Thanks to all for the nice comments 

I said I was not sure about the previous pics, because I used a model which was not mine, just to see how the idea did look like. I have started to create a completely new (and mine) dam, very similar to this one, but with my personal "signature" 

Before I start to post some pics of the dam, and complete it, I have decided to finish the props for the first lots pack, so you can have some lots available soon, and then I will follow with the dam, which is probably going to be something more....what about a modular plopable dam...

SimFox, I appreciate your suggestions and I will keep them in mind when skinning my new model

Could you also create a "fish ladder" for your set? A fish ladder is a set of pools of water like a stairway that the migrating fish jump upstream with. It gives the fish a route around the dam.

When you at it, could you make the dam lean backwards. Have a look at the Hover Dam.

   Oooooh a fish ladder.   Very kool idea.     I thought the spillway was just about the koolest thing.     I can bearly wait for the canals let alone the dam, the spillway and a fish ladder too.   LOL   It just keeps getting better and better.     Did I mention I was waiting for the canals.    LOL     
I was thinking about the spillway, you could use some animated water/spray to indicate when it was operating.    Hmmm can water be made seasonal?   

And did I read diagonals and underbridge pieces?

Yup that is what the man said.
    I wonder if you are going to do any diagonal underbridge pieces.   Several times now I have wanted to run a canal under diagonal transit (ie. road, street, rail, GLR, highway, etc.) but there is nothing out there that I can find to do it.     (I have uesed a "road over avenue" piece and hid the piece under the canal.)

I know it's just early stages, but this is going to be one of your masterpieces again jeronij.

How about starting a new thread for it, after all this is the Urban residential canals thread and not the 'Jeronij dam' thread is it?

So what is the staus ofteh canals?
Any chance to ponder over the suggestions that others and myself made?

    Hmmm, fish ladders are a series of small "pools".   Each pool is set slightly higher than the one before it if going upstream.   The fish can then jump from one pool to the next.  [ LINKIE ]  I'm not a big wikipedia fan but this link has some really good pictures of fish ladders or weirs [ WIKI LINKIE ]   Hope this helps Jeronij.   
    BTW, did I mention that I was still waiting for thr canals to be released?            LOL
