This is where I shall post the images from challenge 1 when I start to play.

The Governor of Grand River Valley sent out his advisers looking for new country to inhabit. They found an area with a variety of terrain and went back to the Governor to tell him their findings and plans.
He approved of their suggestions to put a route through the region and also to place a rail line as he knew that they would need the rail connections. He did, however, make them look to the Romans for their route planning and so the first road - Route 10 - was laid down in Bordertown. They went round the base of the first mountain range they came across then took the road straight across until they nearly reached the sea. The road was turned south at that point to pass over the river and reach the next connection out of the region. The rail route followed the road route as it was the cheapest and easiest way to place it.

LowTown Hills (tile B)  is a particularly interesting area as it has very high mountains but quite a lot of land that can be built on. The mayor here will need to balance nature and habitation.

The future mayors of this region should be pleased with the initial road and rail planning as it leaves many options for the future.

Wow, already? Did you think it over correctly? We wouldn't want you later to have any problems and asking for permissions to move this and that.....lol. Now you cannot change anything anymore, a copy of your pictures were made.
Lynn and I would like like to see another picture from you please. Tile A in view 1. Thank You.

I will not comment on my behalf in the challenge threads as I did with GRV I, when I comment it will be as the judge only, but I will comment in your regular GRV II thread.

That's fine, Fred. I tried to do things quickly to show how we intend the challenges to be shown. I would have put my road along that route anyway. I shall take another picture and post tomorrow as it is just about my bed time here.

Thanks Barby - very helpful to us newbee's. I was fearful that I'd run afoul of the rules and have points docked because I didn't understand some thing.   &cry2   But I was over analyzing things it seems  ::)

Wha??? Where am I? Oh, that's right! I'm here!

1st Cab off the rank! Lowtown Hills looks as though it will be very picturesque - I really like your new terrain mods.

Hey, seems great minds think alike, sure you haven't got a camera in my room... your road path is identical to mine and your rail very similar, very practical, and efficient.
NAM + CAM + RAM + SAM, that's how I roll....

That is exactly why we will show our points only after the timedelay of the challenges and after everyone has posted, even if we already have made the points for Barby and someone else. The idea is if we give good points to Barby and show them as soon as she uploaded her work (as an example) someone will copy it to get the same points, and when it's bad, one will know not to build like this. Leaving everyone in the dark until the last minute will give us a better variety of gameplay.

I was a little puzzled as to why you wanted a picture of tile A but then realised the region view didn't show the rail connection out over the bridge. I hope you can see it in this picture.

Not only did the bridge not show, but the connection to the neighboring city doesn't seem to be on the regionview. Thanks for clearing that up.

My region view picture was taken from Region Census and I have checked again and the rail connection from the peninsular  across the river to the north does not show. In SC4 Region View it does - just but not very well.

Your placement of the road and rail is effective and sensible, Barby.  Good work!   After looking at Tile A, I assume that the region is not forested very densely.  Is that true for the entire region, or just Tile A?
Find my power line BAT thread here.
Check out the Noro Cooperative.  What are you waiting for?  It even has electricity.

Here are some rural power lines.

BarbyW

No, it isn't densely forested. There are trees but they don't show up in Region Census.

First of all let us congratulate You. You have made it through the first Mayor's test.
On the picture below, circles with letters will indicate what was importantin your region for this challenge. If we say we don't like or we like, it doesn't mean that it's the same for others. We are judging to our lknowledge and what would be the most logical thing to do in our opinion, remember this.

A.  We liked the way you contoured the mountain, which is less costly than going right over it, besides maintenance will be a lot less costly. Very Good decision.
B. But we didn't like the way you crossed the hills here and build an expensive bridge over the river. It would have been better to have started the road on the right side of the lake in Lowtown hills since you were allowed to start the rails anywhere on the map. Fair decision.
C. was a good choice to cross the river, although it took another bridge in Hightown Bay, which is small and less expensive than contouring the hills. Good decision.

For a road and rail to be short, your's is hard too beat. That straight is simple , less expensive and short. So, we gave you 3 points for each job, which is fairly good. Congratulations.

We'll see You in Challenge II.

Lynn and Fred
