hi troy. your maps are fantastic, i especially like the Fukuoka and Napier-Hastings maps, they are simply fantastic.

a while back i had that problem with the sc4m in sc4mapper. This time i have come equipped with pictures.
This is what your overview looks like:

This is what my overview in sc4mapper looks like:

If i have made a noobie mistake please advise to it and sorry for any inconvenience.  ;D
p.s. the second part of my post is for anyone who can help

blade2k5

I am not sure why the overviews look like that with using sc4mapper to load sc4m's [I use terraformer, don't use sc4mapper at all], but load the sc4m again and save it, then try opening tiles to see if the maps renders ok.....  I also need to know which map it is your having trouble with so I can gather up the correct elevation data.

well it is the Boise map from the Idaho pack. But i seem to get it with most of the maps that have higher altitudes in real life, ie. Butte, Salt Lake City and Boise etc. i have tried different terrain mods and changed the elevation at which snow appears but nothing seems to be working. this is an unfortunate thing as the maps i like of yours all seem to have high altitudes. i have tried opening the tiles with the Butte map but the whole tile is snow..

Just a tease of what is to come in the very near future, here is a massive map of Tokyo that papab2000 and I are working on.  Originally a 76x64 kilometer map, it was too big to open up with sc4tf without the program locking up, so it had to be shrunk down to a more manageable 64x56 kilometer, or 16x14 large tiles in size.  So far, I've spent well over 4 hours on this with countless more to go yet, drawing in the rivers where I can tell that they go and doing a little smoothing along the way to get rid of the 'squared' coastline.

At it's current size, this map will never be able to be uploaded as is, it's over 11mb in size, so papab2000 and I decided to break it down into four 8x7 large tile maps and packaged as two Tokyo 2-paks, hopefully released by Christmas for dolwnload.  More details to follow as the map progresses towards completion.

Well I am glad to see everyone is liking the new maps to be released anytime now.  :) Yes Tokyo is a huge map and will take some time to complete but it should be a good one to.  ;)

A quick update on the Tokyo map.  Here's what 6 hours of painstaking river drawing in SC4TF gets ya   On the eastern side, I've nearly completed drawing in the rivers, with the western side yet to be started.  Once all that is done, I still have to smooth off the river banks and coastal shoreline.

blade2k5,

Excellent work on all of the maps, I know from creating my region what a time consuming project they can be but they all are well worth it in the end and your maps are a stunning example of that. Just out of curiosity, do you know of anyone that is using your maps in a MD or in other examples? I would be curious to see how the building of these great maps turned out. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!

Rich,

"ASK AND YE SHALL RECEIVE"

I completely missed this in the threads. Thanks for posting the link and once I wrap up my region there could be a very good chance I will play around with some of the NHP ones

projectadam - Thanks   I see that papab2000 has already addressed your question regarding NHP maps being used in MDs, but would add there is another I found recently that is using the first real world map [Santa Barbara Ca., available on the LEX exclusively], I made from USGS DEM data.  Unfortunately though, I can't remember the name of the MD. ::)

emilin - Thanks   I haven't had to spend as many hours working on a map since the days I used Paint to 'draw' my fantasy maps more than two years ago.  I'm a little winded :P $%Grinno$%

papab2000 - I had forgotten about your 'Show Us' thread :P  Thanks for the reminder

Ok, now on to the update of the Tokyo project.  I spent another 5+ hrs last night continuing with the task of painstakingly drawing in the rivers on this memory hogging monster of a map :D and got as far as leaving only 2-5 left to do.  I still have to smooth the rough edges which could take as long to do as it did to draw the rivers in.

Papab2000 and I have just released the remaining 4 NHP Map Paks to the STEX.  Japan Map Pak #1, New Zealand Map Pak #1, the South Pacific Isles Map Paks #1, #2 and China Map Paks #1, #2 [China Map Paks also available on the LEX].  Thanks to all for their support during the making and showcassing of these Map Paks   Enjoy.

Coming up for our next Map Pak releases:  Japan

And the Tokyo map keeps progressing and at a surprisingly fast pace.  For the first time in three SC4TF sessions, terraforming in the last few rivers and smoothing along the edges of where the map will be split into 4 8x7 large tile sectional regions, ran pretty smoothly.  Because the final bit of terraforming went rather quickly, I ended up spending another 2 hours opening and closing tiles and now have more than half the map rendered.  More updates to follow soon

Hey Blade I was importing the .sc4m file in SC4Terraformer today for the Nagoya, Japan map, and it's giving me an error saying "It should be (2049 by 2305) but it is (2059 by 2049)."  :'( How would I go about fixing this?
