@ Aldini: Have you tried making two neighbouring cities? This is one of the most common methods of getting a region up and running, and one of the most effective.
In South Georgia, as seen on the previous page, Urtuk (City A) and Kleðheim (City B) are the two primary cities in the region. Although one is significantly larger than the other, they needed each other to survive and make it anywhere. Without Kleðheim, Urtuk would not have reached 10,000 Sims. Without Urtuk, Kleðheim would have met the same fate.
A city on its own, in my experience, has a population stagnation anywhere between 5,000-8,000 Sims before the city planner starts whining about you not being neighbourly. If I recall correctly, Urtuk stagnated at about 6,000 Sims before the planner started whining.
This is where the other city, City B, comes into play. Establish City B, develop it to a good population of a couple thousand Sims. (Kleðheim was developed to a population of about 3,000.) Then go back to City A. City A will have more demand for residential and commercial, so zone away and watch your Sims go. Usually, City A's population will at least triple in size.
At 30,000-40,000 Sims, the population may stagnate again, depending on how large you made City B; go and work on it again.
Repeat this cycle of working on one city and then the other until one of the cities doesn't need the other to develop. Usually this occurs when one city reaches 60,000-80,000 Sims. That city will fly on its own, but don't abandon its neighbour city. Although it was initially built as a tool to help the main one, it needs attention too.
I'll have to give myself a prrrrrrrromotion!

Thanks for that wonderful tutorial, Maestro. I can see how to build a large town now.

You know, back when Rainyday still had his site, I remember you, dobs, uploading a very large map. If I recall correctly, it was a map of Luxembourg. Dang, is all that work gone now, or do you still have one last copy of it?

G'Day Devotees,

Hey hey more replies.

Things, I hope you've got word back from the boss! Glad to be of assistance with the address.

Earthquake, Thanks for the lovely compliments, and not to disappoint here is the next batch. (I've actually got quite a few more but it is not their time for show and tell yet.)

Maestro, that's some great info to help Aldini and others who may stumble by. Thanks for sharing it mate.

Aldini, I still have Luxembourg safe and sound. I will get around to rendering the maps, then I will release them on the stex. They're too big for here. Thanks.

Now onwards to the show.

This map was recently requested by Secretariat, Thankyou.

Kudat is 53.248km x 49.152km

Kudat is the administrative centre for the Division of the same name and is in Sabah, Malaysia on the island of Borneo

This next map was what I originally made

Pulau Banggi is 40.96km x 40.96km.

Pulau Banggi is off the northern tip of Borneo and is part of Kudat Division.

G'Day Devotees,

Well I've been tinkering down in the map factory once again, almost caught up on all the requests. Just a few to go. the old girls' got steam comin' out her ears.

So todays show is again another request map(s) courtesy of GMT, Thanks GMT. This is a pack of four maps.

LA Northwest

LA Southwest

LA Northeast

LA Southeast

Each map is 73.728km x 49.152km.

If One has the where with all and a puter with horsepower these maps will join seamlessly in a single large (monster) map 36 tiles by 24 tiles for an unprecedented SC4 view of the whole Los Angeles basin.

Thanks GMT, I cannot wait to see it. We don't want names, just pics will be fine.  ;)

And that my friends, is your lot for the day.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Cheers

Maestro9319

I wonder which regions are up next.
I'll have to give myself a prrrrrrrromotion!

Lowkee33

26x24?  Amazing.

If every tile take 30 seconds to render, save, and exit then thats about 7 hours.   :D

dobdriver

G'Day Devotees,

It's always good to get a bit of feedback.

Gmt, Good luck and you're welcome. I had a bit of a dick around putting tiles in at work SC4 gets a little cranky here and there.

MrDevine, perhaps you could pm me with a little more detail.

Ahh Maestro, What will it be? What will it be? Gee this one even surprised me.

Lowkee, there is a bit of time spent rendering. I can chonk through them at about 3 per minute, a fraction faster if I put my mind to it.

Now on to todays show.

Ten maps to rule show them all!
A request from Samerton and the WWII Bat Fiends, Thanks guys.

The Hawaiin Chain of Islands.

First up from the south, Hawaiʻi in four maps.

These abut and align seamlessly once again.

Next is Maui and Kahoʻolawe.

Followed right along with Lānaʻi.

And then it is Molokaʻi.

Oʻahu is the next island in the chain.

Kauaʻi is the most northerly of the larger islands.

And bringing up the northern tail is Niʻihau

Why I even surprise myself, sometimes.

These will be on the stex, lex and anywhere else I can think of, tomorrow.

Thanks Sam and Co, I hope you enjoy these.

That unfornately is your lot for now.

Thanks for looking and don't forget, have a great day.

Wow, dobs! Y ou are in some serious business making all these maps and all. The maps that really bring the awe in awesome are the big maps. I epecially love the Hawai'i maps. Thanks a lot to your contributions to this game, you really deserve something good for this. I am glad to be back in your team's little den of awe. It makes me feel more comfortable in the SC4 environment which I have been lacking lately.

Thanks again and have a wonderful day. &apls

La carte de Paris est très bonne! Elle est très magnifique!

I was checking out Northern Norway, and saw that it has more mountains and islands (and some mountain islands) than you can shake a stick at. Actually, if one probably had the time and money, they could sail a boat and shake a stick at every island and mountain and mountain island up there. Point is, there are many regions to be made there for those who appreciate mountains.
I'll have to give myself a prrrrrrrromotion!

Your maps are simply fantastic. Have you published the LA series as I would really like to have a go and a large region; hardware permitting.

No worries I have found them and will give them a try.

My current region has been hit by the 'Prop Pox' bug so that is going to be relegated to the "under the bridge file".
