Wow! Winter in Freedombourne looks beautiful! I love the picture of the llama running out into traffic. Keep up the good work, my friend!

rooker1

Another super update.  I say some wild life right up on someone's lawn.  Now that very rural.  As for the begging, I did mean it in a very nice way.  I saw a tutorial on how to transit enable a lot.  I think I'll read that over. ;)

Thanks,

Robin

Beautiful, Jan. I love Freedombourne, and I especially like your nature reserves.  ;D I like sectioning off parts of my cities for nature too. Hopefully a developer won't have the nerve to plunk down a Toxic Waste Plant right next to it.  $%Grinno$%

I'll be waiting for more.  ;)

Heinz

and you've hit 100! real quick too.  &apls the wildlife reserve looks massive! and massive work must have been done to fence the whole thing. the snow looks great in freedombourne, my friend. and with what i see, more good development is bringing in more commerce. love the selection of residential my man

Swamper77

@Pat: Thanks for your comments and the humor :D

@Sebes: In this update, a second nature reserve is being dedicated. I'm glad you like the rural feel of my region.

@Thundercrack: Thanks. You can imagine how hard it is to spot a snow-covered llama against the snowy scenery.

@Robin: I was just giving you a hard time ;)

@Flipside: No developer will be getting anywhere near my region with such nasty developments.

@Heinz: I'm glad you like the layout of Freedombourne. I didn't notice the reply count because numbers don't mean much to me. It a "quality vs. quanity" thing ;)

Starting Monday, I will be working at my new job for an architectural/engineering company in Lynnwood, WA. I'll be working from 8 am to 5 pm daily. So my only freetime will be evenings and weekends. I'll try to update when I can, but real life has priority first. More info on the job can be found by following the "globe" that is under my avatar.

Now on to my update:
J. Colyn Serfontein Reserve Dedicated:

The reserve covers the eastern ridge on the northern part of the Freedombourne Township. It also includes the coves that are along the ridge.

Back in town....

Some houses have been added near the highway that comes in from Independence's commerical district.

Freedombourne's first car dealership, a Honda dealership. Cars are imported via Chinook helicopters to Independence and now Freedombourne. The cars are dropped off in clearings or on roadways with low traffic volumes. Plans are being made to have designated cargo airstrips for cargo planes to land and offload the cars. The airstrips will be built in Independence and Freedombourne in areas outside of the city limits so the planes won't have to navigate around buildings.

This crime scene occurred in the backyard of a rural-styled house. No suspects yet, but the horses have been ruled out as possible suspects.

A bit nortwest of the main town....

Some middle class residents have taken to living away from the main town of Freedombourne. The residents of the house in the upper left of the picture are having some hard times, so their house is falling into disrepair. Hopefully, things turn around soon for them as it is a nice house. Some country-styled houses are also seen here.

This country home finished construction just in time to see the neighboring plots get developed.

That particular country home also has quite a bit of wildlife frequenting the property from the nearby woods.

The finished neighborhood.

I will have more pictures from Freedombourne in my next update.

Very nice update Swamper.  I love the mix of custom content and the subtle humor - great work!
You're telling me I get to be home for more than 12 months?

thundercrack83

Another great update! It looks like there's a bit of a bear problem in town, though... I'll be looking forward to more!

rooker1

Good luck at your new job, hopefully we still can get alot of updates, I am very greddy.
The reserve looks great, a nice place to camp maybe?

Great little town and fantastic pictures with snow!

Nice winter images, feels a bit strange as it has been quite warm here in Holland lately.

emilin

Jan that was an awsome update and i do agree w/emilin.  If i saw that there was a bear in my front yard i would freak ooooh wait i have and i did lol.  I had called my neighbor cause it was the first time i saw a black bear in the front by my car and my poor dog was going ape poop lol.  My neighbor told me not to worry he would come over and shoot over its head and that scared the bear off.  I cant wait to see what you have planned when you can get back here again - pat

Don't forget the SC4D Podcast is back and live on Saturdays @ 12 noon CST!! -- The Podcast soon to Return Here Linkie

Swamper77

@Meinhosen: Thanks.

@Thundercrack: No bear problem here, just nature wandering among man :D

@Robin: You may be able to camp in it in the future, but no campfires allowed.

@Bat: Thanks.

@Kwakelaar: I felt cold while editing them in PhotoShop ()sad()

@Emilin: A probable excuse though ;)

@Pat: Interesting real-life story. Thanks for sharing it.

I lost my new job on May 1st at noon, after starting on April 30th at 8 am. I'm now unemployed again, and rather unhappy about it. This update was delayed because I've depressed about losing my second job of my life. I'm now looking for another job :(

Freedombourne is going through a stage of growth lately, which includes some not so good aspects as well.

What-A-Burger has been causing a garbage problem in Freedombourne. Litter can be found for several blocks along the roadways that lead to it. There's quite a bit in the parking lot of the business as well. Several complaints have been filed and the EPA of Hayden Sound is looking into the matter.

Trash is not just an eyesore, it can cause accidents as well.

A couple months later, a mysterious fire burned down the fast food restaurant. The remains were cleared and several new businesses have been founded in its place.

Businesses that are down the road from the former What-A-Burger.

On the other side of downtown Freedombourne, a new strip mall opened its doors. Why the town needs 2 CellMart stores is beyond me. All 4 stores are by JMyers and were grown. One of the units is "for lease" if anyone is looking to start a business in Freedombourne.

A new nut shop that opened up nearby.

The Citago station that is across the street from the nut shop. One of two gas stations that Bobbo has constructed in Freedombourne. The other one is next door and it is a Shell station.

The middle class family that was going through some hard times is doing better. Their home looks much better than it did several months ago. However, that old car is still being worked on at the back garage.

Speaking of better times, the Freedombourne Industrial Park has seen some growth:

NE Quarter

SE Quarter

SW Quarter

Some new housing has been added to the north of the commercial district:

Vab Valley housing, a series of small cottages.

Bumpy Grove has similar housing with a unique oddity, a kid spawning rock (smaller image)

A nice thatched roof house by CSX Construction. This style is typical of South Africa.

Some very nice houses designed by Mattb325 Industries.

A nice UK suburban home for the middle class.

With the new neighborhood, the first school and clinic of Freedombourne open their doors to the public.

Out to the west, another school and clinic are constructed and opened to the public. Quite a few Australian houses are seen in this area as well.

Within a few months, there is a major accident in Freedombourne:

Shortly after the accident, this memo ends up on my desk from Neil Fairbanks, the city planner for the region.

Sorry to hear about your employment situation, Jan. But don't worry, you'll be back out there in no time!

As for the update, it certainly looks like Freedombourne needs a sanitation overhaul! Hopefully the town can get it straightened out. Great update, my friend! Can't wait to see more!

kwakelaar

Sorry to hear the new job did not work out quite as you had hoped, I was really thinking it would be something that should fit very well with your talents.

Nice to get another update from you, lots of small details makes for interesting reading in this MD.

bat

another great update! also a fantastic industrial area! &apls

Flipside

At least Sharky's opened up where the fire had been.  ;)

I don't know about you, Jan, but most of the accidents on my cities' roads are caused by the mayor playing UDI.  ;D &Thk/(

Beautiful stuff. Always a pleasure to view.

Zaphod

you have a cool selection of residential bats, i like all the one story houses
War Kittens !?

meinhosen

Burning down an establishment that pollutes is an interesting way to solve a towns environmental problems...  :P  Let's hope Freedombourne's fire department is up to the task once the arsonists discover that industrial park.
You're telling me I get to be home for more than 12 months?

Swamper77

@Thundercrack: Freedombourne is having an easier time dealing with the garbage now that the fast food restaurant is gone. A sanitation facility is being constructed out by the industrial park to deal with the garbage problem.

@Kwakelaar: I'm glad you like the details of this MD.

@Bat: Thanks.

@Flipside: The accidents I get are caused by commuter traffic alone. I hardly touch UDI any more, unless I need to check pathing/routing.

@Zaphod: Thanks. Most of the one story houses are either SimGoober's or ThesDale's. ThesDale's are based off homes in Melbourne Australia.

@Meinhosen: Freedombourne currently just has volunteer firefighters. A majority of the townspeople are trained in firefighting with classes that are available from Independence. More on that in a future update ;)

The BSC opens a new office in Freedombourne to handle the local operations of the corporation. The office space was secured by the local BLS Real Estate Agency that is just down the road.

Joe opened another Cafe Joe coffee shop in Hayden Sound. This one is in Freedombourne at the corner of Main and 1st Streets. Cafe Joe has drive thru service all day to accomodate all the shifts of workers coming and going to the industrial park. Beware of the police though. They wait here, looking for speeders.

Dolphin66 established her new office in Hayden Sound recently. Dolphin Designs will take on any landscaping or architectural tasks that you need help with. Dolphin Designs coordinates with the local BSC office to find contractors and laborers to do the job. Dolphin Designs is across Main Street from Cafe Joe.

First Theatre:

With the help of Yticmic of the BSC, Freedombourne residents now have a movie theatre to visit.

Some hawks seen flying near downtown Freedombourne.

The northern part of the neighborhood of Norcliffe.

The southern part of Norcliffe, which is a new expansion of the neighborhood.

A good portion of the new southern part of the Norcliffe neighborhood has been converted to middle class housing.

Some MTP cabins are being constructed in Norcliffe. A few alterations to the "Lakeview" house plans created this model named "Seaview". The MTP cabins are middle class homes.

The Kilbourne Family has moved into the Norcliffe neighborhood. Reverend Kilbourne has been sending around a petition to have a church constructed in Freedombourne.

Kids crowding the sidewalks on their way to school in the morning at Norcliffe Elementary.

The Shoreside Diner in Norcliffe provides excellent meals with views of the setting sun every evening. The nearby elevator tower enables the disabled to visit this fine establishment.

Random Shot:

A random shot of suburban life in Freedombourne.

Next time we will visit one of the other townships. (I'm not going to say which one either $%Grinno$%)
