how to arrange folders within the SC4RH addon folder so all addons work ?

Would rearranging the dat files from where the exe puts them to into the following folders
(based on the category type) affect wither or not they show up in game ?

I wanted a way to make it easier to find stuff and to reduce the length of the folder tree
(SC4RH addons > folder1 >  folder2 > folder3 etc)

Category Civic
Category Commercial
Category Dependency
Category Industrial
Category Landmark
Category Modds
Category NAM
Category Parks
Category Residential
Category Rewards
Category Transport
Category Utilities

etc
(the zip files are organized into folders the same as above based on BSC Exchange categories)

I had a problem with some buildings not showing up (SC4RH Gift Box)
so I am re-downloading everything but before I install it all
I want to come up with an effective method of organizing the contents
of the SC4RH addon folder

your input would be appreciated, thank you

Easiest solution in my opinion is to set it up exactly the same way it is in game....but I add in stages in comm., res., and ind. and than the author's name than thier BAT folder.  Make sure you label everything very clearly.  I have built my plugins folder about four or five times over the years and this is how I have mine setup now and believe this is the best organized way to be able to find things again.

001prop
002textures
Commercial
     stage1
           Author
               BAT
     stage2

and so on.

When you are DLing it is important you read the readme and collect dependecies as you go.  I highly doubt you need to reDL anything, you are just missing dependecies and this is the reason for the brown boxes.
Hope this helps and good luck

For the game it does not matter in which order or which subfolder you put your stuff. As long as it is in the plugingsfolder and as long as it is the correct filetype (even renaming does not change that) the game will read the file.
But if you want to find something back for any kind of reason it is wise to do some organisation. You probably guessed this, but now you are certain.

There is one thing: sometimes certain files, especially modifications, overwrite each other. This should not happen, but it does. In that case it is important that the most important one is put in a folder that is read last. You can make foders that are called Z01_etc and Z02_ etc for these kinds of files. Mostly this kind of files have a description in the read me that tells you to. Like the seaport controllers and certain CAM files.

I am downloading ALL Dependencies zip's as indicated in
http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?page=4 and
LEX Categories  (LEX Advanced Search) Dependency, Dependency - Props, and Dependency - Textures

also as (before I click 'save') I download the zips I an renaming them to the name on the download page

for example http://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2458
Install_skyscraper_BusinessTradeCenter.zip becomes Business Trade Center.zip
this way I can keep better track of what I have downloaded

also I am downloading the zip files into folders (as indicated above) by catagory including but not limited to:

Category Civic
Category Commercial
Category Dependency
Category Industrial
Category Landmark
Category Modds
Category NAM
Category Parks
Category Residential
Category Rewards
Category Transport
Category Utilities

The reason for re-downloading everything is two-fold, one to get newer versions of the zip files, and two (most importantly)
is because I had so many zip files that it became a jumbled mess, and it is easier to just redo it all

thank you for your help

PS,

does it matter what Plugin folder to place the files ?

I have read somewhere that some files go in C:\Users\Owner\Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins
while others go in C:\Game Files x86\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Plugins * , **

* Origin version "The Sim City Box" 4DVDs with SimCity 4, SimCity 4 Rush Hour, SimCity Societies, SimCity Societies Destinations, SimCity Societies Snap City

** my games are not in the default location
(I have "C:\Game Files x64" and "C:\Game Files x86" folders that I put my games in:
If at install it lists "C:\Program Files (x86)\..." as the install location it goes into the folder "C:\Game Files x86\...")
