Looking great, Daniel.

One thing, the roof textures on the 3rd from the corner in 1st picture,
2nd and 4th house in the second pictures.
Try to strech the texture to 140% in the width.

vortext

Final two? Final as in final!?! As in: wrap this up for download final!?  :bnn:

As for the streetside props, Im currently at work (coffee break I swear) but I don't like them either, will send you some files tonight.  ;)

Thanks to both!! Well, I still have to work on the lots and do some props, but if you want simple blank lots, I can upload them as they are now.

Now, the rectified texture (I have to render all the casa Quaroni models with the stretched roof texture again). I hope it's the definitive version.

New and previous version:

vester

If its the 3rd roof from corner, I would say its an improvement to keep.

romualdillo

Yes, it is!! I should put a mark on the main building next time!  :P

romualdillo

Well, I think Casa Quaroni and friends are finished. I should start working on the props and lots.

Simcoug

Amazing work - that's quite a collection!  Can't wait to see the props

Seems, that I need to reinstall SC4 soon again...  $%Grinno$%

Beautiful houses!  &apls

I'd love to have even as blank lots...for now at least! Beautiful seƱor.

Thank you all!!

Well, those days I've been working on the fences for the empty lots. Perhaps it's a bit stupid taking son much time for them, but I like the result. First I tested some sizes and textures. Now the wooden planks are 53,3 cm wide. After all that changes the files got corrupted (immortal props) and I had to erase my testing city and build a new one. Now I'm experiencing some slope issues. (I'm using NHP Ennedi Slope Mod), and some roads raise up when they should go down. Anyway, I made new props for the fences and I could fix the first problem. The fences are built as independent wooden planks grouped into a family. (Yes, it was a lot of work to put every plank in every lot, and there are quite a lot of lots... but I think it's finished now  :bnn:). Next to do: some advertising posters for the fences or the backyards' walls... We'll see tomorrow...

Here you can see the fences. They don't stay too long, because the lots are filled quickly with new homes. I hope you like them!!!

Cool idea and implementation with the fences and great continued work on your BATs  &apls

Fences look great to me and nice you've put them in a prop family!

Now I'm experiencing some slope issues. (I'm using NHP Ennedi Slope Mod), and some roads raise up when they should go down.

Hm yeah, that's my bad. Maybe I should've mentioned beforehand some of the intersections, diagonal and FA in particular, use overhanging models. The advantage being it allows the intersections to have the same geometry as their ortho counterparts. The downside is the overhanging bits don't handle steep height differences too well and tend to stick out, as you've already noticed. Other than building on perfectly flat land there's no real solution to it. You may want to consider a more restrictive slope mod if it really is bothering you, or smooth out the area at hand.

noahclem: Thank you!!!

vortext: Thank you!!! Now I know that it wasn't your bad. The only reason for the issues I experienced was that I'm stupid. I didn't realize that the first time I built my testing city I used streets instead of roads. With Ennedi's mod, roads do sculpt the terrain but streets don't, so I was surprised when I dragged the roads with your texture and they sculpted the terrain to match the maximum slope allowed. That's why I thought the terrain was raising...  :innocent:

Now the backyard fences/walls. I think I have to desaturate the texture a bit, but this was only a test. I've done some nice variations for them.

I hope you like the result. Photobucket resizes the images automatically... (And I'm too lazy to open a new account somewhere else).

romualdillo

Texture change. I think it looks better now... I know it looks too repetitive, but it's only a test...  ;) Just try to imagine them different, and with some trees and plants  &Thk/(

I decided to do the fences as a single prop, because I wanted different fences to appear without doing different lots. (I love prop families)  :P

vortext

haha, I see. Slope mods can be quite tricky to use indeed. Usually I cement everything in place with road tiles and then drag the slope bit. And even then, sometimes it raises the entire plateau. .  :bomb: At any rate, glad to know it weren't my roads at fault!

Nice start with the walls!

Testing different brick textures and fence models...

It is always a pleasure to take a look at your thread because there are always nice new things to see.
I really like how the little houses turned out.
The Fences and walls are a really great addition to those little houses.Do i see some rear porches on some houses?I guess when in a very good shape, you really can enjoy living in such a small gem.You have lots of privacy, fresh air and light from almost every side and for someone who likes old buildings this must be a great way to live.
The textures on the new walls look pretty nice,i also noticed you always used slightly different textures for the wall elements between each pillar.

Too bad that some neighbors only have tiny short back yards instead of the long narrow backyards from the houses facing east and west :D

Those walls would be awesome to use as seawalls and also as walls for highways.. have you considered that?

noahclem

The fences look brilliant  &apls  I think these lots of a lot of potential

romualdillo

deora: Thank you!!! In an ideal world these houses are a great place to live, adapted to life and climate conditions in southern latitudes. Normally, they didn't have such enormous backyards as every square meter was used to build, but in some cases they had. Backyards (big or small) were used as private yards, orchards and even to keep animals like chickens or goats. We call them "traspatios" and in the house hierarchy they were part of the kitchens' service area, and where children could play. Perhaps it sounds strange, but that's how people organised their homes not so far in the past. The official "garden" was the first yard, the "patio", where the guests were led when the day was good: a representative area. I'll try to reproduce this way of living, which was different, but had its reasons.

cmdp123789: Thank you!!! No, I have not, but it's a good idea indeed.  ;)

noahclem: Thank you!!!

I've been making some versions from the previous walls. I think I need to do wood and stone walls, but they'll come in the next releases. I don't want to do more walls for now.  :P

Other think I've been working on: Telephone poles. I've think doing electric power poles, too, but I've realised it could look weird if I have an underground system for the street lights.

That's how it looks now, it still needs some polish...  ::)

I hope you like it!!! I'm going to use them in the low density lots, I still have to test them with the R$$ buildings.
