Fantastic work with river, rapids, meanders and MMP dirt paths &apls &apls

I like the use of FAR building.

Edit: I just see update 34. The overviews are amazing too. Requires a lot of time to create nice landscape and overviews and at the same time work in details as you do. Congrats! :)

Really great work  You've been very creative with the mmps along the riverbanks, and they look awesome, too!

Fantastic rural scenes!! I think they're among the most realistic ones I've seen!  &apls

That looks awesome! I like the crop circles and the campground. I'm really looking forward to seeing the dam.

Nice job with the camp site and as usual the flora!

Jaw-dropping.  The way you make the riverside gets better and better every update. The crop circle is a nice additon. Just waiting to see a TV team somewhere around  ;D The camping side looks cool. Well-detailed. Especially this small dirt parking lot with cars standing in a row. You think about everything
Thank you for visiting Kolbrów, and for being for last ten years!

Themistokles: Thanks!

romualdillo: Cheers!

compdude787: I've done a crop circle before about two years ago, this time though I found an MMP which had a cropped version of the crop, so that would make the crop circle look more realistic.

M4346: After Faverdale there is the city of Garforth, my latest urban area which I have finished.

Swordmaster: Thank you!

kbieniu7: You know that is a good point- a TV team, where are the MMPs for a TV team? Thanks for the comment.

Entry 41: Bassenthwaite Reservoir

At last we come to the dam, the Bassenthwaite Reservoir holds back Thirlmere lake while ensuring enough water flows downstream along the River Faver.

{---}

1.

North of Bassenthwaite Reservoir is Thirlmere Lake.

2.

3.

4.

5.

6.

7.

Let's take a look at the substation downstream of Bassenthwaite Reservoir.

8.

9.

10.

Another MMP car park.

11.

A pedestrian land bridge for hikers who walk along both sides of the River Faver.

12.

13.

The River Faver is very wide immediately downstream from the dam.

14.

A small crag of rock pushes up above the river.

15.

16.

The east slopes along the Bassenthwaite Reservoir.

17.

Another small island in the middle of the River Faver.

18.

This and the next five pictures focus on the eastern slopes running past the Bassenthwaite Reservoir.

19.

20.

21.

22.

23.

Scree slopes.

24.

The A66 winds it way around to the West before swinging back to travel directly across the top of Bassenthwaite Reservoir.

25.

Directly in front (south of) the dam are some additional facilities. The small building to the right is the main means of access to the power turbine room which is underground.

26.

A dredging unit in the middle of the picture, a few times over the year pumps are lowered into the River Faver to suck up material from the river bed.

27.

A culvert to the right to allow the River Faver to flow. Below these utilities are underground power cables which connect up to the substation a few hundred meters away to the right.

28.

The remainder of the pictures will be following the A66 as it snakes it way upwards to eventually cross the Bassenthwaite Reservoir.

29.

33.

34.

I kind of forget about some smooth diagonal curves, but then that would have messed up the diagonal fencing!

And finally a mosaic of the area and the A66 climbing section.

This Friday I will post the final entry for the River Faver- Thirlmere Lake.

Love it all, but I took about 14 hours getting through it (during modding breaks ;D). You put in such wonderful details in your scenes that I think you should spread it out over a few updates, and save some work for when you don't have anything to show. I hope you don't mind me voicing my opinion on that :)

It's all beautiful, though.

Great shots... as always! ;)

Unfortunately I don't know any TV team props or plops :(

Really good work around the dam. Good sloping, the crown made of seawalls, using rocks to hide the sew with the terrain, embakements and all this small facility covering the culverts and turbines. Itself is really well-made, condidering in-game technique. However, as somebody, whose field of university studies was hydrotechnics, I really wish, it's easier to make the important devices more easily in SimCity :D I mean, the spillway (I really need to finish my model...), which is an urgently necessary device - during the flood times, it takes the majority of all water going trough - the culvers and covered pipelines just don't have enough capacity. The rate of flows taken into designing process are estimated basing on historical measurements and statistics. During designing rate of flow (which might be a value, that occurs once a 100, 500 or even more years, depending on the structure) it have to carry 80% of all water.

But, really, treat my words just like "did-you-know". SimCity is just a game... sometimes limited. The art, is to make it the best within possible means, what you actually do great ;)

Ah, but you know, we talked about it. Maybe some more smoooooth curves...? :D

Thank you for visiting Kolbrów, and for being for last ten years!

Nice dam project... (generating lots of green energy! ()stsfd()) I especially like the way you've used MGB's bridges. But wherefrom are those power poles?

Oh wow! Feels like I just watched a documentary  &apls &apls

One thing, if I may, that dam needs an outflow pipe/s to simulate water discharge and I believe the PEG dam had that mod as a separate lot.
Also look in the water stream lots by BSC, there are a couple in there you could probably adapt/mod to use on that beautiful dam you made.

Awesome details all around

Swordmaster: I prefer larger updates and I don't like teasing things out, it would make these CJ entries more repetitive. I would rather go with fewer, but more distinctive, entries than more of them. Besides showing a complete city tile takes about 4 to 6 weeks, in that time, when I am on a roll, I complete another city tile. Other times I take a break of a few weeks or even months.

compdude787: Thanks!

kbieniu7: I was more concerned with making the spillway visually work, actual BATs or LOTs would be a big help though! As for those smooth curves, well I kind of forgot about them because I really liked the look of the guard rails on the RHW-2.

Themistokles: Thank you! Now those power poles were created by threestooges- http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2344.

Simmer2: I will definitely consider those items if I ever build a second dam, thanks a lot for the comment.

Gugu3: Thank you!

M4346: Cheers! I have some more good stuff coming up with the city of Garforth, I had some real fun experimenting with urban design.

Entry 42: Thirlmere Lake

The tour going upstream along the River Faver ends with this entry- a look at Thirlmere Lake.

{---}

1.

Thirlmere Lake.

2.

The lake is artificial due to the River Faver backing up behind the dam, it stretches northwards, and westwards, for many miles.

3.

Let's start on the western shore of Thirlmere Lake.

4.

The retaining wall and rocks were inspired by the (upstream) side of Cow Green Reservoir.

5.

6.

The footpath/track runs parallel to the western shores of Thirlmere Lake.

7.

8.

A small holiday cabin.

9.

10.

11.

12.

13.

And now for the eastern side of Thirlmere Lake.

14.

Here lies my favourite stretch of the A66.

15.

It's something about the trees on the right hand side.

16.

17.

A camping park.

18.

19.

The village of Grasmere.

20.

21.

22.

A small lakeside promenade.

23.

24.

25.

26.

27.

The A66 travels on northwards.

28.

29.

Travelling down the River Faver and the Slomler Valley.

And so concludes the tour of the River Faver.

Excellent!  &apls &apls &apls
Do not tell me where to take the wooden fences as you?

compdude787

Wow, amazing!!! I love the mosaic at the end; it really ties everything together!
