@Haljackey: I've improved it...

I'm a mod on SimcityBrasil =)

Your improved interchange looks nice, vitorhnn. I see you've even changed to the Euro textures. Very cool. If you don't mind, though, I'd like to make two suggestions. One, your already great interchange would look even better if you use smooth wide radius curves for your MIS ramps. And two, to use a B-type ramp instead of a Wide A-Type ramp for your westbound to southbound ramp.
Overall, you have a great interchange there!

Rionescu: That's insanely creative! I like the smooth curves and lane shifts. The only thing I don't like is the eastbound to northbound connection, but I don't see too many other ways it could fit in and look good. A little too many curves and grade changes on it. Overall, very nice job!

I'm glad you like it, and I agree, that part sucks, but until we get 45-degree FlexFlys and diagonal transitions or double height MIS, whichever comes first, there isn't much I can do. I could tear it down and leave it as a semi-y, and if I'm feeling generous I'll give them a U-turn ramp.

canyonjumper

Wow! Rion, that interchange is crazily awesome! vitorhn, I agree with Nego, that would look even awesomer with smooth curves,

Just Something small , i'm restarting SC4 again...

j-dub

Nexis, with all do respect:
For something small, it seems that your huge resolution png picture took a large amount of time to load, maybe use jpeg's next time. Also, why is there no arrow at the top side of the road?

MattyFo

Here is a simple T-interchange.  I use this design everywhere in my region.  Typically as an exit for small towns off the Major Highway that runs through my
region.  In this case, the highway on the left is a Bypass that goes around the city of Wolf Lake.  The main highway runs right through the city, where it turns into an avenue and is plagued with stop lights an traffic.  People passing through that do not wish to stop in the city have the luxury of the Bypass.  The area around the interchange is not finished yet.  There will likley be more industry on the right side, the top left will be more residential and the bottom left will be filled with trees and end up as a park.

I like your design, MattyFo. So much in fact, that I've decided to help you along by making my own version of your interchange for you to use.

MattyFo

AH yes, your version is definitely a space saver.  Mine however, was built prior to the release of the most rescent RHW, so I didn't have use of the curving ramps.  However, I use these often and I have plenty more to develop so your take on it will really come in handy.  THANKS!

!!!!GO HABS GO!!!!

darraghf

In RL, that would be pretty dangerous Nego, because of all the weaving involved with exiting and entering the southbound carriageway, and the short length of roadway where the northbound exit merges into the RHW-2

I know that. Thas interchange was just a quick example. The (almost) final design of the interchange looks like this:

Haljackey

Here's a simple T-bone I made not long ago. It's pretty similar to what you guys are trying to do, but it is a little more compact and has no weaving.

Rionescu

Yeah I have a few of those built. Here's one I built to experiment with RHW 4.1. It would've been really cool if it worked:

And another one that I made fit onto an 8 tile wide. Not exactly the same, but pretty close.

Nego

The first interchange looks AWESOME!!! &apls and if you move the ramps away from the EMIS by one tile, it should work. I also like the double FlexFly over RHW-4. It looks like an interchange by where I live.

Rionescu

Thanks.

I made another interchange today just for fun. I realized I had yet to build a 4-way interchange, so I built one. I set out to build a cloverstack since I had a pretty good idea of how I was gonna go about it. I just had to take a parclo and build 2 more ramps. The first one is incredibly similar to my parclo, but I wasn't happy with it.

I didn't like that it still had weaving along the east/west highway, but I couldn't figure out how to fix it. I knew the MTO's solution to weaving is braided ramps, but I couldn't figure out the best way to extend the ramps past each other. I took a break from the game for a little while, and when I came back, I had a eureka moment. Well not quite, but it felt like it :P. After a bit more work, I ended up with this:

It has a whole lot more overpasses, but now my sims will have a nicer commute to and from work.

Rionescu: I have a suggestion for you.

It looks like you left an extra tile on each side of the overpass for a wider RHW to pass under. Why not use that space to accommodate the on-ramps from the loops so merge space can occur on the other side of the underpass?

That would enable the loop ramp to have a much smaller footprint, allowing the outer ramps to somewhat tighter and thus more compact. My rough design is displayed below.

Remember, up to 3 tiles can pass under the FLEXfly, so you can put the merge space for the inner flyovers beyond them rather than before.

Rionescu

Thanks for the tip Hal. This was more for show than anything, but if I ever have to actually use one of these in a developed city, I'll definitely keep in mind your compact design. I was actually surprised by how compact even mine was, so yours would be really easy to fit in.

Besides not having a slope mod what do you all think??

Haljackey

Looking good packerfan386! I really like your second image, where the two RHW-4s join together to form that RHW-8S. Adding some smooth curves for realism would really help, as well as installing a slope mod. :P

I would also suggest adding some signs and other eyecandy besides grass and lights.

Here's a NAM diagonal trumpet interchange I recently plopped. I find it works well here because building a standard interchange would make it too close to the stack above, causing weaving issues and whatnot. This allows the junction to be placed several tiles back, maximizing it's efficiency.

Zoom in:

I really wished there was some way to add asphalt highway textures to this junction and the partial-y.  &Thk/(

chasespncr

Heres one that i made. It was a pretty tight fit.
