That looks great man! How do you render something that big? Whenever I try to do something like that I get something like this:

QuoteExport Failed!
Code = 6

Do you know what this is and how to fix it?

Edit:

Welcome to Page 20! ;D

My new MD. Check it out if you wish.

Adrian, I miss you man.

Nice looking BAT work.  Doing a construction sequence with that many custom lots is quite ambitious, I'm looking forward to seeing how it comes together.

WOW:shocked2: My guess was way off!! :D

I really do look forward to seeing how it turns out ;)

Sendona... Coming soon!

Jordan (canyonjumper): Well, there will be a mall in it, but it'll be more than that. The quote that emgmod posted should help you figure out what the main purpose of this BAT will be. And yes, this is definitely a big project. Thanks for replying!

emgmod: Aha, you've figured it out! Good job on that!

Alex (Driftmaster07): Thank you, Alex! I haven't had any issues rendering this BAT, thankfully; it just takes a while to render a building of this size. (I've already answered your question in PMs, so I'll spare everyone else the response.)

Battlecat: Thanks! It certainly is an ambitious project, and it's taking much longer than I anticipated. I may have erred in mentioning this project in Update 37, since now I'm more or less committed to making it the next story update. More on that below, though.

Daniel (danielcote): Thank you! It has definitely taken quite a bit of work, not to mention the research I've done to try and make this BAT as realistic as I can.

976: Thanks! That first version of the BAT took a total of about an hour to render (40 minutes for the day views and 20 for the night views), while the second version, which is about three times as tall, took about 2.5 hours (really 110 minutes for the day views and 50 for the night views). I shudder to think of how long it would take to render an 800m+ model, but thanks to some advice I received from mightygoose in my BAT thread, I won't have to endure that.

Ryan (carkid1998): Thank you, Ryan! Hopefully it won't take too long to finish this project.

I've decided to put the story updates on hold until my work on the BAT I showed you is finished. Now that I'm back in school, that might take a while, so rather than leave this CJ alone for weeks on end, I'm going to simply post snpashots of my latest in-game work while I keep BATting. Here's the first of those specials:

I got hold of CAM 2.0, which is in beta right now, and am letting it slowly transform the city center. Already, several new skyscrapers have sprouted, and I'm pretty happy with what's grown so far.

Feel brand new. Be inspired.

Your urban core looks fantastic!  You've got a fantastic variety of buildings.

Interesting thing though, there's an interesting little cluster of short buildings in the center of everything.  Is that just some reluctant lots or are there some historical buildings hiding in there?

Nice downtown! All those tall buildings!

I think I have seen a much longer version of this MD at Simtropolis as a City Journal.

976: Thank you, my friend! The water mod I'm using is the SMP Paradise Blue Water Mod.

Battlecat: Thanks very much! While some of those short buildings in the middle probably are stubborn, and maybe one or two are historical, the main reason there aren't any larger buildings there is because that's where Nyhaven MetroRail's elevated Hill and Eastern Lines run. Since their viaducts aren't directly above any city streets, they are taking up some real estate that would otherwise get filled up with large lots.

djvandrake: Thank you!

Jordan (canyonjumper): Thanks, Jordan! There certainly are a lot of tall buildings downtown, but I can tell you that they'll all be dwarfed by the BAT project I showed you last month - whenever I actually finish it...

daryl7478: You probably have. While I copied most of that version's old updates over here, I decided not to bring over the updates from the first version of Nyhaven that I built, which was lost when I accidentally reformatted my hard drive. That's why the SC4D edition of Nyhaven is shorter. Thanks for stopping by, and come back soon!

Before I launch into showing you today's special, I have a small announcement about Nyhaven's setting in time. To make interacting with my fellow LoN members easier, I decided to modify the history of Lower Columbia so that it is now entirely in the past. For our purposes, that means that the first story update centered on our chief engineer, Paul Franconi, now takes place in 1970 instead of 2370. I didn't simply make everything happen 400 years earlier than I originally had things happen, though; if you want to find out just when all the events in Lower Columbia's history happened according to the new timeline (or just learn more about the historical background of the country Nyhaven is in), feel free to read the history section in the country's LoN Wiki article.

With that out of the way, let's have a couple of mosaics!

While playing the central Nyhaven quad recently, I noticed that the Maxis university was overcrowded. So, I decided to look at enrollment figures for each lot in the University of Nyhaven to see how many students there actually were at the university, and the total came out to be 25,040. That's one big university! I knew I needed more buildings to handle the overflow from the Maxis university, so I decided to do away with most of the old buildings and rebuild the campus with Jon's (JBSimio's) excellent University of Clayhurst modular university pack. I also added swi21's University of Athens BAT, which has a decent student capacity.

After unpausing the game to let the students redistribute themselves among the new classroom lots, I was dismayed to see that over half of them were trying to cram into the U of Athens lot, causing more faculty strikes! Although I like the look of this BAT, I think I'll have to take it out to force the students to distribute themselves more equally between the functional Clayhurst lots (I must confess, I cheated and plopped a second functional lot to ensure that I had enough capacity). I also think that the creek on the eastern edge of campus would look better as ploppable water, which will result in there being more buildable land on campus, so I'm going to take these two ideas as excuses to redesign the campus a second time. This time, I'll relocate the other classroom lots and streets to accommodate an even grander design. So keep your eyes peeled for Remodel #2!

Feel brand new. Be inspired.

Nice remodeling job!  I'm really looking forward to incorporating some parts of Clayhurst into my region as well!

I like your usual engineering take on things. Particularly so with the remodelling of the university. I'm going to enjoy watching the development process of thing, and the chjanges between different drafts; something that's far more difficult to do in the real world. Out of curiosity, what's the building with the large patio area just south of the main quad area in the first mosaic?

Fantastic updates there in the last time!
Great work on your MD!
Looking forward to more... ;)

emgmod

It's amazing how you managed to fit Clayhurst with the other buildings. With very few exceptions, it seems seamless.

daryl7478

I have a question? What is that big train station in one of you past updates? You know, the one with a bus station, and a subway station altogether with the train station. Can you give me a link to that? I also can't believe I'm the 399th reply here! Wow, 400 replies! Good job!

Edit: I have found the station here at the LEX so never mind about the link.
