Oooh I should fix that soon, I think I just came up with something generic like POLICE in the middle of the trunk... Are they ALL a Chevy Impala model?

EDIT: I changed the lights on the gray cop car, and I've done another black and white cop car skin.
My days here are numbered. It's been great and I've had a lot of fun, but I've moved on to bigger and better things.

Yes, all of them are Chevy Impala's

nerdly_dood

It shouldn't be too hard to fix the headlights and tail lights so they look more like an Impala... actually it should be pretty easy.

I don't really know how to make my additional police cars and have them function how everyone wants them, so yesterday I made a poll here to help me with that. Nobody has voted so far though.

I have a request for some more Canadian police and fire vehicles i do have some pics for rendering i wish I knew how too do so but i dont. so your help or anyone else's help would be most helpful.

j_baker

heres a few more police pics i included the new paint scheme for the OPP Ontario provincial police swat team and highway rangers also the local Niagara regional police with their new paint scheme. would really like these vehicles for game play.

j_baker

almost forgot about the Niagara EMS this new paint scheme really looks cool better  then the older dont u agree here is the old and new paint would really like the new paint scheme for my EMS in game play.

nerdly_dood

Niagara Regional police added to my list, and OPP was already on it.

I have also been planning a few ambulance skins with different designs, but that has somewhat low priority.

Yeah, you thought I was done forever!  :D  WRONG.

Police van development: I have found the FSH textures for the police vans that are intended to give users of the PEG cop car mod a matching police van. The ones for St. Lucie Sheriff and NYPD were made using only the PEG police car textures as a template: if I used any RL images, they wouldn't look as similar to the PEG versions as they would otherwise. Also, the black-and-white and SCPD vans were directly based on the Maxis police van texture. (meaning that the lower half of the vans is black, not the front and back ends) Also, since the van's model is pretty crummy, I have to limit the width of the colored parts of the lights: if I make the red and blue sections wider, then they get totally ruined, so what you have is what you have. &mmm Still, it's better than nothing, and also I can release it tonight if I try... (Sorry, too lazy to do it all tonight, probable release within a week)

The vans will include within the individual DATs for each separate van mod a modification of the van's flashing light models so they match the van's individual lights (mostly red and blue, but blue only for the Orange Stripe van) which is done so that the vans match the PEG police cars that much more. Also they will include separate DATs for red and blue or blue police car lights (so you don't have the old single red light effect that looked good on the Maxis police car, but really ruins the PEG police cars)

Completed mod: Also, if you thumb back a page or two, you can find a post of mine to which I attached a Virginia Beach, VA police car skin, and I also have several other police car (and other) skins already run through FiSHMan and ready to put in-game. These that I have already completed will be released shortly after the police van pack. (They will not be very coherent or organized, I was just fiddling around when I did them, but they are [mostly] release quality)

Future development: Keep in mind that I am still working on my Vista computer, so I can't use FiSHMan. (That's a program I use to change the PNG images I use for the textures into FSH files that the game uses as skins for models) HOWEVER I do have a newfound source of money (One thousand seven hundred and ninety-two dollars) coming soon it got here seconds ago, which will enable me to purchase a new laptop and Windows XP. (Thank you social security!) Once I get the computer and install XP on it, I will run all the textures I have made through FiSHMan and make more police car skins of of those. Yay! I'm rich!

Also, I may create more textures for the flashing lights - that way, the lights would flash in a way that more closely resembles the way they are on the vehicles. This would likely require that I release them as a dependency pack.

Requests: I do intend to make ambulance skins - I don't need any requests for those until after I've released my first pack. ;) Also, making a Montreal police car would require that I either omit the large number on the doors of every police vehicle, or else the number would be the same on each and every one.

Also, here is a list of current textures I have made:

Red text means none of the skins have been run through FiSHMan
Orange text means one or more of the skins have been run through FiSHMan
Blue text means the textures are all ready to be put in-game and released
The colors of text in here will be revised as the textures are run through FiSHMan once I get the laptop.

Skin packs:
- Spanish civic vehicles (Two varieties of Spanish National Police cars, an ambulance and a fire truck. Dependency: SW77 Automata Essentials)
- Police vans to match PEG cop cars
- Improved school buses
- Ugly pink convertible replacement pack (Your choice of ONE of blue, green, red or black sedan)
- Police vans to match Police Cars MEGA-PACK 1 (others have not been started yet but will be done)
- Improved paint job for SW77 Euro Emergency Vehicles (on LEX: creator is Swamper77)
- Pack of sheriff cars with red stripe (New York style)
- Pack of boring police/sheriff cars (Plain white car with no stripe and very little adornment, as always your choice of lights)
- Expanded pack of police cars with blue stripe
Single skins:
- Virginia Beach, VA police
- Yet another Polish police car
- Florida highway patrol
- Boston, MA police (Texture incomplete)
- Annapolis, MD police
- Durand, WI police (Be aware that the PNG image has fine details similar to those which FiSHMan has been known to work badly with)
- Knoxville, TN police
- Ontario provincial police (Both the black/white and the white versions)
- Abu Dhabi, UAE police (In English as well as Arabic - I have no idea what the Arabic text says, I simply copied it by hand with meticulous precision)
- Alachua County, FL sheriff
- Americus, GA police
- Blacksburg, VA police (The texture may need to be refined - it has a stripe across its trunk that should line up with one across the side, I may need to adjust it)
- Bristol, VA/TN police [It's on the VA/TN border...]
- Charlotte County, FL sheriff
- A police car based on Charlotte County sheriff
- Georgia state patrol
- Gotham City police (based on the cars in the latest Batman movies)
- Swiss Militärpolizei
- The following police cars that cannot be described with words:

And also there's a police car requested by Deion30296 (The one I have done now has plain red and blue lights, otherwise it's the same as this)

Is that enough for ya?! :D
I may have to split that into two mega-packs...

Individual police car skins can be posted on request. They will show up in a similar fashion to the ones demonstrated above (the ones that words couldn't properly describe)

What's puzzled me is the number of skins you can make in a short period of time :o!! I do love the dark grey with the blue lines.

Short period of time? The last time I released was in July and now it's October... But then i did make the textures for the boring police cars in less than an hour.

I will hereby refer to these and similar police/sheriff cars as the "fancy" police/sheriff cars. (There may be more varieties of fancy ones made.)

I have done a very few ambulance skins, but that number (two as of now) will increase soon. One is a preliminary texture that will definitely be improved to release quality very soon, and the other is perfect at the moment. EDIT: Twelve actually...

I have now completed these additional police car skins:
- Philadelphia, PA police
- Nonspecific Puerto Rico police car (Release would require a green flashing light effect!)
- South Portland, Maine police

I intend to add:
- Minnesota state police
- Bay County, FL sheriff
- Several ambulance skins (of course)

Also I have devised another way to have red/blue lights on police vans using the current imperfect model, but that is not a guarantee that it will work.
My days here are numbered. It's been great and I've had a lot of fun, but I've moved on to bigger and better things.

Okaayyy... The police van mod pack is completed, and ready for me to get in-game images, fix up a readme and upload it to the STEX. Also, I have compiled every single skin I have made so far (except a few police van skins, they'll be posted later) and here they are, in a somewhat organized fashion.

To use these textures in-game without waiting for me to release them, you can use this tutorial to put the textures in-game. You must first use one of my police car mods, preferably with the same color lights as the texture you borrowed from the ones below, and in the tutorial where it says "edit the skin to your liking" insert one of these images instead. Be aware that FiSHMan cannot, will not, and ain't gonna work on Windows Vista, compatibility mode or not. It will be more difficult to re-skin a police van, though.
Alpha Maps (essential for re-skinning automata)
Police Car:           Police Van:

Large Police Car Packs
New York-style sheriff cars
Since all police and sheriff vehicles in the state of New York have red or red/white lights and most have a red stripe, this is what I came up with. (They may look exactly the same, but you'll notice that I gave more variety of red lights than usual)

Boring police cars
These are a collection of plain white cars with a minimum of adornment, meant to indicate a low-budget police department. (Sorry, I can't make them appear below a certain funding level for your police department...) The ones I post all have red/blue lights, but they are also available in all-red and all-blue lights.

Blue stripe  police cars
The first set I made was rather small and didn't allow for as much flexibility as this set does, and also the way I had its blue stripe set up, at times in-game it looked like a set of diagonal blue stripes, which was not my intention. This set cannot possibly show up with a row of diagonal stripes, and it allows much more variety. Also, I will only post the red/blue light style but red-only and blue-only are also available.

Small Police Car Packs and single police cars that are not based on a RL police department
Fancy Police and Sheriff Cars
This is a set of cars I came up with and just had to make: first I had the black sheriff car, then i made it into a police car, then i added a white version of each... This pack violates my belief that the one color of stripe no self-respecting sheriff car should have on it is blue. This pack is only available with red/blue lights.

Black Etc. Police Cars
I came up with the black one with the white hood, roof and trunklid first (black etc.) then the white one with the black hood, roof and trunklid (black etc. inverted) and then the plain white one last (black etc. minus black). They are only available with red lights.

Pimpin' Cop Car
Don'tcha cops need a nice ride? We ain't got many skins fo' their rides that look all that cool, see, so I went and made one for the cops that wanna roll in style... 8) I got it some nice rims, it got a STEXy paint job, de headlights and taillights, and i even come up with a cool light to stick on top too.

Hispanic police vehicles based on props in an LBT prop pack (not sure which)
I was beginning to run out of inspiration when I made these, so I went and got the designs by looking at some props in Lot Editor... Not the most efficient way to get a look at them, but hey, it works... You can't see props very well in Lot Editor due to the pixelated view in closer zooms, so I had to come up with some parts of the design (particularly the text) myself. As you can tell they are available with text in Spanish and in English; the lights are only available in red/blue.

Undefined Police and Sheriff Cars
I had been thinking that we needed some police and sheriff cars with some blue and green stripes, and this is what I came up with. I couldn't think of a suitable name for these... so they're forever undefined. This pack also violates my belief that sheriff cars must not have any blue on them. Lights are only available in blue.

Police and Sheriff Cars with Wide Stripes in various colors
These I based off the South Portland, Maine police car shown below which I felt needed to be more colorful. First I had the police and sheriff car with the green stripe, and after that came blue, red and black, in that order. Lights are only available in red/blue.

I will add a police/sheriff car with a wide gold stripe, and also gold, blue, green and black police/sheriff cars with a wide white stripe, and a brown sheriff car with a wide gold stripe.

Gray Police Car
This one started out as a toy car I've had floating around my room since I was ten years old (now I'm sixteen) that kinda migrated into prominent places of its own accord, so i knew it well... i don't play with it, never really did, but I still kinda like it, and this design is based off it. (this one does not include he orange highlights that the toy car has)

Orange and Green Stripe "Polizei" Cars
This one started out as a typical Austrian police car: white with an orange stripe and blue lights. So then I added another with a green stripe instead of orange to satisfy German SimCity players. (Ya know... I could turn the gray police car above into gray with green stripes and the word POLIZEI along the side... that might look decent...)

Nonspecific Puerto Rico Police Car
I'm not sure how many people here are from Puerto Rico, but I made one anyway... This one is based on what PR police cars in general have: Blue and green lights, yellow and green stripes, and the word "Policia" in small text near the top of the doors and the word "Transito" in big text near the bottom. I will have to create a new colored light texture in order to properly release this one because to my knowledge there is no green one.

Black and White Police Car: Type 1
I figured that there were more police cars out there in the real world than just ones without stripes (actually I've seen dozens of them) and since Ja/Att's set on the STEX only has police cars with a single color stripe, I made one with a modern design and a blue and gold stripe. An earlier version had a white hood and trunklid but I removed those.

Black and White Police Car: Type 2
The only black and white police car I've released so far with a black rear door is the California Highway Patrol car in Mega-Pack 1, and the only other one can only be used as Ontario Provincial Police due to the prominent "OPP" on the front door. So I made one with a nonspecific emblem on the door and called it Type Two. (Only available with this unique flavor of red/blue lights)

Blue and White Polish

RL Police Car Designs and similar ones based on them
(notice that i didn't mention RL cities...)

Gotham City from the latest Batman movies

Ontario Provincial Police
I don't know how these would look like without LED lights which all of the black and white cars have (but most of the white ones don't - they usually have the lights that I show here) so I just came up with what I thought they would look like with standard colored lights. (The black/white cars have red/blue LED lights that look gray when they aren't flashing)

Wisconsin State Patrol
It took me a little while to decide what to do with the lights so I ended up using what the light bar looks like from the front.

South Portland, Maine

Rocky Mount, NC
Another solution to our lack of white police cars with a red stripe.

Philadelphia, PA

Nassau County, NY and a blue-light version with the text "Nassau County" replaced with "Winchester" for for SimsReporter's MD (aka SimsRealator at ST)

Swiss Militärpolizei or Military Police
I hope to release a station-wagon version of this in the future (because that's what most Militärpolizei cars are)

Spanish Guardia Civil or Civil Guard

Georgia State Patrol
I intend to make a version with orange text instead of white soon.

Charlotte County, FL and a police car based on it

Bristol, VA/TN (The city straddles the Virginia/Tennessee border)

Blacksburg, VA
This texture may need to be refined because the black stripe crosses the trunklid and it may not be aligned properly to fit with the model.

Atlanta, GA

Americus, GA
They sure do like to have a lot of contrast on their police cars...

Alachua County, FL
The white on the side-view WILL NOT show up in-game.

Abu Dhabi, UAE with English and Arabic text
The RL cars have text only in Arabic that I cannot read at all (it might say "NERDS SUCK" for all I know) so I added a version with English text too. I also hand-drew the Arabic text pixel by pixel!

Durand, WI

Knoxville, TN

Annapolis, MD

Virginia Beach, VA
This car is attached a few pages back as a completed mod. I added the roof text, push bar and bumper lights because EVERY VBPD car has them.

Hampton, VA requested by DeathToPumpkins
I may add some further refinement to the stripes on this car...

I will add the ambulance skins soon.

Sorry, no ambulance textures yet... (but you can go here if you're not so lazy you have to wait for me to post them)

Textures I intend to add:
- Georgia state patrol with orange text {done}
- Wide white stripe on gold, black, blue and green police/sheriff cars {done}
- Wide gold stripe on brown sheriff car
- Black and white police car intended to match Maxis police car, but with modern design* {done}
- More vibrant gold color on gold police car for Deion30296 (forgot to add to latest post) {done}
- Several nonspecific State Police car designs (some based on existing textures) {done} (unless i think up another design or three)

* This car will use the badge emblem copied from the Maxis police car skin, which requires FiSHMan to change from a FSH to a PNG, so unless someone else is willing to give it to me, this texture is to be delayed until I can get my laptop (which will hopefully be by this weekend) Otherwise, I can fix have fixed up a blank black and white police car to match everything else other than the door emblem on the police car. That includes which panels are white and which are black, lightbar color... and that's about all I can do ATM.
