When was the actual commencement date of the LEX? It's amazing (though not surprising) to see 1,000,000 downloads, but even more surprising in that I think it was done in less than a year. Congratulations on the milestone, and here's to many millions more.

Heblem

1 million downloads in less than a year, amazing!

The LEX was going through a testing period in January 2007, and can be considered opened to the public around January 15th.
The graph below shows the downloads since that day, when 103 files had already been downloaded by beta testers.

Its amazing how fast that counter goes up, theres been like over 2000 more downloads since that news hit

There are some 5,000-6,000 downloads daily.

Some other figures:

In average, each file has been downloaded 830 times
In average, each member has downloaded 66 files

If every member would have downloaded every file once, we would have had over 18 million downloads by now... ::)

There is one primary explanation, the downloads available at SC4D are quality. All are tested and proven before general release.

I can only imagine the time that is put into firstly developing and secondly testing the various lots etc.

A big thankyou and congrats to all involved  &apls &apls

Just as well people are fairly selective!

That graph shows a quite phenomenal rate of growth for downloads related to a 'dead' game.  :D

Great games never die....I still play Elite http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elite_(computer_game)
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it

Exactly! Just about every day I see more great things coming out of some very talented people (continuation of the BigDig, transparent ploppable water , RHW etc.) I never have had so much great custom content choices!

Thank you to all of the contributers to this great game!

And thank you to everyone behind the scenes of Devotion!

Wow! That graph certainly says it all, doesn't it? And all of that in less than a year, too! Amazing!

well thats a bit flashy.. but if you really wanted to make it flashy you would've made it move :P
so somewhere in this topic someone said this place had been around for less than a year. lets see lets say that it will take half as long because we have more members know (and most like me tend to mess up) so my estimate for 10,000,000 downloads is 2012 :p
then im sure ill be around to spoil the celebration and say "this doesnt have the ring that saying 1,000,000 downloads" :p

i think someone should find out the size of all of the stuff on lex then average it out and find out the average internet speed then finally see how much total time we spent downloading things from there :P my guess hmm 50 days at least :P

My estimate is that we will reach 4,000,000 downloads already by the end of 2008.

The LEX hasn't been up even for one year yet, and... ::)

I just noticed on the LEX that it's passed the 2,000,000 mark! I would have done Print Screen but it's not working for me right now.

Anyways, congrats SC4D! &apls &apls

Wasn't it just in November or December that we got to 1 million?
