Emperor Stormont

Well thank you to everyone that commented on my last update, so pleased you enjoyed it.

I will post a full reply list with my next full update which I will take you again to the Atlantan Imperial Quarter, and we shall look at the gardens of the new Imperial Palace which has been constructed in the quarters, the gardens are not to be missed.......

This is a special update, The Imperial Kingdom of Atlantis was awarded the honour of hosting the new SCJU Stock Exchange. The main building has been completed and has been located in a fantastic new business park, this park will house offices of the largest and most important institutions and companies from SCJU member nations. Plans are progressing well on the development.

However the main exchange has been completed and I present it to you. I have a major thanks to give to Dmscopio, one of the most talented modern architecture BATer's we currently have, I requested him to BAT the Stock Exchange and it is based on the Pearl River Tower currently under-development in China. The Bat is an exclusive release, no plans at the minute to release to the general public, though that is for him to decide. I also need to thank Barbyw who very kindly converted the model file into a landmark for me to be able to use, without her help this would not be happening, so my thanks to both of them, the assistance was greatly appreciated.

That's an awesome building, Emperor Stormont, enhanced by the beautifully-landscaped grounds and reflection pool.
Atlantis keeps looking better and better!

Seahawk - Thanks mate, so pleased you liked it....  ;)

Joan - Why thank you. I always welcome you wonderful comments they are greatly appreciated. Yeah I did try to match the building to the nation, it seems to have worked well, so thank you. In regard to Atlantis being 'shamelessly pretentious' I simply have no notion as to what you are referring to. We are a sedate and simple nation  ;D

Pat -
Hey Pat and thanks for stopping by, so pleased you liked the update. I hope you enjoy this one, I'm sure you will.

Bat - Thanks mate, so pleased you liked the work and update.

Hubert - I see you agree with Joan in regard to Atlantis being shamelessly pretentious, my my my, I never believed we were  :D

I'm so pleased you liked your embassy, the woods and lake do work together very well indeed, as well the older parts of town close by. Thank you for your words greatly appreciated.

GrizzlyBuilder - Thanks very much mate, so pleased you liked what you have seen, do feel free to visit my humble kingdom again.

Pip -
Thank you, don't worry about your absence, we all get RL now and then, always so pleased to see you visit.

Joan - Indeed it does Joan, I'm very very pleased with it, and yes of course accompanied by wonderful gardens.

Pat -
Thanks Pat, so happy you liked. In regard to SC4P, I simply did not have the time to run the site and the between me and the former admin decided to close it as we were both unable to carry on with it. Was sad to see it go, but it had started to die and was best to let it do so I'm afraid.

Bat - Thanks mate, yes the night lights do indeed look fantastic, so pleased you liked it.

Pip -
You see Atlantis has you back and wanting more, LOL, so happy you liked. I love it and a glorious new symbol for the SCJU, just to enhance our pure sexyness.

Some notes to post before I move on. The first is that the images you will see will show the Imperial Palace, this is not what is to be placed, Yoder is working on remodelling the Citadel Palace for me to use, in the meantime, I have just made use of what I have.

This is the final of my 'special trixie season updates', nominations close on the 24th and this is the last update prior to that date.

The last and most important point is that this update is dedicated in thanks to Hubert (Strechnitz) without him so kindly allowing me to use his simply wonderful garden pieces I would not have been able to create this expression of grandeur and beauty, so my deepest thanks to him and this update is for him (and everyone else of course)  :D

When plans were drawn up for the rebuilding of a new national capital, Atlantis, plans were also developed for the construction of a majestic new Imperial Palace and Palace Gardens. It was to be of a design to rival any great palace of the world, in particular in true Atlantan style the gardens would be lavish with no expense spared in the creation of a showcase Imperial residence that would awe visiting Heads of State and Government. His Imperial Majesty would reside in the former Royal Caledon Palace which had been rebuilt during the construction phase. Once complete the Royal Palace would be opened to the citizens of the kingdom and colonies as both a memorial to Royal Caledon Rule and to showcase some of the most impressive and highly valued works of art collected by the Caledon Royal Family over the centuries in which they ruled.

This new Imperial Palace would be a fresh beginning for the new Imperial Family although some art works and furniture treasured by His Imperial Majesty would be moved from the Royal Palace to his palace. Work was completed on the palace several months ago and the gardens were finished soon after.

In this special series of updates we shall explore this new expression of Atlantan beauty, power, wealth and prestige. The first update shall focus on the main gardens, the second on Imperial Avenue and the Imperial Square, all located at the front of the Palace and the third and last on the palace itself, a true marvel in extravagance and glorious ceremony.

But first to the gardens, some of the most beautiful and carefully planned in the world............

(Note for these images I have reduced the size of the info bar to enable you to see more of the image, so it's a little smaller than usual and a small warning, there are quite a few of them)

ENJOY.....

I do hope you enjoyed that, the next sumptuous update shall be on the southern façade and the Imperial Square, so please do return, and if you liked then please feel free to comment.

I love the formal look of the gardens, Emperor Stormont. Any one of those separate lots (assuming that's what they are) would make a beautiful quilt pattern, and you can take that as a high compliment from a lady who has made several. (Quilts, not lots!).
I have worked for years to free myself from "grid lock" in SC4Dx, but in creating the palace grounds, you have shown that a symmetrical arrangement is lovely when used in the right way in the right setting.
In the third photo, "The Upper Garden and Fountain," the gardens that look like scroll work especially caught my eye. Then in the next one, "Upper Eastern Gardens," the lower of the two gardens on the right is just lovely. Those are exceptional - the rest are merely gorgeous! ;)
I hope to see a lot more of your work.

Until next time...
Joan

Shadow Assassin

The amazing thing's probably the huge amount of parklands in this city.

Any region shots of the entire city... I wouldn't be surprised if the parks took up more space than the city itself. :P

A huge and beautiful garden, some very nice details in all the different patterns. I think the upper garden and fountain is particularly well done. Also the orangerie garden has turned out nicely the way you have put the different elements together.
I am a bit more critical to the way you have been planting different coloured trees in rows next to each other. In the close-ups it looks a bit unnatural, but in the overview it still looks quite good.
The overall layout could maybe benefit from a bit more simple design. It might make a stronger statement if you choose to emphasize a few (sight)lines more than others, like you have done with the diagonal avenues leading up to the corner of the palace.
But this is still an amazing garden you have made.

Oh Man, Wow!  I can not imagine how many hours of work are shown in this past update. The result is absolute beautifull. And it seems to be completely symetric, it must have been a pain to get it that way! (I sometimes tried to make symetric street layouts - and that seems easy compared to this I guess). My favorite shot is the last overview for that reason. But, it's a shame that so many details get lost there. I think you should bring the Uppergarden and Fountain into the picture competition : the detail in there is absolutely awesome. Also the Imperial Mausoleum and Glasshouse show a great part of these gardens.

So, true: these gardens are absolutely worth an Emperor!  &apls

WOW!
I am truly honored by this grand gesture. In two ways. first is because of dedicating this post to little me. and second is that you have used my pieces so tremendously mixing them with other elements to get this glorious and not to forget vast palatial park.

And it is so funny to see how we use the same pieces in totally different ways :)

Pat - Thanks very much mate, I'm so pleased you enjoyed the update, it was a joy (if at times stressful) to create and I'm glad you liked it so much.

Joan - Thank you so very much. Yes I suppose those designs would indeed make lovely quilts. :)  I am the same, I try to avoid grid, but at times it can look beautiful, especially when using gardens and paths to create the look. This new update will hopefully show that I love using non-grid for avenues and roads.

I'm so very pleased you found the update such a delight to look and read through. I certainly enjoying showcasing it.

Shadow Assassin - Indeed the parks and gardens of Atlantis are large and some as seen are indeed vast. The city has its mix parks, low rise and high-rise, all I try to blend together as best as I can. I have an idealist view of future cities and I love to emphasis trees and green spaces.

Kwakwlaar - Many thanks. I know what you mean regarding the trees, it can look unnatural, but you need to remember that reality does not really operate in this CJ. I do those with the trees to create colour and just something different as well as attempting to use nature and things such as trees in a way that others would not think of. I to love the upper gardens, they turned out well and many thanks for your kind words. I hope you like this update also.

Sebes - Thanks mate, so thrilled you enjoyed it. Yes it did take a long time, the whole city tile has taken months of on-off work and time, but I am so so pleased with how it all looks, one of my most carefully planned and crafted cities. Suppose I would say I'm very proud of it.

Bat - Many thanks, was a great joy to create and I'm very pleased you enjoyed them.

CabraBuitre - Thank you very much. I do also like to give people some ideas whatever those ideas may be. Thank you and I hope you enjoy this update also.

Hubert - Well without you they would not have happened so the honour was all mine. Yes I did use them very differently, we both have a similar way of design and style but each of us have our unique way of creating cities which is always good and means we can be impressed and take ideas from each other. I hope you like this update also.

This update shall focus on the area to the south of the new Imperial Palace and will take in some of the most important monuments in the city, including the Caledon Library, Amadeus Gate and Imperial Square.

The focal point is Imperial Avenue, an impressive cross-diagonal avenue that runs from the Imperial Palace down past the Caledon Library, the statue of Emperor Stormont III travelling further south past the Atlantis Broadcasting Tower and former Caledon Royal Residence until it ends at the Imperial Congressional Senate, in total nearly 6 miles, one of the longest and most impressive avenues in the world.
The avenue is lined with some of the most important buildings in the nation and capital including national embassies, governmental ministries and some of the buildings that existed in the old Caledon capital of Queenstown.

One of the finest examples of such a building is the Caledon Library, this stunning building houses the entire historical records of the Caledon nation and documents the history of the nation and the ruling Amadeus Royal Dynasty, the Royal family that ruled over Caledon and her empire for over one thousand years, one of the longest ruling Royal families in Europe. The spectacular round library was recently renovated and re-opened to the public with additional records and documents added to the collection. These new records document the fall of Caledon the years of despair without a ruling family, years of economic depression following the war and the eventual establishment of the Imperial Kingdom.

Located at the start of the Imperial Avenue is the grand and large Imperial Square. The square is used as a parade ground on ceremonial occasions as well as proving the people that live and work in the Imperial Quarter an additional open space to relax and enjoy the splendour of their city. The square is also used for large public gatherings on important dates and state occasions on which the Emperor will address his people.

In the middle of Imperial Square is Amadeus Gate. Built in the memory of the last king of Caledon that died in the last days of the war that led to the collapse of his nation when a Russo-Hungarian missile landed on the Royal Palace causing immense devastation and the death of 10 members of the Royal Family and hundreds of staff serving the family. The palace was almost totally destroyed. The gate celebrates King Andrew Amadeus as the leader of his people through times of both peace and war. It also stands as a reminder of the nation that went before Atlantis. The gate was designed by Emperor Stormont II himself, and his son Emperor Stormont III (the current emperor) saw the gate completed. On top of the gate stands the memorial to King Amadeus, portrayed as a Caledon saint leading his nation to victory, holding the Amadeus Royal Standard and insignia.

The areas to the east and west of the Imperial Avenue are filled with recreations of important buildings of the former Caledon capital as well as those created under the rule of the Stormont Era, new governmental buildings and complexes, embassies, grand parks and canals as well as various other impressive city planning and architecture.

I do hope you also enjoyed this update, the next shall focus on the Imperial Palace itself, after that update I shall be taking a small break over the Christmas holidays and will return with a new update, this time from outside the capital and we shall look at the smaller towns of the Imperial Kingdom, starting with one of the oldest and most important - Carrickmount, I do hope you enjoy these upcoming updates.

If you liked then feel free to comment or offer advice.

Emperor Stormont, that is a magnificent update. The library BAT is beautiful, but seeing the RL photos makes it all the more awesome.
Dare I ask if you created those BATs yourself? Whoever made them did a wonderful job.
And I can see you are good with diagonals while maintaining the bold symmetry of the Imperial Square.
It is a wonderful job you're doing here.

Until next time...

Hello Michael,

Again, a wonderful update on one of the loveliest quarters to live in, in the world.

Great use of the RL pics. the Dome/library is very convincing! I love it!!
As are the other features. It is so nice to see someone use the brandenburger tor again.

Bravo!
