There's about 8 or so installs recommended on the site to download that should stop bases of residential, industry ect from turning "blue" or stop the "water underground" type effect. I had all of them installed except Install_BSC_Textures_Vol02

I downloaded it yesterday, ran a "cleanitall" that didn't find any files to be removed before the Install_BSC_Textures_Vol02 install.  Am I missing something? Is this a problem that there is no resolution?  I just purchased a windows 8 hp desktop and installed SC4D in Feb.

Currently I rotate the screen clock-or counter clock to get the 'ground' to reappear under these props, but after about 5 min or less, the ground disappear and back to the subgound watertable under the props.

Help.

Hi Sim.Rico

First: a file called install_etc. is an installer file. You should run this installer so that it unzips the meant file and puts it into your Plugins folder.

Second: some of us use lots without base textures but with overlay textures. When these overlay textures have transparent parts (most of them have, otherwise the overlay property would be of no use) the game show one of its many flaws: the transparency makes you see the background of the map through the map. So then you see the blue underground. There is nothing you can do except maybe relot the lots and give them base textures. I would not reccomend that though.
You got to get used to this. Most of us have already.

Hi Frank,

Sorry for taking this much time to respond. I havent received any email notifications until 05/27, yesterday. I dont know why.   Hey thank you on the tips. Ive also noticed going to 'view zones' then click back to 'show all' but lose the but lose the 'fix' after each Save.

Can you elaborate on what the zip file mentioned does for the game base disappearing issue?   You are correct , looks to be a flaw inherited in the game and just have to contend.

Hi Sim.Rico,

You were talking about "Install_BSC_Textures_vol02". When you have a file with this exact name in your plugins folder you will not have the textures that are in this file. The file is an installer file: it is an executable. You should double click this file. Then you will see that an installer program will install the file called "BSC Texures vol02.dat". This is the file that you need. It can be read by Simcity and now the textures are available.
Probably the blue bases are gone now.

Good morning Frank!

I missunderstood and thought i was reading that you had a suggested install to grab and unzip to my plugin folder.  Re - reading your post, now i see that you were referring to the installation procedure itself.    I just need a coffee and will wake up.  :D

Ive already added all the texture files i was missing from the 8 or so files, ran cleanitall also where it removes any conflicting files first.  And as youve said,  its a flaw in the game. The blue returns after each 'Save'.  I have to repeat the "view zones / view all" steps to make go away

Can you please post an image of the lots that are causing issues? It makes it much easier for us to trouble shoot. If you can also query them and tell us the name of the lot that would be great.

Hi Diggis! Yes, I'll gather the info over the weekend and post by Sunday night or early  Monday.  Will take some screenshots when the base disappears, then when I do the "view  zone" / "view all" menu options showing the base returning back to normal, then after doing a "save" to sow the base disappearing again,

The screenshot will include a variety of residential lots ( I will list the names in case it may be the type of base used on these lots)..  and ALL of the industrial zoned bases where bldgs. reside goes blue or black (after doing a game-save)

Hey there, here are a few pics. I will post the lots by name later, but this one is an example from a Jmeyers residential (will get name later). And I have downloaded all dependencies for this lot.

First, two close ups of before and after saving after a few minutes of gameplay, then snapshots of a sequence done to remove the blue underground during my gameplay:

Close Up - After loading game and before I save a session

Close Up - After Saving a game play session

MANUAL SEQUENCE DONE AFTER EACH SAVE

1. After Saving A Game Session : loses the base or ground (for transparent bases)

2.  Go to Data View - Zones:

3.  Go back to Data View - All Off (transparent or base restored until next Save)
