Well as you know, I come up with ideas and great topics. For example the DBS (Diagonal Bat Series)

My other idea is Dubai City Series, These bats are from Dubai City. As you know Dubai is the largest and fastest growing city in the world. Only 29 years old and already containing the worlds largest building yet. There are 1000's of Dubai proposals. I will set-up a thread if people read this. But i need BAT makers here. I am a Batter myself, I'll see how much people read this then maybe i will start.

I agree with cantescape, Dubai is one of the most interresting fast growing cities in the world because city developers actually "play" with it the way we play with SC4: First, they Terraform (the Palm's islands, the World archipelagoes, Dubai'waterfront, etc), then they choose the biggest landmarks they can afford, then they build them and then, they will watch if the population is growing. The difference is that they do that in the RL!!!!! Some of the nicest building have already been build (check the nippon's BAT thread), It still miss a good representation of the 2 biggests : Al Burj and Burj Dubai.

Sadly , I must also agree with Yoman. Could you please, modify the wording in order to make it more attractive ? Thanks.

@cantescape   Every idea is a good idea.  Dubai is a very cool city and it has some of the nicest buildings in the world of course it is a good idea to make models of many of the buildings within that city both proposed and built.  Now, I think you should take a step back though, over 2 years ago there was a BAT project for the Burj Dubai started, I dont think it was ever finished though.  You are not the first one to suggest these buildings, I see them all being asked for from time to time.  And, well... Diagonal BATs were wanted the first day the game came out, your ideas although good are not yours and only yours as the rest of the community already feels the same way.

@Simfox   I think you shouldnt have responded.  Your post is very confrontational, although some points are right your wording is very bad.  Please take the time to word your post a little bit nicer or dont post, we dont wantyou to start a fight here, its not worth it.

This is SC4D.  It's not an ongoing "I can top that" contest.  It's not a showcase for cheap shots, even if they are taken in support of a valid point.

My quote on 1000's of proposals is true. The economy from oil is tremendously boosting. Since SC4D is being so hard. I won't release my numerous skyscrapers on LEX.

In the real world, money talks. In this world, images talk. So when I - and the rest of the community - say "show me the money!" We mean, show us that you're more than just a big mouth. Right now, I'm rather skeptical and the chances of you proving me and everyone else wrong is rather slim.

Folks, let's let cooler heads prevail here.  A scrum isn't what cantescape was thinking.  He was just trying to gauge interest in a Dubai set.

I agree that Dubai is somewhat underrepresented in SC4.  The city is at the forefront of architengineering (< lookit what I made!  ), and deserves a better representation.

Cantescape, I'm sure your group's BATs are of excellent quality.  I'm definitely interested in a Dubai set.  I'm not much of a BATer, unfortunately - so I don't know what help I am other than a vote of confidence.

I do not think Dubai is severely under-represented as claimed above. Some of the very best BATters in the business have recreated or are in the process of recreating the many Dubai buildings.

Andisart, Skyscraper and ks_jpn come to mind. If anything is severely under-represented in this game it is anything but skyscrapers.

Dubai is way overrated. Maybe this discussion belongs in an architecture/urban planning topic, but it's obvious that Dubai is just a 21st century oil boom town akin to the diamond/gold/silver/etc boom towns of the 19th century American west. The city is completely unsustainable, since there will be no way to keep glass-coated skyscrapers in the middle of a desert cool and livable once all the oil is gone. It's an architectural wasteland where even the most mediocre of architects can get their latest mega mall built. Don't get me wrong- I'm sure the people of the UAE and its culture is rich and great, but Dubai is just another example of westernization in the form of cultural/consumerist colonialism. Local culture and centuries-old frugality and lifestyles are dying out. To sum up, it's just another dead, tourist-trap city.

Most people going bananas about Dubai had never been there; well, often never been anywhere outside of their suburb even...
It is definitely NOT a city. SimCity - may be, with as much a depth and realism to it. (And at that totally "plopped" one with some simelion hack)

It does cater for certain clientèle though. How well it is a mystery as it is next to impossible to get ANY reliable statistics from that Family business. It could be next economic miracle or next Enron on epical scale...
But architecturally it is a mediocre place (I've said architecturally not engineering wise - those aren't one and the same). It's meteoric rise became possible in part due to 9/11 when a LOT of Arab and some other money had pulled out of the states and rest of Western world in fear of some sort of retaliatory action and had basically nowhere to go. Dubai rulers cleverly supplied that place to be and convenient pyramid to get appearance of return.

EDIT: I know it might appear harsh to be so critical of a city, but then again, Dubai isn't a city! It is an agglomeration of hotels, tourist traps, and swanky islands- the pet project of a bored emir.

yeah, if anything it reminds me of metropolis - the movie...

But about this tread...
It's really beyond me what it is all about.
The approach - "I'm great I have tons of GREAT work completed but I won't show it to you! " is really sad.
And all the "peacemakers" here - please understand that if person really has got ANYTHING to show he would have done it right from start.
But instead he just goes on and on making new bombastic claims with absolutely no substance. I think we shouldn't be abusive, but we have to be firm. And I see NOTHING wrong with calling someones bluff, after all no one had force him/her come here and make those calls but ones made he/she HAS to stand by them if he/she wants to get any respect. Respect is a two way street.

There are 661 highrise buildings approved or under construction in Dubai and 284 are completed.
Further I'm really looking forward to see some of your buildings. Your project sounds really cool, can you please post some renders?

OK, maybe Dubai is overrated.  But that doesn't mean it doesn't have good buildings to BAT.
