I have read and tried and copied reams of material and I still don't understand how to do it.  I know, (thanks to answers to my questions here), that you can only put 1 building on a lot.  So I tried making lots 1x2, on a PZ lot, so it will be ploppable and show up in the menu, of the same house and different back yards and front yards.  But when I put them in the game, no matter how close I put the building to the edge of the lots, they won't touch.  How do the great lot builders make a big lot with rowhouses on them?  Or, for that matter, big lots with many buildings?

TheTeaCat

As far as I know( correct me if I'm wrong someone) You need to make the building a prop. Use the PIM to do this.
Then make your lot in the LE using the building you want (preferably a W2W model) and place the second (the prop one)beside it.

Thats how to do it I think  :)
If not someone will soon be along to sort you out.
In the meantime have a nice soothing cuppa on me while you wait ;D

The TeaCat has already answered your question, but maybe you could show some pictures of what you are making and which models you are using.
Also sometimes a lot looks worse in the LotEditor than it will look in the game.

Thank you for your help, and for helping me learn.  I had no idea what PIM meant, so now I have downloaded gmax and bat and have to install them and learn how to use them, because apparently pim is in bat but you can't have bat without gmax which wasn't on the ea website.  But I had remembered something in a post on Peg's site about gmax, so I went back and read the forums and found a link.  Except there was a patch on the ea website for pim that corrected something in the pim, so I downloaded that, and it asked me if it should replace pim.exe so I said yes.  So now it's all in my download file and I have to open and install it all.  Before I do all this, do I have to have bat at all, because I'll never use it?  All I want to do is make lots for myself.  (And you know what's really sad?  I came across a post from myself before I became ill about the same sort of thing and I don't remember any of it.  In my old notebook there are notes about it, so as I learn again maybe they'll begin to make sense!) :)

As for posting what I make you must be mad.  I play in the sandbox style, not at all like genius designers Peg, Sepsis, The Goddess, etc.  I like to make worlds and towns and small cities, and make lots out of other people's beautiful props.  Once in a while I'll connect power to see how it would look at night, but usually the houses are too far apart without running ugly wires, and if I make the worlds run, lightening bolts and cars and briefcases pop up all over the place.  So I just make Irish villages, European towns I see in books, and fantasy lands.  I don't really care to make things work like the real world.  But I have great fun designing and people are very nice and humor me and make allowances for my ignorance, for which I'm very grateful.

Glad to be of help.  Nope you don't have to use the BAT at all. The PIM and LE are all you need. Glad to hear you've recovered from your illness and feel free to ask questions. thats how you learn as someone will always have the answer or direct you in the right way towards one  :D

Thanks too kwakelaar  for confirmation

Now, if you are interested in other game adjustment parameters, I commend your attention to this thread [linkie], where Game Code God Buggi has made available to us the Extra Cheats DLL [linkie].  The thread explains all.

Hope that is some help to you Annabellin  :)

:D, no really I am not that mad. I just wanted to see why you have a problem with making row houses, getting the buildings to touch is very much depending on choosing the right bats. Some models will just not work as rowhouses. The models need flat side walls or the creator of the bat have had to make custom LODs, which quite often is not the case.
I was thinking if you post a picture of your problem it is mostly easier to see what can be done with it to make it better.

I have done a quick guide for annabellelin on making rowhouse plops. It is in Word doc format and attached to this post. If you have any questions, please ask.
