Ehhh... and I wasn't even drunk... ()what() %confuso

FFFFFFFFFFFEB010 is the same as -86,000
FFFFFFFFFFFEF660 is the same as -68,000

I think I'm gonna hide away for a while... :D

converting CE4   (3300)  and then pressing apply under Unit32 shows something like 0x00000000       is that correct?

JBSimio

Type in 0x00000CE4  and then hit apply ;)

I don't think we'll be able to get that away, since it's saved in the city's saved game file.
Other than by plopping another water pump having an equally large negative monthly cost...

gabrielbyrnei

a little tutorial on how to get that -68000 working would be great

Thanks

Thus, enter 0xFFFFFFFFFFFEF660 for the Budget Item: Cost ;)

gabrielbyrnei

would you mind giving it a try? Because its certainly not working for me.
This is the folder where the water plant is.

RippleJet

Well, you've given both plants a monthly cost of 0xFFFFFFFEFFFEF660, which is the same as -4,295,035,296 ::)

Correct that E in the middle to F... :P

gabrielbyrnei

i cant seem to change that E to F, when i click on apply it changes back to E

if i cant correct this thing i kinda lost all of the progress i made on the game region.
Now besides that 68.000 on my budget, on every other city i had this waterplant the budget starts off at 700 then climbs up to 7000, getting bigger every month.

That is strange indeed. I do get the same result in Reader as well.
A way to solve it seems to be to enter 0xFFFEF660 (as if the type would be SInt32) in the "Values as text" field,
then click Apply to the right of that field, and then Apply on the bottom.

That's a bug called the phantom funding sliders bug.
It occurs whenever you change the monthly cost of a civic building without first bulldozing all existing such buildings.

I think you may consider the cities you're playing in at the moment as being test grounds for your first steps in modding.
Everything you're learning now will be quite valuable whenever you want to mod something to be the final version. ;)

gabrielbyrnei

yeah, already started a new region, i think im just gonna delete that waterplant pack from my plugins.

How can i mod maxis water treatment plant so it has larger capacity ?

Edit the file I attached to an earlier post and place it in your plugins folder. ;)
You need to change the following three properties:

  • Pollution at center
  • Pollution radii
  • Pollution at outer edge of circle

All those properties have four "reps", one each for air, water, garbage and radiation.
In other words, the second rep is for water pollution.

As you can see, the water pollution values are 0xFFFFFED4 and 0xFFFFFF06, meaning you have -300 at the center and -250 at the edge.
The radius is 48 tiles.

For SInt32 (as well as UInt32 and UInt8) values you can actually enter decimal values (even negative ones for SInt32) directly in Reader, and they will automatically convert into corresponding hex values. ;)

gabrielbyrnei

sounds complex, i better just leave it as it is or ill get into trouble again hehe.

Where do you get all of the maxis standard buildings?
So i dont have to bother you each time. Now i want to mod the gran rail station.

I decided to post a separate tutorial on that subject... ::)

How to extract a building from SimCity_1.dat

gabrielbyrnei

didnt want to create a separate topic for this so...

I heard around the forum about doubled regional workforce that leaves buildings with that typical "Workers: None".
Is there a practical in-game solution in the meantime we wait for CAM 2.0 ?

Also, using the plugin Z, its very hard to avoid getting eternal commuters since now sims can travel longer distances, so even though you build city connection far from each other, sims will still be able to get to them, creating eternal commuters.
The only solution i got in my mind is making 3 city connections only, 1 on them residential and the other 2 cities purely job cities.
Its annoying and very unrealistic, making only groups of 3 cities connected to each other but separated from the world :P

Thanks

Set aside one (or a few) purely industrial cities somewhere on the outskirts of your region.
Those industries will probably grow, but not get employers.
However, they will reduce the need for jobs in your downtown area. ;)

That has been feared and experienced, but I'll leave it to z to give you a reply to that. ;)
