i wanted to include a picture of my cam counter but i couldn't figure out how - this is only my second post so stick with me here.
i have a city population of 70,358 - the cam counter says i have 243,766 regional residential capacity, but i can't get any stage 9 or above buildings to grow.

for stage 9 residential buildings to grow in this city, the cam counter says the following regional capacities have to be met:

r$ - will grow after 86,836
r$$ - will grow after 97,655
r$$$ - after 108,545

i only posted the numbers above because i'm not sure if they're the same for every city - but i should be getting some stage 9 residential buildings, correct?

In order to show a picture, you need to upload it off site first, e.g. on photobucket.com.
Then link to that picture with the [img]...[/img] tags.

Those are the minimum regional capacities needed (when there's a 1% chance for them to grow).
In order for stage 9 and higher buildings to grow, you also need to have enough demand for them.
Also note that R$$ won't grow past stage 9 unless you've got parks nearby.

You also need to have CAMeLots available that can grow on your zones.
There are a few by Maxis included in CAM itself.
Check the manual and see if you've got high-density zones matching them.

the counter isn't counting my CAMeLots - i think i put a picture of one - the yates real estate?  i have a bunch of the buildings on page 23 of the cam manual - why isn't the counter counting them? i hope this works and the pictures are the right size

Yes, the Yates growing on a 2×3 or 3×2 lot is stage 9. ;)
However, it also grows as stage 8 on a 2×4 lot and as stage 7 on a 3×3 lot.

The same building exemplar is used on all those in-game lots.
Since the Occupant Group for the CAMeLot counter is set in the building exemplar, I opted not to set it at all for this building.
Otherwise those stage 7 and 8 lots would also be counted as stage 9 by the CAMeLots counter.

In other words, the following buildings of the in-game family 0x400000AA:

  • Barthelet Coorporation
  • Graber Corporate Suites
  • Simon and Frank Associates
  • Yates Real Estates

...are not counted by the CAMeLot counter, even if they grow as stage 9 on small lots.
