My voting on the dependencies is somewhat completely useless, because I have them all (Ithink, except those cheap and useless ones)...I probably have more dependencies than most of the players here have total Plugins (5 Gb's depends only), but I do like both idea versions, stand alone and belonging to a seawall set.

The thing about modern buildings that w_swietwoot mentioned sounds good too. Even the Netherlands do not ONLY have those Haarlemmergold's bldgs, right? I really like that idea! ;)

Hi friends,

It was quite a struggle. And after that came a vacation with my family and other RL issues that took my time, but.... in the end it al came together. The Dutch Marina Reward is finshed and available on the STEX and on the LEX.

Thank you for your patience and I hope at least some of you will be happy with the lot(s).

You ask a member of staff to do it or hope that one of us is passing by and spots your request and does it, in this case FrankU its a karma point that's well deserved and I'm happy to oblige

FrankU

Well, I feel flattered!

Thank you very much Sim.Rico and catty!
I guess it's not only for the Marina, but more or less for the whole series?

I will continue the series soon.

OK, so apparently my Reward Replacement lots seem to meet an existing demand.
Therefore I decided to immediately go on with the next one: the Private Schools.

Here they are. First version, I'm open to comments.

And

I did not change the building this time, because I decided it is OK and fits into a Dutch city. Just the Maxis lotting was very bad.
I also kept the lot size the same. The first school has a larger lot with an yard where the childere learn how to grow carrots and feed the chicken.

Sim.Rico

Cant wait to get home and download!   Do you have any wall-to-wall type school lots?  i like "linking" multi bldgs together to get a unique campus between schools occassionally.

vortext

Looks good so far Frank, I concur the building can pass as Dutch. As for the lotting, well, I've said this before but imho the red brick is too dominant once again. Especially on the back side of the largest and smallest lot something is needed to break it up. Maybe that swing set on the latter could be moved to the middle. The garden on the largest lot is a nice detail though.

Hi Sim.Rico and Vortex,

Thanks for the feedback.

I know of your opinion on the red CP texture. But as I have no better texture available that comes close to our well known Dutch streetwork, I will stick to it. Even if your textures come out, I'll keep the set as a whole and will finish it with this texture. Sorry.

And a school yard is meant for childern to play, so I kept a part empty for them. So that they can run around and play with balls etc.
But I'll do some experimenting with moving the swing sets around etc. Pity Maxis did not provide more of them.

And I have to finish the read me and such bureaucratic stuff. But it won't take long.

Meanwhile I have started working on the Country Club: I'll do the rewards in order of appearance in my rewards menu.
The Business deals will follow one day. First the rewards.

I also don't really like that "artificial looking" texture, it is simply too.....intense, bright and clean.
If you could give me the list of these textures, (what kind of shapes and sizes used for lots) I will try and see what I can do to make it a lot better and more real-life looking. I have done this before....many years ago. All I have to do is to remember how....lol.

Hi Fred,

I will gladly give you the IID's of the textures I use. You can find them in the file BSC_TexturePack_Cycledogg_V 01.dat.

The base textures of the bricks: ddf48000 and ddf5c000
The base textures with brick and grass: the series ddcd8000-ddcff000 (34 textures).
There are other base textures with different grass in combination with the brick, but I hardly use them.
And then the overlays: dd105000-dd1f7000 (122 textures). I really cannot tell you which ones I did use and which ones not. Certainly not all, but... well... If you want it complete you have to do it!

Are you still determined you are going to make a project out of these? Please first finish the MFP props series!
If you want my maxis relots and my farm lots with your edits, I'd suggest you make the textures a an override set, because I don't feel like re-editing all these lots. Althought for the farms I will consider that, because these aren't ready anyway.
But no version 3 of the maxis relots.

I agree with you that the texture is not too realistic. But I didn't have better at the time that I started the set and I'd like the set to be a consistent one, so I am not going to change the textures.

And I have edited versions of the private schools.
Different texture in the back yard of the first and third lot: cheaper material.
The second lot basically stayed the same, just the orientation of the brick is now orthogonal like in the other two lots.
The third lot also got a bit different lay out of the back yard.

Better now?

hey FrankU, they look fine to me, maybe add a bicycle rack somewhere (like the one you used for the ABN AMRO Bank) to underline the fact that it's located somewhere in the benelux ?

Would be great if that (better and more real-life looking) override texture would also be used to create a benelux-style sidewalk mod, of course with textures for the NAM puzzle pieces, ecc (like the sandstone/super light asphalt -mod)!

FrankU

Thanks Jack!

@ Catalyst
Oh.... yes. I totally forgot. I have these fine Murmk bicycles. I will indeed add them to the lots.

vortext

Yep, looks better to me. Some bicycles on the front of the lots and it's a job well done!

I will have a look at these textures this coming weekend. Right now the weather is beautiful here, probably the last nice summerdays we will have and I am still recovering, being outside most of the time and enjoying the peace, the warmth, the air and all those birds and flowers in the garden.
I don't know about making an overide file, so you will have to do this. I will look at the textures, revise them and even give you a few new choices and you can do the rest. Ok?
;)

FrankU

Hmmmm, well, I prefer to receive the MFP props first, but of course the choice is up to you. Do whatever you feel like.
If you make textures I certainly will have a good look at them. OK!

And enjoy the summer!

FrankU

I finished the Private Schools.
I added bicycles.

Take a look and while you are gasping and awing I will try to finish the ReadMe and upload it tonight.
This time I will not make a non-reward ploppable version, because there are schools enough around. And I think its pointless to make some kind of CO or I-HT version.
So this time only three rewards.
