I hope there won't be a war, because the idea to see this beautiful city (partly) destroyed is just heartbreaking.
Excellent update by the way, like the first highway, and now you've made me curious about Lafayette!

Still not much progress with the Wiki, however this chapter I would like to start off with a bit of a clarification. I think some are confused on the location of Genevra as well as the current conflict erupting with Cameroon, so here's a simple map:

1: This is the location of the Genevran homeland in western Europe and the site of the capital of Montereau; the conflict with Cameroon does not and will likely not spread to affect the European motherland.

2: This is where the Genevran colony of  île de la Guinée is located in the Gulf of Guinea, just off the coast of Cameroon. This is where the current hostilities are occurring as well as the blockade of Douala.

Now onto the images themselves...in this update we return to the previous area shown in Chapter 12. Most importantly we see a frontal view of the Palais D'été, or the Summer Palace. Historically it served as the summer home of the Grand Duke in Montereau, surrounded by lush gardens and fountains. Today it is far more modest and serves the purpose of being the permanent residence of the Grand Duke. The gardens and ostentatious flair of the palace were largely removed in the mid-20th century as a means to further reduce to the Genevran absolute monarchy.

The outbreak of hostilities in the Gulf of Guinea also found a spot on Fox News.com as nations around the world reacted to the blockade.

First of all, I would like to say that I am greatly honored to once again accept the award of OSITM. ;D And I would like to thank everyone for their support and comments that have made this possible. I eagerly look forward to this special month for Genevra. :)

TopCliff: Haha well then it's a good thing that the war is far from the capital city. :P

Navox: I'm glad you enjoy the "war" so far, as I know some members are rather adverse
to war stories ending up in MD's. ;)

BarbarossaS: Well I hope then that my little clarification in the opening has allayed those fears...any conflict
will be far from the Genevran motherland. :) As for Lafayette...well you'll just have to wait and see! Though Montereau is
approaching completion, slowly but surely. ::)

mightygoose: I'm not quite sure yet! We'll just have to wait and see. ;)

Swesim: No explanation so far...seems a bit fishy to me. %confuso

Sciurus: Very much Parisian, I absolutely love the Hausmannian style. ;D

Micheal: Thank you Micheal, we are always glad to have the support of our
powerful friend in Atlantis. :)

art128: Thank you Arthur! The award is quite an honor. :satisfied:

Craig: I'm glad you agree with the decision of the SC4D staff. ;D

Jmouse: A newcomer! Your presence is very much welcomed Joan and I
thank you for you kind words. :)

kimcar: Thank you friend! :) :)

Orange_o_: Thank you, I'm very happy to be among the OSITM. :satisfied:

bat: ;D ;D
...this space to be filled soon...

BarbarossaS

Thanks for the explanation, it's nice to hear that this beautiful city isn't likely to be destroyed!  ;D
The map explained a lot, I really thought Genevra was down there with île de la Guinée too.

As for the update: what more can I say that I haven't said already. I'm running out of superlatives to describe your work!  &apls
The summer palace looks extremely beautiful, and I like that church next to the highway a lot. Especially with those statues in front of it.

Nice to see FoxNews has picked up the conflict between Genevra and Cameroon, maybe we'll see a special issue of Le Monarque next time  ;)

-Stijn-

Sciurus

Excellent, I really love this city, and you know, I think I guessed you loved the Haussmaian style ;D But it's beauitful reagardless . One question: on the first and the second image, is the highway the "Boulevard périphérique"?

Guillaume

You have a great city, you really do. Are we ever going to see the attacks on the colony? That would be a real test of chopping abilities.
Best movie of all time: Ferris Bueller's Day Off. If you disagree, Cameron will send your car over a cliff.

Please, call me Leo.  I quote John Lennon now, a great musician and philosopher. Particularly, one of his songs: You may say I'm a dreamer. But I'm not the only one. I hope someday you join us, and the world will live as one.

really really cool, i like this MD very much.
