Hey SC4Devotion! So I decided quite a while ago to start BATing to solve a problem regarding the lack of Sci-Fi BATs on both the LEX and the STEX. And with that, the Mass Effect: The Milky Way or ME:TMW BAT Project was formed and I now take on the task of creating various content from the game series "Mass Effect". You may have recognized my Mayor Diary from time to time, and that it has various non-existant BATs that cannot be found anywhere. But now, I'm in the process of releasing a number of BATs on the LEX and STEX, and you can follow any progress, problems and ideas I unveil for the project.

Thanks for taking the time to visit, and I hope I have some Sci-Fi supporters over here, as I know that SC4D is a lot more leaned to traditional architecture and not so much into-the-future :P

I have already released my first BAT which is the Prothean Data Cache from the mission Priority:Mars.

Look out for more of my BATs and progress here at SC4D, and for some extensive coverage of my previous progress, check out my BAT thread at Simtropolis as well!:

UPDATE.

My prefabs are getting nowhere and somewhere. I guess it all depends. I'd just like some opinions on it, may be a comment on if the lighting should be fixed, or instead of a self-illuminated window, should I just model the interior and add omni-lighting on the inside instead?

And, the second BAT on the bottom right corners of the picture is a model of the opened door version of the BAT that allows access into the prefab unit. No, this technically hasn't been textured in 3ds Max (more like sketchup) and the current textures serve more as a base because I can't seem to overlay textures on a blank sketchup model. In any case, I'd really appreciate some opinions, if it's alright the way it is, or if so & so like I stated before (or if you have any criticisms of your own)

;)

whatevermind

Nice to see you're releasing some of your BATs! You've had some beauties on display in TMW.  ;D

As for the prefab, I think the self-illuminating window produces a more sci-fi effect, as does the closed door model, so I would stick to that line of modeling for these. The somewhat amorphous textures for the doors/windows works as well.

Thanks. So I'll probably try to keep to the self-illuminating windows for nightlighting then (assuming no one else objects :P ). As for the textured doors, the left model is more intended as an extension to the prefab units (they should fit almost as if you were putting together a puzzle) to give variance what could be done with the BAT. I will however, consider texturing the doors for a closed door model, but I don't want to over-compromise my BAT reference. :P

Just posting here for anyone who's interested :)

Okay - I have some really bad studying habits, concentration and procrastination. But. I just wanted to show you guys something I've made especially for an episode I'll post sometime for ME:TMW. And I'm not sure whether I should upload these to the STEX or not. One of them is a one of the main ME:TMW symbols, besides the Normandy.

One is the Mako (which has appeared in multiple ME:TMW episodes). The other is a Prothean "Ruin" with a ominous floating orb artifact. I recently played a mission and found this in the game. A very strange occurrence so I decided that I would make an episode for it due to it's significance. They go hand in hand as with the picture I've used for reference. So if I release the Mako, it goes along with this BAT vice versa.

Of course, for the Mako, if I do happen to release it, it will be available in 2 orientations (diag/horiz) and the cannon in another version will be pointing 45 degrees.

So yeah. :)

Cool bats  &apls  I really like them and am trying to figure out a way they'd make sense in my cities  :D  Anyway, I noticed you put the first lot on a ground texture designed to blend in and thought you might prefer it on a transparent texture. This is the tutorial I use to do that: http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=23.0

Will release this on the LEX soon, once I've got a few more orientations exported, as well as some color variations :)

I know SC4D is a site more leaned to traditional/classical architecture, but I'll be uploading the BATs to see if I can open up to the website's Sci-Fi/Futuristic minded members!

Nice looking stuff...especially the Mako.  I would certainly use it if made available.  I'll use any ME bats you release, as it fits in with what I'm doing in game atm.  I'm running a more futuristic theme in my cities for now.

Keep up the good work.  &apls
