Telschak

Hi everyone, I been getting more and more involved with sim city over the last few weeks, sure Ive had alot of encounters with the game before but not like now, i really love ::) this game now so to the point...

Im from sweden and would very much like to build on a map based on some swedish terrain/area, I have a specific area I really want to work with but any would work.

If anyone out there feel they are up to the task or allready got a map of some area (note area, not intressted in the maps of scandinavia thats allready around) of sweden, It would be greatly appriciated. Im also intressted in learning more about making maps myself its a part of the game thats very new to me.

So to the questions/information I have:

1. What raw data is needed/can be used to make map creation easier, what fileformat etc for digital maps and elevation data and so on is compatibalae with whatever tools all you mapmakers use?

2. I got several maps in scale 1:50 000 in digital format with a 5 or 10m hight accuracy, they are in the .rik format used (only?) by the swedish "Lantmäteriet" (http://www.lantmateriet.se/) a organisation that makes most of the rawmatieral for maps in sweden.

I also have and can get digital maps over small areas (5-20 km2) in 1:10 000 and 1: 15 000 the are saved in a format used by the program Ocad (http://www.ocad.com/en/index.htm). Ocad was origanly developed for makeing maps suitable for Orientering competions (http://www.orienteering.org) but today ocad is used by goverments, cities and companies to make a wide variety of maps.

3. Hmm well thats basicly it atm, I am in the process of reading up on sc4terraformer and other stuff realted to sc4 map making, but I will be very happy if people can give me some advice, links etc that you think might be usefull to me.

Best regards
