I've always wanted to make my own highway interchanges, intersections of roads, avenues, and streets. I have the tools, but I just don't know how to use them. Could I get a tip of how to do mod these networks?

Im at work right now so I cannot find and provide a link.  But over at ST in the transit modding forums there is a thread.  If I remember correctly it is called the Interchange Tutorial thread.  There will be a link within one of the first few posts to a Interchange Tutorial created by Red Lotus... I think.

ST is a filtered website here at work so I cant even get on the site at all.

Getting the tutorial is a bit more complicated as it isn't linked on ST anymore. But there is a link to Redlotus' tutorial.

LINK

You have to enter the Public folder and there you will find the tutorial.

Wow, Erik- It is so great that you still had the link.  I went to look for this last night, couldn't find it, remembered I had printed it out, then when I located my "dead tree" file, found that for some reason I only had the last 50 or so of the 80 pages.

godjcjk12, hi.  If you were to put in the time to be able to create competent new interchanges, I think you would just about be garanteed immortality in this community.  I spent a few weeks trying to get the hang of it last summer using the tutorial- I don't want to scare you off in advance, but despite some real effort I was never able to produce anything that I would admit I had some connection with.

New interchanges are probably the most often wished for SC4 addition.

Good luck!

The Redlotus Interchange Tutorial is the only "good" Tutorial.

I would suggest that you find a niche, get into modelling, texturing, etc.  And learn something first.  You need to be adept with iLive Reader, Lot Editor, Texturing, SC4Tool, GMax before you attempt to make an interchange from scratch.  Now, if you were to do this in a group of people it would be best if you were adept with at the bare minimum SC4Tool, iLive Reader and atleast one of the other three (LE, Texturing or GMax).

Then when you have a good handle on using these programs and have gotten good at them that I suggest you attempt to read through the RedLotus Interchange Tutorial.  I myself, have released the BETA of SAM and I still cannot create an interchange because there is too much information for me to learn still that I need to make an interchange.  Think of interchanges as the holy grail, everything else is just the road before getting to it.  The problem is people start not realizing what they are getting into and thats why you see so many interchanges that get started and none ever get finished.  There is not enough time to learn everything you need to know and survive in RL.

One thing in Transit Modding you should learn first if your goal is to make an interchange would be to learn how to make puzzle pieces.  If you can make puzzle pieces functional, you will have gotten half way there.
