Decided to do a small referencal map of one of my citys local train line 2. This is actually my third transit map, but in my opinion the first good enough to share here  ;D It's not a loop even though it starts and ends in the same place, it just does this U-type of movement :)

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

EDIT: Damn i'm stupid, it should be interchange stations, not exchange stations
Has it really been almost 2 years?
Must return. :)

Nice simplistic map you have there Ciuu! So if you need to get from Rantarata to the airport, you have to transfer at Sinijavari Railway Station?

Yeah, but actually you should transfer to T2 as it goes much more closer to the airport than L2/L2A and runs much more frequently. ;D It's kinda weird that is goes the U-movement but as i basically merged two of my railways which both started from railway station and ended at the other side of the river it came to be like this. Perhaps it could also be a loop, have to think about it.  :)

Another offering; yellow and grey seems to be the preferred choice of branding for the Bradford tram network. I may have to tweek the typeface for the "Bradford 1" Shopping Centre as it doesn't quite come out on a jpeg file.

EDIT: CIUU96: Just out of interest on your map, surely the line has a train running in both directions? If not then your network has some dead mileage unless the train ends up on the same platform it left... ??? Sorry...I take a railway module at uni  &Thk/(

@CraigKingOfIreland:
Great map. Looks very clean. I am just a bit confused by your coloring of the station markings when two lines run parallel. When they only have the color of one line does that mean that only that one line stops there and the other one drives through?
For example, doesn't the blue line stop at Killbarack, Raheny, Harmonstown, ... (stations colored green, not blue)?

The green line in the DART, Dublin's electricfied urban commuter rail that stops at all stations. The blue line is the less frequent, outer suburban Commuter so only stops at several stations (the ones with white, black-bordered boxes) to allow transfers to the more local DART network. Both of these services run on the same heavy rail track as intercity trains (:

RickD

Ah ok, that makes sense. Thanks. :)

Sorry for the double post but I thought I'd show my transit map. My first one, by the way. I am still learning how to use Inkscape efficently.

This is the GLR network in my MD "Santa Barbara County":

Let me know what you think. :)

@RickD: Good for you first one (: Can I make a few suggestions though?

  • Don't have the names of the GLR stops going over the SBlink line as they're both black and it's not very pleasing to the eye. Same with the dotted line around the centre of town.
  • I think some of the other colours don't work great either. The main background is a bit strong, maybe lean a little more towards white on the spectrum? Also think the two lines might look better in slightly off-colour red and blue instead of the solid, strong ones you have now.
  • Also not crazy on the black dotes for stations.
  • Lastly, I think the names would be a bit confusing/overwhelming for passengers. I don't know what it's like in real cities with trams and roads numbered instead of named, but things like "N5 Ave/E5 St" seem a bit much for stop names to me.

Generally a pretty good job though (:

the blue in lamp's map looks like where water is in the city, and it is indeed a great map :)

A new year, so I figured I'd start it off with a new map.
I made it today, and...as you can see I still have a lot of work to do (construction wise) :D
Yes I know two stations are missing names, I couldn't think of any for them, as they don't actually exist yet. :P

I think I've been here long enough, call me Kenneth/Kenny.
