I'm very sorry for being late, I though I still had a few days...

Anyway here are my orders for you.

In Quad A, build a new camping ground in the green square across the river. Make sure it has 5 wood cabins, 20 tents and a small general store for the campers. Build some trails around the northern area in Quad A for the campers to enjoy and make sure they all connect back to the campsite. Lastly build a small street bridge across the river and connect it to Pattersville.

Now build a small town of about 1,000-2,000 sims in Quad C. Make sure it has an elementary school and a medical clinic. Surround the town with farms. Lastly build a road that connects to the town in Pattersville.

MandelSoft

Errr, Cameron, I've one question: where can I find good camping ground LOTs. I don't know if they are availabe anywhere.

Sorry I should have listed some downloads.

I was thinking of the Pegasus Mountain Theme Pack lots. They include trail lots, a general store, tent lots and some cabins.

Here's the links to them:
The tents and general store lots
A wooden cabin lot
And the trails lots

Thank you. I'll start construction very soon.

I have a proposal, and I'm asking you for permission:

In Challenge 4, David asked me to build an large industrial zone on quad K. There's a rail connection going to quad C. The plan was to connect the rail with the main railroad in quad A. Since you ask me to build in quad A and C, do I get permission to contiue to build this rail line (and even might put a rail station in the ordered village in quad C)?

Please let me know,

Best,
Maarten

Oh, by the way, I've an exam tomorrow (English to be precise). Wish me luck! ;)

Yes that would be great. You have my permission to do this.

Good luck for the exam!

Challenge 5:
Main Post

Well, what do we have today? An update of my Bordertown region. This was a hard one, because I've almost no experience with building military bases. So what did I do? Improvising is the answer. You'll see the results later in this post.

"Chhhrzzzrz...chhrrhzzrr...Hello?..chhhhrrzzzr..Are we on air?.....chrrzrrr... OK, we've made contact. This is Separatists Commander Maarten speaking. We have your instructions here:

1. First, you should build a rail line from tile H to the region border in tile G. Further details are explained in the next commands.
2. After that you build an medium density industrial area. Here we will produce our own industrial products, instead of importing them from the North. You may lay down the zones in any way you want, as long as
3. Futhermore, you shall build two rail stations, one for freight and one for the workers and a bus network to bring the workers to their workplace.
4. This place also needs a fire department.
5. You also build a power plant for all the required the electricity of the industrial area, and a water pump and purification plant.
6. At tile H you build a residential area and a commercial area. This place will host the workers from tile G.
7. This town must have at least one hospital, one primary school, one police station and fire department.
8. And finally, this town will also have a passenger rail station and a bus network.

We will now send a rough sketch of our commands. It's an example of how you can realize our demands "

Fulfilling Cameron's Commands

All right, it shouldn't be that hard to realize these requests.

First I've build a camping ground in quad A called "Yankham Mountain Camp".  The camping ground has about 30 tents, 6 wooden cabins, a general store, a rangers cabin and a swimming pool. (sorry for the "pause"-thingy)

Of course, the camp must have some road connection, so Cameron asked to build a street to connect the camp with Pattersville. But since I'm using only Quad A for this challenge, I builded a street to the A10, the main route in Whitehills:

After that, Cameron asked me to build a small village surrounded by farms in Quad C. All right, that shouldn't be hard, so I builded the town of Camelot:

Of course, the town requires some things, like a school, a clinic (both ordered by Cameron), electricity, a rail connection (both ordered by David in the last challenge, permission to continue construction granted by Cameron) and bus stations. Here is a close-up from the town center:

And of course Camelot needs a connection with Pattersville:

In this quad also lies my most scienic rail, in the rural areas of Camelot:

Tension in the region

Our dear gouvernour Fred Bison said to us that an union of the region is likely not going to happen soon. Therefore, he ordered us to build an army base, an air strip and a navy base to show that we mean buisness. This was a small problem for me, because I have no experience of building any military base. But eventually I builded all three on the same tile, quad F. The Lagevelden Military Base is my first real military base ever.

The army base, consisting out of the Maxis Army Base plus some extra features, like attillery, training grounds and of course fences that keeps unauthorized persons out of the base:

The airstrip is a simple runway, constructed with AC airports:

And the navy base contains a mix of navy lots and seaport lots:

The workers come from Grensstad and Noordhove, just a mile or two away from the base. Gouvernour Fred: we are ready to go! ;)

Checkpoints

The rail connection has been restored, but both parts of the region don't trust each other. Therefore, they constructed checkpoints on each side of the bridge.

Here's the checkpoint on the side of Lagevelden (South):

And here is the checkpiont on the side of Whitehills (North):

On the Route 10 (A10/N10), Whitehills already have a checkpoint on their side of the bridge since the separation. Now, Lagevelden also builds a checkpoint on their side of the bridge too:

Judging Challenge 5

I finally got around to continue the GRV II Challenges and we will continue with the judgement of Challenge 5, 6 and 7 in the next weeks. Make also sure to read the *speach* that I wrote in the General discussion thread, maybe giving an explanation to all this delay.
How this challenge was judged can be found in the Challenge 5 thread. Please read it so you can judge my Challenge 5 also.

This challenge wasn't any easier than the one before to judge, because we had to look at many different points and from different views. Thank You.

1. Your checkpoints are probably the most secure ones around and the max points were added.4 points.
2. The orders that you gave your adversary were well thought of and clear. Another good 4 points were added here.
3. Filling the rebel's demands are quite well done also, but could have been a little more realistic looking. In our opinion, so many roundabouts are hardly to find in one little town in this quantity. We though gave you 3 points for this part of the challenge since the farms, camping and rural areas are nicely done.
4. The army base is like most of the players a tiny bit too big, we wnated it to be impressive but also realistic. Well organized and well chosen location, gave you 3 points for this.
5. This is another example of we meant by scenic rails. Besides having forgotten the grid (which does not count in our poitage giving) we couldn't have wished for better. Excellent. 4 points were added.
Bonus point for being ontime.

You earned yourself some 19 points which is better than very good. Congratulations.

Lynn and Fred
