gizmos new night and day mod

im not sure if this is the place to post this sorry,but its information for the whole of the simcity community gizmo is in the process of finishing a night and day mod and i watched the flash today its awesome very realistic here is the link to his site you have to register i think to watch it not sure really but heres the link.

    Thanks for posting the link.   It sounds very kool indeed.    For some reason I can't view the flash.   Oh well.   I'm glad you posted the link any way.    It had been sooooooo long since I had dropped by Gizmo's my profile had disappreared and I had to reregister.     Gizmo has made some nice changes.   I love the new look over there.   Thanks again.

Attention everyone!  "$Deal"$

Gizmo's new night/ day mod is out at his site here: http://gizmo.lunarpages.com/index.php?action=downloads&d=Effect+Mods You have to register there first.  ;)

This mod adjusts the day/night schedule, so the sun doesn't rise at 3AM anymore.  $%Grinno$%
It also makes nights darker.  $%#Ninj2

However, at 5pm it starts to turn dark wich is fine by me but the first lights turn on at 8pm wich is to late in my opinion.
At 1am the first lights turn off and at 4am the whole city is dark.
For residential that's fine I guess but it seems a little unrealistic to have no lights at all from 4am till 8am. [when it's almost light again]
It prolly has nothing to do with Gizmo's amazing mod but is there a way to alter the time light's go on and off?
It would make this absolutly amazing when lights start at 6pm and start to turn off at 6am.
It takes 3 game hours to completly light the city and also 3 game hours to turn all off. [game hours as in the little clock down left]  ;)

That should be possible by tweaking two properties in the Main Simulator exemplar (TGI 0x6534284A, 0xE7E2C2DB, 0xE9590E52):
      k24HourClockNightBeginProperty
      k24HourClockNightEndProperty

They are set to 20 and 01 in Rush Hour.
Enclosed to this post is a modified version of the Main Simulator, with these proeprties changed to 18 and 06.

Place the file RJ_LongerNights_Alpha1.dat in your plugins and see if it works.
Tell me if you want any of the values put earlier or later...

I'm still at work and haven't got the game installed here... $%Grinno$%
However, I do have the file simcity_1.dat and Reader... ::)

Evenings are simply perfect now, lights turn on when the sun sets.
Mornings, lights turn off one hour to early to my taste.
Excellent job though, thanks.   :thumbsup:

Gizmo: Great work.

I would love a version with the light only turned half way down. Somewhere in between the game settings and the new mod.
The new mod is a bit too dark for me.

Vester: I belive only Gizmo is capable of doing that.  ;)

The darkness suits me fine. It's very realistic, in my opinion.

Indeed, and I am more than sure that Gizmo will not even consider changing this mod.
Editing the Effect Dirs isn't something you'd do just to fulfill individual requests...

A big  &apls for  the R.J_LongerNights_Alpha2. Enjoying the night lights  with gizmo's new tool was just a brief teeze. Now one can get a whole nights worth of night viewing. I haven't seen a spike in crime activity with the added darkness so I guess the sim police are keeping  up the night patrols. Thanks for this added treat. :thumbsup:
