Nice selection of pics Casper. Glad to see a full update again. I like the Avenue design with the access roads. Is that purely a visual thing or does it actually help relieve traffic in the game? Either way it looks good. I like what you did with Highsbury College too. Small campus, but it fits in there nicely.

In the first years after Highsbury's independence, one of the on-going battles between the major cities was which would become the official capital, and in the end, the Deputies of State Organisation decided to make Highsbury Earley the capital. It was mainly chosen for it's good railway connections (cfr. here) to all of Highsbury's main cities, and it's abundance of wealth due to the nearby industries. Over the years, however, much of the industry decayed and was moved to neighbouring cities, to make place for more commercial activities and residential projects. An architect was brought in from abroad, to design the needed governmental facilities. He was a great fan of the Osturlandian Buildings, and seems to have almost copied them.

Hope you like it!

Let's just start with the picture, okay?

Although most of the Administrative Buildings were built in one complex; it was decided that the Highsburian Parliament would be placed elsewhere. However, the reason for this has been lost over time, and various rumours exist. The Parliament was designed by the same architect, and shares a common style with most administrative buildings. Like the others, the Parliament was built on the foundations of factories and other industries, and it currently exhibits pictures of how the area was before the deconstruction. Tourists often wonder why all of Highsbury's Administrative Centers were built so close to railways. The explanation is pretty straightforward; Highsbury Earley is filled with all kinds of railways and their spurs. Of course, that raises the question as to why the government doesn't demolish them, as they don't get used any more these days. Again, the reason is simple; Earley's Railways are, like the Rhaetian Railway in Switzerland, UNESCO World Heritage, and can thus not be demolished by the government, who plans to renovate some of it, and even build a museum dedicated to the history of railways.

That's a really fantastic picture of Highsbury's Parliament! Nice work on that city!!

Nice bit of background on the government history Casper. The open spaces around the parliament building looks great. Plenty of room to move about without things seeming barren. Looking forward to seeing what's new in Highsbury.

That's a very pleasant green space around the Highsbury Parliament, Casper.  The canals also add to the picture.  Nice update, and keep up the good work.

Update - Highsbury Earley
Well, obviously, it's been ages since I showed you an update, and I'm extremely sorry for that. I hope this one makes up for it  ;)

A dormant neighbourhood with some shopping, alongside a canal.

More shopping and canals

The Greenacre Embassy!

St. Matthew Tech, one of Highsbury's most advanced universities.

The Government Complex

Large railyard along the Complex.

A local neighbourhood with a small hospital.

The Highsbury Parliament, bordered by parks and leisure.

The Highsbury Constitutional Court, where people can oppose decisions by the Government or the Transport Comittee.

A lot of park(ing)s, that's what keeps the civilians calm.

Development around a railway intersection

And, to end with, a local neighbourhood, with typical Highsbury Housing.

Well, that's all for now! I hope you'll be looking forward to the next update.

Glad to see things are still going well in Highsbury. As I mentioned last night, the embassy looks great (hopefully this will be the start of many years of good relations) and the University, what can I say? It looks great. Your adminsitrative areas are top notch (including the Constitutional Court) and your parks look great. Highsbury as a whole just looks good. Quiet little neighborhoods along the canals, good shopping, nice area all around. Hope your break is a good one.

Update [C]: Highsbury Conistone
Whew, an update without a teaser before it.. That's gotta be a record! This update is rather small, but that's merely due to Highsbury Conistone is only a quarter of a medium tile big (the rest is water). I hope you enjoy what you see, tho!

This picture shows a large estate, close to the seaside, where a large hotel is situated. Due to the owner's special contacts with the government, he was not expropriated for the Conistone Canal Road, and instead an odd kind of tunnel was built under his house. However, there are plans for a rebuild of the area surrounding the mansion.

More typical suburbs! It is a rare happening seeing a church in Highsbury, but unlike most City Councils, the Conistone Council is fairly religious.

A small railway spur from Highsbury Earley goes to Metarvo's Cookery. It supplies it with goods, ores and slaves.

More suburban living. There's barely any commercial or industrial activity in Conistone, so most dwellers are part of the daily commute.

More views on the Conistone Canal Road. Nobody really knows why a canal was built that close to the Bay of Rights, but the legend goes that in it's founding days, Conistone was flooded by a tsunami, and the water never fully retracted back to the ocean.

The few industrials in Conistone.

A main GLR-in-Avenue that spreads over the whole length of Conistone helps to decrease car-usage to a minimum.

No-one knows what happens behind the doors of Geere Robotics, but some rumours are going around...

Conistone's only Hospital, based on many others Hospitals with the same shape around Highsbury.

That's it for today, folks! Hope to see you again soon!

I love your suburbs! But in the first picture... where does the underpass go? It's next to the canal and it's a bit unrealistic ;).

I got a little sidetracked from Highsbury today...

Luckily, I think the result is quite pleasing. What do you think?

For those left wondering "Why aren't there any trees on the hill?", here's the awnser: I wanted to create a small hiking path on it, but forgot to download  a dependency (d'oh!)

Anyone wants more rural activity in the Portfolio?
