot upside down and i have always a fence issue. This one does not appear on the left corner but is here on the right corner  :'( Before plopping the lot i see the fence on the "shadow". But once plopped, no fence anymore.

The problem can possibly be fixed with the diagonal jagged edges mod (DJEM) - http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1690. The reason why the fence does not appear on half of the upper diagonals (superior) pieces is because the way how terrain elevation and diagonals are computed by default :)

memo

Actually, I don't think a DJEM would make any difference. As you can see in the picture, the diagonal edges are not jagged at all, as the height difference is big enough to switch the terrain polygon's orientation. A DJEM would lower this threshold, which would however have no effect in the pictured situation.

My best guess is that it is a limitation of the Lots/terrain configuration. If I recall correctly, I had experienced similar issues back in the day. Those Lots had been released long ago, before BuddyBud developed some sophisticated methods in terms of prop placement, involving rendering props off-centered etc. The problem could have been solved like that, I think.

mrbisonm

Hm......strange. I use these walls any many others quite often, but that the fence has not shown up on top never happened to me before. I will try to have a look at them ingame closely later tonight and I will get abck to you.
I wonder, is the terrain flat and level  on top?

teddyrised >> The DJEM is already on in my game
mrbisonm >> the terrain is perfectly flat and the hill is 15m hight

mrbisonm

I finally have checked them out in my game and they all work perfectly, and I don't have the DJEM installed. I couldn't think odf anything else than either the terrain is not flat enough or maybe you have chosen the wrong lot. I wonder, are there two sets of these walls, one with walls and one without? I only have the one with walls and as I said, they plop right.

Sorry, can't help you more, maybe try to re-install them......

Good luck

Fred
