I really like the layout of your city.  Guess what... you were right!  I finally have Paradise Valley rebuilding... and its looking real good.

Thank you for the advice, and keep up with this here city!!

First off let me say your attention to detail makes this a very enjoyable MD to follow.

One question about your streets and roads...It looks like you are using the JRJ street side mod.  The one thing I don't like about this modd is the change in sidewalk textures for different wealth zones.  In your mosaics it seems that all your sidewalks are the same and do not change to different textures (which makes it look much more realistis). Did you alter the modd to achieve this or are the areas in your mosaics all the same wealth?  I love that look and would like to have the same for my Euro style streets.

Nice job with your city and I look forward to your updates!

Glenni - Its headed to gun down some drug smugglers, no arrests, just some 2/75 inch rockets :P

Bat - Thank you, too bad it wasn't just two mosaics (second two combined into one), you can blame imageshack for that though :P

Robin (Rooker1) - I'm glad I could help you in your quest to learn how to make mosaics, the tutorial was very helpful to me as well :) Thanks for stopping by once again :)

Mijg_Dudy - I'll respond to your cliché with one of my own - glad you liked it, :P. When I built those areas I envisioned those blocks to be ones destroyed by the Germans / Soviets in WWII replaced with new apartments for the homeless, much like what happened in other USSR cities.

Bengt - I would love to use a different wall to wall set, but thats really the only one that fits well :S, the SFBT ones are too nice, and I'm not going to go near the Paris stuff. For my downtown area (based off of Moscow) I am using Prepo stuff though :)

Sebes - Thank you, glad you liked it.

Seb (Xiziz) - Playing on the powerplant map  or the Russian Sub base map eh? :P

Marius (M4346) - The PM was just intended so that you saw "your" update, didn't really care if you commented, though I won't lie it was nice :).  And you get a fact checker badge of the PSSO, it is indeed Odeshchyna, :P I like my way more though. It takes certain people to love the crappy areas of cities, I find them interesting in real life even :P Glad you think they look true to reality, as that was what I was going for :P Prepo's lots are already around Red Square as you've seen, now I'm just waiting for the growables.

TheGunKid - Not sure if those are Paris lots and yes that means Red Line, Russian translator did it for me :P

Daniel (Iamgoingtoeatyou) - Thank you very much my friend  ;D.

Nedalezz - Very glad to see you here as I'm a big fan of your MD :)  I figured the people of PSSO would like to live close to their work place anyway :P

Daniel (Shadow Assassin) - I would use Photobucket (and have an account with over 600 pics there) if it supported mosaics like imageshack. Thanks for the knife though. About the rowhomes, I'd love to throw in some different sets, but none really work well. Ive tried the SFBT ones and like I said to Bengt, they're too nice. Thanks for the suggestion though  ;D And this knife better work.

Strechnitz - Don't worry, SA will be dealt with promptly ;). I'm not sure how I ever lived without mosaics, I think they add alot and are fun to make. And its funny that you asked about where the Politburo resides, as I just built 3 dachas, one of which will have a small story later, and I know you love stories :P

Marius (II) - Here is some medal to add to your fact checker badge for defending the Politburo!

Strechnitz - Now I'll have to help the socialist insurgency in Stropon :P Lavish, what rubbish :P

Marius (III) - Heres another medal :P

Kwakelaar - Thank you, as I said to Mijg_Dudy I'm trying to recreate Soviet styling housing built after the destruction of the second world war.

Luke (Amerikaner) - Why are you pissed, every self respecting socialist nation needs a big parade square :P Those grey buildings intentionally show up alot :P And I'll show you, and just you a region view on MSN, its far from done :P

Kevin (Simplmn9) - Sorry for leaving this blank, I have no clue why I did. I'm glad you've gotten back on your feet sc4 wise and its great that things are looking good :)

Kestner34 - Im glad I was able to help you with that PM and look forward to a future visit, as well as your MD :)

Today is the beginning of a series of Port Updates, based off of the port facilities of Odessa. Finally I finished the first part. Unfortuatley don't expect the rest of it for awhile as I have to do about 200 + relots, should be fun ;D

The restricted access fishing harbour area. Only residents and fishers can gain access to this area as Odessa's fish market depends upon it. Every morning the fleets leave at about 4:00 AM and come back around 7:00 PM to offload their catch to the processing facilites of the area. Apparently today was a holiday as all the boats were in during the day. Or maybe it was a strike, bah, don't be silly :P

Here we can see a bulker being loaded up for a trip to god knows where, possibly the bottom of the Strait of Kerch if those storms keep up  &mmm. At the bottom of the picture is a nice tenement where the fishers live, overlooking their boats (well not their boats exactly :P The people's boats) in the harbor. Glad to have the day off I guess (I would too if you had to go into a storm that broke a tanker in two in one of those little dinky things :P).

Ok all done ;D

squidi

your city looks fantastic i love all the industriaL lots
can you tell me what kind of seawals are that i mean the one without the railing

iamgoingtoeatyou

another excellent update as always! i love the fact that you don't resize your pictures, making them big and revealing tons of details. i enjoy passing the time, looking at your mosaics, i noticed a bunch of details on bats, streets, and city building that i would have never noticed otherwise. great work  &apls

SIMplMn9

Beautiful waterfront, great work!  &apls

Mulefisk

Awesome work, yoman!

The photoshopping is nice and subtle, everything is well laid out, all in all, it looks fantastic.

Looking forward to seeing more!

bat

Wonderful looking mosaics of the harbor area!

nedalezz

Those have to be two of the finest mosiacs I have ever seen! Seriously, very very impressive. I still havent gotten the hang of making mosiac...maybe you can make a small tutorial.

Anyway, a fantastic update, and that harbor is unbelievable...very realistic. Great stuff.

Xiziz

Looks excellent Owen! the rest will be in for a treat with the up and coming of your harbour :P

Keep it up mate!

Emperor Stormont

The harbour is stunning, truly unique. I have yet to use those seawalls but this has spurred me on.

Wonderful mosaic, fantastic work Owen.  :satisfied:

HAHA I am excited to see that region view, yeah I have seen them in a region view before (one of my shitty CJ's I downloaded them) they looked nice from region but were a little annoying to myself  ;D, anyway I am officially in LOVE with PSSO that harbor is looking quite amazing and the way you put it together looks very realistic. 200 relots WOW that sounds like fun considering that the most I have done is like um 5  &sly...haha.

Shadow Assassin

I really like your port. It suits its purpose: a large fishing port. I wouldn't mind an overview when it's done. :P

Another wonderful Update. The attention to detail is execellent, if only I could build cities like this.  :'(

Strechnitz

Alright. I'll take lavish back. LOL
How do the comrades of the politburo live in their austere and modest way? :D

Oh and for a socialist insurgency in Stropon you have come at the right time too. It is becoming a little volatile there. ;D

But back to Odeschyna. Great harbour. I haven't seen anything like it in terms of combinging these elements.
And it is good to see that your people don't use those enormous trawlers destroying seabeds and sealife.

Squidi - I call them waffle walls, but they're really a set of Japanese walls that Xiziz and I have completely remodded and reloted. I would provide the download link, but when I got them someone provided it to me so I can't sorry :(

Daniel (iamgoingtoeatyou) - Thanks, yeah, I like close in shots alot more than zoomed out ones. You can see alot more of the city.

Kevin (SIMplMn9) - Haha, sorry about that, as I told you its been fixed. Thanks you for the kind words.

Mulefisk - I just recently learned (like about a week before I started this MD) how much the brightness and contrast option can improve your pictures. Thank you.

Bat - Thank you ;D

nedalezz - Thank you for the very kind words, and about the tutorial, I don't have to make one, as I learned off one that I'll give you the link for ;D Here you go.

Seb (Xiziz) - If we ever finish those BATs :P Though we are making good progress.

Emperor Stormont - Thanks

Luke (Amerikaner) - Yeah, about 200 lots plus 7 BATs at the moment ;D

Daniel (Shadow Assassin) - Key word...when its done, though I can show you an undone one on MSN.

Mjig_dudy - Ah but you can, your cities are stunning, equally as stunning as those BATs you make ;D

Strechnitz - They live in dachas when they need to clear their minds, and some modest apartments while in the capital. Oh and we use the gigantic trawlers, they're just moored in another area of the harbor, come now since when do socialists have reguard for seabeds and life :P

Pat - Thank you Pat, I look forward to seeing you again.

Due to the fact that I'm still working on several BATs for the port area, some of which can be viewed here [Linky], I really haven't had much time to play Sim City. I finally got some today as I didn't feel like BATing and Xiziz was texturing the models. So I built something close to the port area. Очистительный завод Свободы, or Freedom Refinery.

Очистительный завод Свободы is the largest refinery in Odeschyna and before 1988, the year of PSSO's independence, the largest refinery in the south western Soviet Union. The refinery is vital to the PSSO's economy, as it supplies much hard currency from refining oils shipped in from Novorossiysk, Russia. After being refined it is shipped through pipeline to Ukraine and the Balkans, or shipped via tanker to Turkey, Krim, and Italy. The refinery currently produces an astounding 550,000 barrels per day, which more than satisfies Odeschyna's own needs. The refinery is located in the northern section of Odessa next to the main oil terminal.

Sorry about the small size of the update, but I promise the rest of the port updates will be big with custom BATs and lots ;D

bat

Great work on the refinery, Yoman! Looking forward to more...

Again some excellent work being done here. The oil refinery looks very good, and I can't wait until you get the new harbour pieces going.
