I'm not sure if one exists or not, can anyone tell me if there is a mod to remove the steam engine from the game? I don't like how it clashes with the nice new diesel locomotives.

If one does not exist, I guess I would like to formaly request one.
Thank you, Clay

Clay,

First, welcome to SC4D. I hope you enjoy your time here.

There is a thread at Simtropolis that has a .zip attached with a file that replaces the steam locomotive with a BNSF C44-9W. I'll see if I can locate the original zip file so you'll have more to search for. It is the only mod that replaces the steam locomotive that I have ever found. There may be a German or Japanese mod, hopefully someone with more knowledge of those SC4 communities will be able to chime in.

EDIT: I found the file, it was made by i-photon and its name is BNSF_GE_Dash944CW1.zip. Unfortunately I have been enable to find it on ST and Google is no help. Contact me via MSN or email and I'll see what we can do.

Also, if anyone who knows about modding would like to look at this to see how i-photon did it just drop me a message.

Cheers,
Kevin

No, that's not it, unfortunately. It seems that I found the wrong zip.

Someone posted to i-photon's thread asking him to do a version that replaces the steam locomotive. He happily completed the task and attached the results to his reply. Unfortunately, my plugins are a mess and I am unable to find it. Add that the master of automata, Swamper77, is undergoing some major RLS, it seems that this mythical .zip is the only hope, unless a savior steps in and solves the problem with a few quick keystrokes.

I'll keep searching...

Cheers,
Kevin

I just stumbled across this...
Maybe this thread started by Rayden might be the one: How do I get rid of this sucker? ::)

In the last post I made a ZIP file called TRAINS_Replace_SteamEngine_Textures_with_BNSF_GE_Dash944CW.zip.
That file replaces the steam engine textures with those of the BNSF_GE_Dash944CW, made by i-Photon.

Looks like I missed that last post of yours, sorry, that probably seemed rude from me, but I really forgot about that thread. Thanks T, you're the MAN.

I didn't realize that original request was made by you, Rayden, until yesterday when I dug it out from the dungeon at ST. $%Grinno$%
Maybe you finally find some use for it now! ::) :D

I will indeed, getting rid of that sucker it's one of them $%Grinno$% You try to get the most realism of the game, and suddenly it appears a cartoonish train engine from early 20th century &mmm

Hey, thanx guys! I'm a little slow in responding to posts because I'm so busy all the time with work and school. So thanx again. I can't tell you how many times that dumb "cartoon" train ruined a good "dream city".

BTW, I'm also impressed at how they actually try to help people arround here! Not like some other sites. Thanks 4 the link. &apls
